“Yeah, actually I was heading to grab some food before my next class. They um only had an later class open, not sure….why but um. YES! Also I suspect my uh. My cat might be held hostage.” He said with a shy sort of grin. “Not that I think he’d mind.” He added.

America grinned and shamelessly held Mogget a little closer up. "Hostage is a strong term. What about personal escort instead?" To emphasize, she began to lead the way.

“Alright, that sounds less like a Hostile Cat takeover.” He said warming up to this woman. “How are you liking our, weird little town?”

"Well the magic thing is kinda mind blowin' to be sure," she laughed. "But the people have been really friendly, too, from witches to barkeeps to a*****e grease monkeys. Of all the places I could get stuck in, I think I've gotten pretty lucky. You a longtime local, then?"

“Yeah, long as I can remember.” He admitted. “…I don’t remember it always being as um… odd as it’s –gotten- though.” He added with a small frown. “Magic wasn’t, I mean growing up it was, I mean maybe it was there I was just not seeing it but dang.” He shook his head.

America went quiet for a long stretch, a pensive frown across her features until she finally asked, "Is it all like.. .specific to this town?"

“As, far as I can tell? Yessss?” He said hesitating. “I mean, even the history of the town is a bit odd.” He frowned. “Indian Princess with a, not so native at all name so its either, applied later or she wasn’t or she was like Sunny, or I don’t know…but falls in love with a ‘man with eyes like the ocean’ and tragedy and strangeness. Plus Sunny herself is in the book as a block print and they just call her “Indian Girl” He pulls a face at that little bit of frustration but lets it pass. “I haven’t tried to do anything like, leave the town and try and get to the “Other’ town though, and, I at least know some…thing in the other side of things who might be able to tell me. I should ask some time.” He mused. “I’ll tell you if I find out? Sometimes they get odd about answers.”

"I don't suppose," she asked, interested but a little chagrined, "...there's a movie about that story I could watch? Fancy old books aren't really my speed, but I'd like to hear more 'bout that one." Any books, to be honest, were difficult without resorting to series a of tricks to make everything connect into a complete story for her. "I'd appreciate you keeping me in the know, be interesting to see how...if this place is different. If maybe I'll be in Wyoming or Louisiana and there's something else there that maybe I don't got the sight to see." And here she paused, considering the odd turns her vision had taken recently. "Yet."

“Well… I don’t think they have an Audiobook of the actual history book, but there was a book that seems to have been adapted from it, I bet someone read that if you’re up for listening to someone else tell the story?” He offered. That same story Heliodora had had. Nothing was really coincidence was it. “I mean, I work in a book store, if It can be ordered we can do it.” He offered, giving her a thumbs up.” Mogget tapped her chin with his paw as though to confirm.

Her gratitude is writ clear across America's features. "Yeah, that'd be a lot easier for me. I'd really appreciate that!" Giggling at the Paw of Assurance, she went on, "You'll have to let me do something nice in return, though, okay?"

“It’s my job you know.” Zac offered back “So I don’t mind regardless. I mean, I can’t stop you, and I’m sure Mogget would like to see you around so.” He shrugged helplessly. “I really don’t mind regardless I promise. If I can get one In I’ll bring it by the Bar and leave it behind the counter.” He offered. “I think it might be a good thing to share around honestly.”

America thought about that statement and previous ones and ventured a question as Darlene's came in sight, "So is it...new, knowing about the magic stuff, for other folks around here too? Not just you?"

O-Other people know, he confirmed. "some of us have seen some um, really, really strange things, Like... owls that are taller than me, and stuff... I have this feeling it's just going to get stranger, you know?

With a thoughtful hum, America nodded and couldn't help a small smile. She liked to be around Stuff Happening. "Was the owl nice? 'Cause those ******** got talons for days." She ran a comforting hands down Mogget's back, just in case big scary owls alarmed the kitty.

Zac made a sort of... hesitant creaky-sound I...i...it was... ressssonable?" HE said drawing the word out as he was forced to admit that the creature had not ben one of the most horrifying things that Ashdown had to offer. "It...was sort of like...the blob with an owl face." he said "It sort of...mmmmade a hand to shake?"
