User ImageUstule enjoyed going to festivals--this one was taking place in May, and there was an almost summer-ish feeling in the air. She hadn't made plans with the rest of her friends, so she was going down to the fair alone.

Colors this year in terms of trinkets seemed to tend towards the pastel, but there was plenty of purple to keep her happy. Really, any shade of purple would do for her... So, where to start? She looked around the courtyard and finally settled on a beanbag toss game. That was always a good place to start, and they gave out decent prizes. It was also fairly close to the entrance to the fair, so her friends could find her easily here.

Her hand was steady, and her aim was true--all three bags found their target. She smiled as the vendor offered her a choice between two sealpups--she picked the purple one and tucked it under her arm.

The fallen was still unsure why he was going to this ball in the first place. Probably because he didn't have any plans anyway. Jo was busy and Burv was off doing her designing or whatever it was. He didn't want to sit alone in his dorm. Esrael wandered the booths, there wasn't anything he particularly wanted, but he also didn't want to not get anything from these nice people.

"How much for that stuffed animal?" The booth keeper answered him and it was within his price range so he shelled out the money and took the plushie, holding it underneath his arm.

User ImageQuilo went to every festival every year, and had done so ever since he was a little freshling. He estimated that just about everything he owned, besides clothes, had come from a festival. He loved that about his collection of possessions. It made them all precious memories as well as precious junk. This spring was going to be no different.

Quilo had sent a note to Ella a couple days ago to know if she wanted to go to this "prom" with him. He hoped the letter made it--in the meantime, he was dressed his best, in nice slacks and a button-up shirt with a tie. That was what people wore to proms, right?

In the meantime, he walked over to a spinning wheel game, where he won a ring. He picked out an aqua and yellow one, one that reminded him of his own favorite colors and Ella's. Hopefully he could give it to her at the prom?

User Image Ella had spent the past three hours fretting. Some was spent fussing with her clothes and hair, other was spent literally pacing in-front of a mirror. Why had she accepted the note? Why had she told her family she was going to prom? Why had she allowed her mother to help her get a dress? She was going to make a fool of herself. That, and already she felt her heart nervously fluttering. To Quilo, this was probably just a friendly meeting. To her, well, she honestly wasn't sure what it was. Affirmation he still saw her as a friend? Hope that she could, somehow, show she wasn't a complete goof? Maybe a need for him to notice her? Whatever it was, it was embarrassing, and Ella stood before the prom doors worrying her shame could be seen right on her face.

Ella nervously ran her hands against her dress. Did she look dumb? Was Quilo going to see her dress and cringe? Oh, really, why had she come? Maybe if she just turned around and.... oh, why was she opening the door? Hands! Behave!

And there she was, stepping into the entrance, hands wringing together. She took a second to observe the room, noting the decorations and music with a hesitant nod, hands running over her pink necklace. She didn't notice someone approach her, almost leaping out of her skin when a plushie was, delicately, placed in her hand.

"For the pretty lass." The bearer of the gift sang, trotting on past her as Ella flushed a brighter teal. Her? Pretty? Really? O-oh....

Lokni was debating whether to go to the festival or just stay in his dorm. His reasoning was he had no one to go with, and he hated to go alone when fun things were going on. Sighing to himself he began to walk and before he realized it he was standing in the middle of the festival grounds looking around.

He suddenly realized he wanted to have something sweet so he wandered over and got a small treat.

User ImageGuereda had not originally been intending to go to the prom--after all, they were an adult, a graduate of the Academy, and this was more of an event for the students. But Evey and Darryl had both wanted to go, and they wanted to go with them...besides, they had two lockets on a chain on their shirt to represent both of their children, but none to represent the gorgeous half-Naga on their arm. With Mesektet's hand intertwined with theirs and leaning against their shoulder, they felt their confidence soar as they walked into the prom. "Please stay close," they murmured to the kids.

Together, the four walked over to a spinning wheel, and one by one, took their turns. Reda's turn of the wheel won them a lovely locket. With a shy smile to their soulmate, they picked out a pale locket with a wine-red center. "Now the set's complete," they murmured to Messie.

User Image

User ImageGuereda worried too much, that really could not be good for them. Mesektet sighed and squeezed Reda's hand. If only there was a way they could explain to their soulmate that Reda just needed to relax! But it was the way that Reda was, and they didn't want to change Reda, just...make them feel better...

They watched the children fondly. Darryl was indeed staying close to both of his parents, but Evey was looking all over the room, frowning. They knew what she was looking for--she was looking for her friends. Every time there was an event, Evey ran off to look for their friends. It wasn't so bad, really--so far as Messie could tell, Evey's friends were good friends, ones that helped her and made her feel better. "Perhaps we should let them make friends and have fun," they murmured to Reda. Reda gave a guilty jolt and leaned against Reda as Messie took their turn at the wheel.

"I just want them to be safe," the Demonin murmured.

"They will be. This is a safe place." Messie blushed at Reda's romantic murmur as they tied a pretty pink and purple ribbon around their neck. "For now, perhaps. I love you, my dear." This time, it was Guereda's turn to blush.

