"Finn," replied Finn, and then awkwardly gestured to the name tag ironed to his chest. "Or Ranger Derouen," he added. Never Huckleberry. "Glad to, um, help."

He gestured up past the seawall to the road, where a parks department truck was parked. "I've gotta get back to the station," he said, "but take care, and maybe I'll see you later."

"Okay, Ranger Derouen..." Jamie was never one to ignore someone's authority, even in name, even if they assured him addressing them casually was alright. The look on his face and the tone of his voice weren't nearly as nervous and awkward as they'd been before, though. It was obvious he was genuinely appreciative of the information and hell, maybe even a little happy, too.

"I, um... I will. See you," he said with a small wave, thinking it would be pretty nice to see Finn again, maybe even as part of the junior ranger program. It was okay to dream, wasn't it?

A bit later, after calling his mom for a ride, Jamie stopped into the visitor center to pick up an info packet and didn't stop reading over it, even when she pulled into the parking lot. He couldn't wait to get home and tell his fish all about this.
