Jeremiah drove for a bit, at least after he made sure that Aleksandra was going to be alright for a few moments. It was not that he was ignoring him, it was that he really needed to get him off of the campus and a bit further away. At least he hid the wince at the door slam. "Are you alright?" Definitely not ignoring you. "I'll park in a few minutes and get the first aid kit out," he added.

No, I'm not ******** alright, Aleksandra thought, but in the end he didn't see the point in answering the question. He wasn't all out of violence, but he wanted to be: wanted to be so tired his bones were replaced with lead. Instead he felt jittery and strange and unhappy, hyperaware of the way he must look right now, weak and unfeminine and disgusting. He shook his head and tried to be tired.

It was a stupid question but he had to ask and so he had. Jeremiah turned his attention back to the road, only watching the young man out of the corner of his eye. "You've got a mean left hook," he said as he drove through the town. Some part of Jeremiah was looking for a place to park so he could get the first aid kit and have a look at Aleksandra's face. Especially since he was not cleaning up the blood. "He did not see it coming at all."

"They never do," said Aleksandra, voice tight. He slouched a little lower as he watched the insides of his eyelids. When he got home, his father would shout. Maybe it would be better if he just didn't go home at all.

Jeremiah made a noise, a hum of agreement before he fell silent again. It was never easy for him to offer comfort to people. Algie had been the only one he had ever easily comforted and that ... That was a thought best left alone even after all these years. "I'm going to pull over here," here being a parking place near the beach that was less used, "and get the first aid kit and have a look at you." Blue-green eyes were still watching. "Unless you've got somewhere else you want me to take you?"

Aleksandra shook his head. "Here's as good as anywhere," he said. He lowered his hands into his lap, Jeremiah's handkerchief (what an old-world nerd) clenched up tight in one hand. "I don't think anything's broken."

"Doesn't look like it from here." Jeremiah had too much experience with busted noses. The car was parked and he was getting out of the vehicle to grab the first aid kit. "Go ahead and get out, you can sit on the trunk once I get the kit out." Or sit wherever he liked, the detective was going to at least verify that Aleksandra was alright under that blood.

Aleksandra did as he was told, still shaking, leaning against the weird-a** car. "Your car's backwards," he said. "For America, anyway. How come? You just like being weird?"

Jeremiah popped the trunk and was pulling out the first aid kit before he closed it and gestured for Aleksandra to sit. "... because, much like me, this car is not from this side of the pond," he replied, his accent deliberately heavier, "but also because I like to make other drivers question their sanity." Completely straight faced as he said that too.

"How many times do you get pulled over for it," asked Aleksandra, climbing carefully onto the trunk of the car and twisting Jeremiah's handkerchief (bloody, damp with tears) between his hands. "When outside the town?"

The kit was opened, his thumbs popping the locks. Jeremiah glanced over to Aleksandra as he sat on the trunk and snorted. "The record is six," he said, pulling out out a packaged wet wipe and tearing it open. It was offered out with a hand. Not the antiseptic kind that would sting. "They get so testy when they find out I'm an officer." He had just the slightest bit of a bad grin, the corner of his lips twitching upwards. "I took away their fun." ... and sometimes he did things just to get a reaction. Jeremiah still had not really mellowed out. "Go ahead and wipe your face off and, with your permission, I'll have a look at your nose."

Aleksandra scrubbed his face free of the blood, very gingerly around his nose. It wasn't broken, but it was horribly bruised and maybe--maybe needed a little straightening?--anyway.
"That's funny," he said, a smile ghosting over his face. "Nice."

"If someone assumes things, it's their own damn fault what happens to them," he said with a slight smirk. In regards to people that pulled him over and life in general. Even Jeremiah would take lumps for his own assumptions. Jeremiah's lips pressed together into a thin line. The bruising was bad, the nose ... He approached, hands held up but not touching as he would need to. "If you don't mind? I've got far too much experience with having to make sure a nose isn't broken."

Aleksandra drew away, but stopped. It would be stupid not to let this guy finish fixing his nose, wouldn't it? "Sure," he said, holding as still as he could. "Just, uh. Don't do anything without telling me." The I can easily reach your nuts from here went unspoken.

"Not a chance. You've got a natural talent with those punches you threw." Jeremiah would know if only because he had watched too much boxing. ... and been on the receiving end a few times. Aleksandra got a look for the unspoken threat but Jeremiah let it go. It was understandable at this point, with the day he had. His hands were surprisingly gentle when he touched his face, one finger under his chin and the other touched to his cheek a moment. Jeremiah tilted his face one way and then another before he sighed. "It's going to hurt but I do need to straighten it back. Might want to get it looked at later as well." He tilted his head towards his arm. "Grab my arm and squeeze if you want." To deal with the pain instead of just holding it in or making a noise. "Just let me know when you're ready for me to do this."