User ImageEvey sighed. Da was always like this, overly protective. Mother was trying to work with them on that, at least. A sharp look from the Naganeko had Evey biting her lip. That sigh had been a little harsh. But could you blame her? She wanted to see her friends, and she didn't want to have to be glued to the hip to a hellicopter parent all day. Da tended to overreact to everything--what Evey needed right now was Lillian's underreacting and Talya's...well, entertaining overreactions. Da's overreactions were just...too much. I spent all last festival with you, Da, my friends were worried about me, can't I spend this one with them?

She looked over at Darryl, who was clinging to Mother's hand. "I'd like to see my friends, please," she said to her parents. "Maybe you could show Darryl around?" But her parents were too distracted with each other to answer. She rolled her eye and spun the wheel. Her prize was...a familiar? But she had so many already! Their family had so many, and yet... She turned around to look at her younger brother. "Would you like a Skyfish, Darryl? I've got enough pets as it is."

User Image, being gifted to her brother Darryl.

User ImageAnd so it began. At every festival, Evey ran off to hang out with her friends and Darryl got left behind. He wouldn't care so much except it was just another way in which he was an outcast in his own family. He watched while his older sister spun the wheel, then stepped forward to take his turn. While she wasn't looking, he shot Evey a dirty look. Yeah, sure, go ahead and abandon him. What did he care? Jerk.

But Darryl's opinion of his sister changed suddenly when she asked him about the skyfish. He looked at the pretty creature in its bag, and, speechless, nodded. He lunged forward and wrapped his arms around his sister's body; she nodded numbly and patted him awkwardly on the shoulder. "Um...you're welcome, Darryl. No, no, you can keep the prize you won, too."

The other prize he'd won--the one he had won himself, that was--was a big stick of cotton candy. He smiled at his sister, carrying the ridiculous candy in one hand and the bag of fish in the other. His smile would just have to suffice for an expression of gratitude--certainly the expression on Evelyn's face showed that she had interpreted it as such.

Mabe his sister was nice after all.

Kayndie was excited to go to the festival, she enjoyed every aspect of it. The sights, sounds, smells, games and treats. The games oh how she loved the games. Especially the skee ball game, nothing like rolling a round brown ball up a incline into the holes with point values attached. Kayndie was exceptionally at this game and always seemed to be drawn to it.

Looking around she spotted the game which was in the middle of the festival grounds, walking over to the game she said to the operator "Time for some funnnnn!" she picked up the ball and began rolling it up the incline. The first ball hit 500 points and she smiled, "Well looks like I have not lost my touch" she giggled to herself. Reaching for another ball she rolled it up and it went in the "Prize" spot which gave her a random item. The operator handed her a lovely bracelet.

This was super duper exciting! The last event she had gone to was definitely not as fancy as this one! Normally she wasn't one for fancy get togethers, but who didn't want to go to this fancy pants event? She had actually taken the time to put her hair up and she even dressed up! She had managed to find a really cute purple dress and the best thing about it was it was short enough that it didn't really hinder her movements.

Nefertiti wandered the event hall, a huge smile on her face. Everyone looked so nice and they all seemed so happy too! The neko continued to wander around, but had to stop as she felt something pulling at her dress. Confused she whipped around, thinking it was Freddy teasing her. No one was behind her. Another tug at her dress. Finally she looked down to see a cockatriel nibbling on her dress. "Oh! Hello there! I don't think that's going to be very tasty! Maybe we can go find you something other than my dress to eat?" She gently scooped up the familiar and continued on her way.

Lilo is open for interaction! If anyone wants to just quote me so I can see!

A party was a party and Lilo was going to be there no matter what. Sure the baphomet wasn't particularly fond of the required attire, but whatever they could look past that. At the moment there wasn't anything super exciting going on, not too many people were here yet and the music was...medicore. Lilo opted to just find a table and people watch a little bit. They sat there, watching the happy people, the upset people, the people in love. Maybe one day they'd have something like that t---almost as soon as the thought crossed their mind Lilo stopped themself. That was a disgusting thought.

Lilo sat there, tapping their feet to the beat of the music and just enjoying the ambiance as they felt something gently rest on their head. Lilo reached up and felt the aetherjelly that had made their head it's perch. Well, might as well just let it stay, it looked so happy after all.

Mitra really didn't want to go to this event, but a few weeks ago when she had brought it up to her parents in one of her letters they prompted her to go. They felt that she needed more interaction, more friends, to experience different things. Easy for them to say, they weren't deaf. A hall with this many people and she couldn't hear a single thing. She couldn't hear the music, she couldn't hear people laughing, it was all just silence and it wasn't fun at all. If anything it was frightening.

Someone tapped her on the shoulder and she immediately turned, it was one of the freshling caretakers! Thank goodness! The nice Imp signed to her and asked her if she was enjoying herself. The naga didn't want to worry the caretaker so she signed "I'm having so much fun!" The imp smiled and handed a necklace to her. Mitra smiled back, it wasn't really her thing, but maybe Ollie would want it?

Cuileann was asked if she would take Karayas to the festival, Karayas knew she could not go alone and she had become friends with Cuileann.

