Psykgi Mentha

"Oh my gog, Leeroi!" Psykgi's delighted cry heralded her rush over to her moirail's stall. "You made it!" she leaned against the fence of the preparatory pen, just delighted, "You actually got these little guys going in time!" She surveyed the robo-gerbils, honestly impressed.

Well if it wasn't another bright banner-filled booth. Man, bloodfest was all up and full of miracles. All those colours, splayed out against the stark snowy backdrop like blood in a mouth full of sharp white teeth. Meandering over to this booth, Fletch blinked as a blueblood sped past him and the redblood already in the booth, practically leaping on top of what Fletch was guessing was the booth owner. A grin tugged at Fletch's face as they scuffled. What a display of blue-blooded brotherhood!

Darn, those little robo-gerbils were cool though. Fletch leaned on the side of the pen, Toothdad standing up on his hind legs to peer into the pen too.

"Darn, you're a cool lil' bro with your robolegs. Bet you're gonna run circles round your opponent, hey PeePaws?"

“Ger…Brawl?” Panili mumbled. She fiddled with her sleeves and in her mind’s eye saw a lengthy gerbil with red-hot sight seekers. Shaking her head of the weird thought, she turned to follow where the event was taking place and gasped. Not only was there a gerbil with red eyes, but another gerbil outfitted with bizarre robot legs. What was this?

“Excuse me… Is this safe? Are these creatures being robotically altered? Are you… Making them FIGHT?” She frowned and put her hands on her sides. Fighting for entertainment in this bloodsoaked society was one thing, and abusing creatures to do so for no reason was absurd. There was no rhyme or reason to their robotic imprisonment…! Except for tickets, of course. Panili rushed up to the gerbils and looked at both of them with a bit of panic. In order to minimize the damage she’d at least need to give one of them a fighting chance. Then maybe Shmothma could sneakily transport them away in her mouth or something.

Panili took in a deep breath. She had to commit! “Okay, Showoff! Don’t get crushed out there, okay? Use your lasers for good, or science!” Panili leaned in and whispered conspiratorially. “Or take that blueblood’s eye out for some poetic justice.” She snuck the creature a gerbil treat.

Poe tapped his cane against the snow until he made his way to another booth. Thankfully, Lanata was able to push him around when he went a weird way and keep him on his wobbly feet. He really should have worn pants, but thankfully he was very bundled top-ways with his jackets. Poe stood around, trying to figure out what this booth was about. It seemed this booth had something to do with gerbils, judging by the screaming. Poe loved gerbils! He even missed the ones he got last Bloodfest...

It seemed like he could cheer for one of the gerbils, and well, he had a soft spot for the cute one with metal legs, just like he had a metal arm! "Go Peepaws!" he said, clapping his gloved hands together. Clearly that was the best one, and would win. "You can do it!" he said.

After her embarrassment at the strange paper bag booth, Tevini had fled (okay walked away) to get lost in the crowd to avoid explaining her stupid accident to Cerpin. As she wandered, loud noises caught her attention and she peered over at a very enthusiastic booth. It was about gerbils?

'What drivel.' It seemed to be another game for meatheads. The girl started to turn away when she noticed one of the gerbils had robotic legs. Wait what!? Startled, she began to observe the second one.

"So that one has evasive ability while the other uses artificial laser technology..." Mumbling to herself, the girl began to try and calculate the odds, getting excited despite herself.

"C'mon Showoff, show them what you can do!"

Alifax, on a break from his post with the tandem scarf, was fairly confused by what he was seeing. What was the point of these...robots, if they completely lacked edible meat? That one could barely stand, and that one...

Actually, those eyes reminded him of his own, totally not stolen security system. "Are you taking bets?" he asked the...the guy. Oh, yeah, this guy had been at the murder masquerade. Kursha had punched him.

...honestly, Alifax wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do here. He scratched his head tentatively. He didn't even want to spend his money, although he was in the uncomfortable situation of having too much of it right now. In denominations that were far too large for this sort of event. He watched some mindless shouting, shrugged, and found one of his own beetles, which he had actually technically earned rather than, you know, pilfering from now-dead highbloods. "That one," he said, picking Showoff at random. That was Frossa's aesthetic, right?

What? Cheer it on? It wasn't even sentient. How was he supposed to ******** talk to it? Well... "I hope the mechanic assigned to its care remembers to oil its joints prior to the match," he said, directly to the booth owner. Then he left. If he won anything, he could collect later.

The lights dimmed in the, signaling everyone that the fight was to about begin. A spotlight beamed down on the first contestant, Peepaws, who scampered about on his robot feet, drumming up more attention and cheers from the crowd. Squeaking with delight, he waited for the buzzer he had been carefully trained to listen for.

The other light shined down on Showoff, gleaming off her eyes. With a quick, dramatic pose, she tested her lasers, shooting at a piece of debris lingering in the ring. A loud "pew" reverbed through the arena, and the object caught fire, disintegrating in a moments notice. Smiling gerbilishly, Showoff returned to her corner, posing for the crowd.

Peepaws won? Peepaws won. Excellent. It looked like the booth was pretty popular, too: Great! Of course, Psykgi came back the next night. Good gog, the gerbils were cute.

"Hi, Flippy! Hi Lifts!" How many times had Lifts knocked over her cup of juice while visiting?! So many. So very many. Meanwhile, she'd tested Flippy's spring by pushing him onto his back and rubbing his belly, while Leeroi was still perfecting it. So cute! Much cuter than sticky messes, though her lusus hadn't minded, ah, cleaning that up. And Leeroi hadn't minded it either.

So, really, there wasn't much of a grudge, but Psykgi knew which gerbil she preferred.

"Sorry, Lifts." she said, "I think you're probably going to lose this one!" she gave Flippy a scritch under the chin, "Go get that juice-spilling b*****d!" she giggled. Well, it was a form of revenge. Also, Flippy had the advantage – a gerbil that can't be flipped, against a gerbil specializing in flipping? Yeah. No contest.

Her bet placed and her treat offered, Psykgi stood back to see just who would come to her moirail's stall today...
