Arctica waited patiently for Cypress to speak again and the silence stretched long enough for awkwardness to descend once again upon them. She had thought she had caught the stallion's attention for a moment there when she had been speaking. He had looked up and stopped his muttering but he had quickly become distracted again. His bright eyes were glazed over and unfocused, staring in her direction but off to the side. It was disconcerting to see--she had never met anyone who could be easily distracted and dismissive while in the middle of a conversation.
She looked around, her eyes falling back down onto the herd and she focused her eyes on the flowing bonfire in the center. She could two a few bodies around the fire, warming themselves as the night rapidly chilled. When she looked back up, Cypress was still staring into the distant, his mind consumed with a dozen thoughts and ignorant once again of her presence.

Companionship was such a curious thing, Cypress idly mused, his eyes fixed unblinkingly at the distance just to the left of the other mare that he had very decidedly forgotten about again. It was an incredibly bad habit of his that became increasingly noticeable as he spent more and more of his time around others. In the past, his thoughts had often wandered as he walked or whenever he took a moment to lay and bask in the moonlight. He had met up and spoke with strangers rare enough that he had never noticed a pattern but as interactions became more and more common with him, his thoughts often wandered off, following the last train of though down into a rabbit hole. His thoughts continued on, heedless of the mare who waited by.
