“I’ve been with Mogget LONG before things hopped on the crazy train. AND he doesn’t spread flowers when he purrs so…yeah, Pretty sure that save for his quirky cinnamon craving he’s pretty normal. I mean he -adores- sardines, Maybe chicken just tastes too bland to him.” He mused. He Did have to grin at ‘His’ princes though, really now. There -might- have been a delighted spark in those pale eyes. “Not true though…” He added “You -can- research, I was asking questions before I got dumped into full weird you know. I even found some library books that were interesting. Hey! You could help us write down logs of… ‘Other’ things we run into when we end up on the other side of things! I’m working on a map and everything!” He sounded honestly enthusiastic. “I mean, I know we could use the help… I have college AND work, plus you might be more objective than us on some things. And…and don’t worry, I didn’t feel like you disregarded it. You have a lot to take in, and at least its…semi voluntary. Besides… Mogget likes you so…. you’re good in my book.” He nodded. “mmmmBRRRRP!” Mogget added. rolling his head into Lucas’s hand.

"Maybe. He could have very refined taste." He chuckled as he rubbed the top of the cat's head, utterly smitten with him. If he didn't like Zac so much (and know that Autumn would castrate him if he upset Zac), he'd want to take the little guy home. Lucas looked over to Zac when he began to speak with enthusiasm, brows askew in a slightly doubtful manner, but he listened. He drew in a breath touched with hesitation, but nodded, slight and thoughtful. "I can only...tell you what I see happen here, obviously," he said, still sounding like he doubted he'd be of any help, "and all I have is conjecture. I haven't really experienced any of it myself, other than Rosalinde." Could he help? Really? Well. He had seen Pax, and Autumn had seemed to neglect telling others about it. Perhaps that was a start. "...yeah, I'll do my best. I mean, if it's not too odd, I can -- we can exchange numbers, I'll text you if I see or hear anything, you can let me know if it's already been said and done?" His eyes flickered to Mogget. He really need to get himself a pet.

Zac’s grin was enormous. “Yes!” He said and fished in his pocket for his phone. “Here… this is mine.” He said with a nod. “With your help and…” He hesitated a moment, that moment of trouble washing over his face again before he put a smile back. A practiced move it seemed. “… With Autumn out of the Hospital.” He nodded slightly. “Sorry… I’m really glad she’s ok. I was … I was really scared. The more we know… the more we know the better prepared we might be.” “…we should get you to stop by the Bookstore, see if any of the cats that Alg feeds adopt you.” He grinned watching Mogget wave an arm at Lucas’s hand trying to cooks more pettings from all available hands. "... If you don't watch yourself, Mogget will probably show up and say hi some nights, he can be a bit of a rover, specially since I'm staying with friends right now." He admitted.

He used his prosthetic hand to grab his own phone, exchanging the numbers and tucking it back in his pocket, his good hand still in the hold of Mogget. Lucas did his best not to look upset at the mention of Autumn in the hospital - he hadn't known, not until she mentioned someone burning her lungs just before he left - but it was hard. He wore his emotions like an open book, only his face was the book, and it betrayed his thoughts more often than not. "I'm...glad she's okay too," he said at length, nodding with a difficult swallow. "Every effort counts...I hope." Lucas still wasn't convinced that the individuals his friends were aligned with were 'good' or 'right,' but the only way he was going to know and keep them safe now was to help them the best he could. He did give pause at the name offered. "Alg?" he drawled out the vowel, making it sound a bit more ridiculous than intended. "Some names you folks have around here." But Mogget was batting at him and he was not one to deny pettings, ruffling the pale fur and tentatively offering Mogget his prosthetic hand for inspection. Didn't want to freak the poor thing out. Arching his brow, he nodded slightly at the warning, not really sure what he'd do if the cat just...showed up. "He's welcome to. So are you, if you need a change of scenery. A friend of the Princess is a friend of mine." So long as he didn't have his neighbor crawling through the window when he had visitors, anyway. He pointed slightly with his index finger, still not moving from Mogget. "I live a few blocks down there, crosses Fox Street. There's a building with lofts, I'm not ground floor but there's plenty of trees if Mogget's a climber."

“Algernon” he filled in. “He teaches at the college, he actually wrote the um… Red Herring series though, he doesn’t really like feed back on it.” He grinned. “Town Drama will tell you anyhow, my… My Guardian detective Jeremiah Mercer - likes him.” He grinned and rested his chin on his hand. Mogget sniffed the prosthetic hand and then licked it curiously, ears swiveling before thumping his head against it and looking satisfied with the results. “I appreciate that a lot.” He added sincerely. “I think I didn’t realize a lot about this town till I felt the need to get away from my status quo.”

He didn't have to say it; his face spoke it clearly: Algernon, like, Flowers For? The expression shifted into something slightly more impressed, seeming to recognize the series mentioned, nodding a little. "Most people don't want their work criticized, I can't say I blame him. Interesting choice of place to settle, though..." He paused. "Is he uh...on your team?" There was really no graceful way to ask that. Lucas chuckled under his breath - good, it wasn't uncommon to take to men, then - mostly amused by Zac's enjoyment of it. "I'm beginning to think a lot of people that come here are either running from something or returning to it. Ashdown has that sort of...quality, about it." With his hand being Mogget Approved, Lucas then used both to rub over the cat's fur, more careful with the prosthetic one but affectionate with him all the same. He opened his mouth to say more, but paused when he heard his name called -- his tea was ready. He'd almost completely forgotten why he was there in the first place. Standing, he gave the cat a farewell petting before he offered his good hand to Zac. "That's me for tea, and...I've got a lot to think about, thanks to you. I think -- I think I need to get a 'please don't hate me' gift for Autumn and try to collect my thoughts, but I promise, we'll be in touch." He smiled, then, and it was as heartfelt as he'd been for most of the day. "And if you need anything, you don't hesitate to call me, okay?"

“You mean does he, bat for the home team?” Zac asked amused and shrugged. “I… think they like each other.I don’t think either of them like to talk about it though. I think their about as good at relationships as I am.” He gave a small nervous laugh. “As a warning, Im kinda terrible with people., But I’ll do my best okay? I … Promise I’ll try not to get you hurt like Autumn, okay?” He said earnestly. Mogget stood up and almost danced on the tips of his toes with his tail curling into a nearly improbable spiral of pleasure and purring at the petting. “If you need me, drop me a line too okay? I have voice mail and…if Im not…HERE then, well then I think it should still leave me a voice mail.” He waved. Grateful for the company while he’d had it, grateful for the talk. And well, yeah, he was glad Autumn knew someone like this too. Things just felt more… solid now. Not that things hadn’t felt that way with Jer but… Friends. Real friends. And didn’t they all need that?