Cuileann could not resist the "face" as she called it whenever Karayas was happy so she agreed to take her to the festival. "We will have fun, but remember you must stay with me at all times" she admonished to her. Karayas readily agreed anything to go to festival and eat all the sweet treats, play games and run around like the freshling she was.

Walking inside the entrance Karayas was entranced by everything she saw, this was her first festival and she could not wait to experience it all. Cuileann watched her and smiled to herself, knowing Karayas would have fun and in the process Cuileann was gaining something valuable, a chance to mingle with her fellow students and hopefully make new friends something she had been trying to do since she came here.

Karayas saw something fly through the air and was curious, turning to Cuileann asked if they could go see what it was. Laughing Cuileann agreed and off the went to investigate. They found a game where you hit a lever and a small stuffed skyfish flies through the air and you have to get it to land in the small flower in the water. Karayas wanted to play so Cuileann helped her and then picked up the small mallet and played herself. Karayas missed but Cuileann's stuffed skyfish landed in the middle one and she won. Stunned she was given her choice of a trinket or plushie. Karayas said Plushie so she chose the lovely green one.

User ImageWhen Callessa had heard that there was going to be a dance for juniors and seniors, she had wasted no time. Haha, no, she had wasted time--all those years of staring with longing at her best friend and never having the courage to ask. That was wasted time. But when the party was announced, Cal had immediately rung up her friend's number, and without hesitation, had asked Eidil to go to the dance with her. Clearly, strongly, asked her. That had been about three weeks ago--now Callessa was wearing a blue dress covered in sparkling sequins, still a little confused as to how she had gotten to this point. But she'd gotten to this point, and now, pushing through the early crowd, Eidil was here, with a sparkling fascinator in her short hair and wearing a saffron sleeveless dress. Eidil smiled and Cal melted a little. "You look positively ravishing, Cal," she said happily. Eidil linked her arm in Cal's. Cal was very glad this arm belonged to her as it began to push her forward slightly. "I love what you did with your hair, and that dress brings out your eyes so well--well--most of your eyes--"

Cal blushed. "You picked this dress out for me, Eidil," she said. "Something about it matching with you?"

"Yes, I wanted to make sure that our shade of yellow matched." The Demoness pointed to the sequins on her own dress. "And the shade of blue. That way, people know we're together."

"Isn't that what arms are for...?"

Eidil laughed. "Well...yes, but...some people are kind of clueless, Cal. Come on, let's go over here."

Cal looked in the direction Eidil was pointing. There was a squirt gun game set up there. "Aren't you worried about our dresses--?"

Eidil shook her head. "Nah. There's a splash guard. C'mon!"

Cal settled in her chair and prepared to go at the sound of the call. They were playing against a third player, who won the game--but there were consolation prizes to be had. She picked out a bouquet of roses, which she presented to Eidil. "For you," she said. She felt a blush in her cheeks, but ignored it. She had chosen the gold and white bundle instead of the yellow and aqua--it somehow looked nicer.

User ImageYeah, clueless people, like herself. Prom had been announced a couple weeks ago, and while she had been startled when Cal called her about the prom, she had thought nothing of it at the time. Cal's voice had been even, calm, assured--so Eidil had assumed that this would be a...well, a thing they would do with friends. Besides, her adorable roommate wasn't going (she'd asked him first, he had refused), so it wasn't like she had any other date? Going on a date with friends is fun, so she'd said yes, and that had been that.

Then they'd gone shopping for dresses, because Eidil had this brilliant idea that they should get matching prom dresses (which they didn't exactly have, since the two of them liked different styles of dress, even if each of them liked the same colors), and seeing Cal in that dress had made Eidil realize that her friend was...well, she wasn't a freshling anymore, and certainly Eidil herself wasn't one, either!

Seeing Cal here, with the shoes and the purse and the hair done up nicely, with the earrings and the make-up? Holy cow, how had Eidil let this slip by all her life?! Dangnabbit! She had to do something, and do something fast, before Cal figured what she was worth. Er, that came out wrong. She needed to claim Cal before Cal realized that she was a total bombshell who could have any Nightmare--or Daydream--she wanted. Dang!

She settled in the seat next to Cal, and her eyes couldn't help but constantly flicker over to her friend to see what she was doing. Just...arranging herself in her seat (and in her dress) and yeah, wow, Eidil needed to, um...pay attention, because the game keeper was shouting go, and...

So she and Cal didn't win--someone else did--but she still got to pick out a consolation prize. With Cal holding out a gorgeous gold and white bouquet to her, she knew she had to pick one in return. "For you!" she said, holding out the on she had picked. Her voice had gone all high-pitched and squeaky. The one Cal had picked for her was lovely--the gold was similar to the color of their dresses, but the grey leaves accented it so nicely, and the white flowers were so bright and soft...The one she picked for Cal was one of orange and red blooms, trimmed with pale yellow. They were autumnal colors--ones she associated with Cal (minus the bright blue she always associated with her oldest friend...)

Giggling nervously and clutching their precious bouquets, the girls moved on to the next booth.
