Jalase blinked, surprised by what Key was offering him. He had been thinking of ways to earn a little extra coin — even had plans to check out the local bulletin board that jobs were posted on. He hadn’t, though, expected to find a job from a random stranger he met on the streets. It took him a moment before he found his voice to speak, but his excitement at the possibility of exploring and earning some coin was very evident. “I would love that. Exploring? Heck yeah.” Jal took a deep breath and told himself to calm down a bit. “Are you...sure about the coin, though?”

Kieran chuckled at the other's excitement, "Yes I'm sure about the coin. It's not going to be easy so you'll deserve it for the work. Plus, if we find anything truly interesting the merchants might truly some good change for it. Depending on that you might have more than the initial tidbit i'm offering." That stated the male pushed his glasses back up his nose and glanced around, "Should we finish our tour and get some supplies? Unless you need more time to prepare?" He glanced over towards Jalase with a small smile.
He hadn't used any hired help before because he didn't easily trust others to get the job done or to behave with the goods, but he had a good feeling about Jalase. That reaction was even so open. Kieran doubted any malicious intent rested there.

Jalase shook his head and replied, “I’ve not much else with me. As I said, my only weapon is pretty much useless right now. And other than what I have on me, I have a cloak and some changes of clothes back with my parents.” Speaking of which, Jal frowned and rubbed the back of his neck for a moment. “Though I suppose I should let them know what I’m doing. So maybe we can head back towards the market place, grab something to eat and then head out?”

Kieran nodded, "Sounds fine by me." He glanced around, "I have enough supplies, but just to make certain I'll also purchase some more. After all I wasn't expecting to provide for two on my adventures now."
He was excited. Anytime that an adventure began the yaeli was always curious to see what would await. For now though he would just have to bide his time and begin plotting exactly how they would get to the area in question. Perhaps I'll choose an easier location... It would be less toil than the other area he had thought of venturing into.

Jalase grinned at Key as he lead the other yaeli off back to the marketplace and, ultimately, back to his parents’ stall. After explaining the situation and what they planned on doing, Jal’s parents reluctantly allowed him to go off with Key. But not before shoving enough food to last them well into tomorrow (though Jal was sure they wouldn’t be gone that long). Jal moved away from his parents’ stall, shaking his head and smiling. “I’m actually surprised it didn’t take me longer to convince them to let me go,” he said as he glanced around the other places and lead Key off to find the extra supplies they needed. Once they were both satisfied, Jal glanced to Key and raised an eyebrow. “So where are we off to, then?”

Well that was a rather convenient way to get supplies. Kieran just breezed through the markets as he gathered rope and other necessities. For once the Yaeli had to balance his load - thanks to the generous amounts of food from Jal's family. "Then we better hurry in case they change their mind." Teased Kieran with a grin, "We're off to..." Pursing his lips thoughtfully the male pulled out a worn leather book and flipped it a few pages. "To the South." That stated he slung his knapsack back over his shoulder and began walking. The terrain would become rough soon enough as they ventured away from the main paths and away from the telltale signs of the city. He just hoped that this place would lead them to something interesting... Soon enough they would cut into some heavy foliage as the rain forest began to grow around them. It was wetter here, more like a smog that anything else. "if you need a break we can take one. Also, feel free to point out anything that you might think is interesting." Commented Kieran as they began.

Jalase returned the grin and followed after Key. An adventure was something that Jal had been needing and he was very glad he had randomly ran into this man. There was, the off chance, that Key was crazy and something bad would happen to Jalase, but he didn’t give that much thought as the pair of them made their way out of the city and into the wilderness of Yael. At the mention of Jal pointing out anything he saw that was interesting, he wrinkled his nose. What was interesting? What did Key deem worthy enough for Jal to stop their trek to their destination. Frowning, Jalase asked as much. “What exactly are we looking for? What counts as ‘interesting’ for you?”

"Something interesting." Kieran chuckled as he glanced back to his companion, "That's the perks of venturing into the unknown, not even I know what I'm really looking for here. Mostly I collect crystals to sell or old relics. So if you see something that just makes you question what it is then that may be a good find. Shards of pottery with old engravings, lost jewelry, strange stones, things from the past...those are the things that I typically collect."
His gaze lit up when he spotted something that was barely jutting out of the swampy waters, "Here." Moving forward Kieran balanced on a fallen log while he reached out with a hand. His fingertips brushed against a strange rock that seemed rather grimy and lumpy, but eventually he rolled it closer. "This might seem strange, but bear with me." Leaping back towards dry land Kieran held out the rock. "Sometimes these fossils are around as well. I will gladly accept any of them." It seemed rather strange and foul with the outside crested in muck, but even underneath the grim the thing seemed absolutely dull.
"Should I show you why?" The male smiled as he held out the strange piece of rock.

Jalase watched as Kieran moved over towards what seemed like an ordinary rock, and began to work it out of the muck. He wrinkled his nose at the grime that covered it when Kieran held it up for him to inspect. “You’re kidding me, right? It just looks like a rock.” Jal reached out with one finger and reluctantly poked at it. “Yup, feels like a rock too.” He tilted his head as he looked from the rock and Kieran. “You have my curious. Show me what mysterious this...rock...holds.”

"Alright then." Smirking Kieran moved over to more solid ground. Crouching on the rock surface the male began to dig through the satchel hanging at his side. From it he finally pulled a few rough looking tools, mostly long metal things almost reminiscent of a chisel and hammer, and after studying the rock with a few taps and turns in his hand Key placed it on the ground.
"You have to be careful about how you approach these...if they shatter then you really can't sell them well." He commented lightly before he began to steady his hammer. A few quick hits and then one huge crack resulted in some dust and grim flying about. But there along the rock edge was a long crack that circled around the stone. Wiping his face free of the dust, Kieran held up the stone to Jalase. "Here pull at this end."
When [it] pulled apart between them, Key held up his half. "The artisans love paying good money for these. Makes a pretty piece of jewelry after all."

Jalase watched, skeptically, as Key held the stone up. When he asked for help, Jal obliged and pulled where and when he was told to. As the stone broke apart, Jalase couldn’t help but let his eyes widen at the sight that greeted him. “Woah…” His words trailed off for a moment as he took in all the glory of the crystal sitting before him. He had seen the products made from things like this but he had never seen it in such a raw form before. Jal reached his hand out, trailing his fingers over the rough crystal and grinning. “It’s lovely. Can you teach me what to look for exactly for them so I can keep an eye out?”

Kieran chuckled at the reaction to the gemstone, "If it's round with lumps then it's probably something like this." He handed the rock over, "You can feel how it's lumpy and smooth at the same time. Anything else that's too sharp is probably just a rock...plus they seem to be lighter in color than other rocks around here." The boy shrugged, "So yeah, mostly just testing your luck." "If you see anything else that may look like a relic let me know. Those are worth a fortune, but mostly we'll be finding those rocks here." It looked like perhaps a cavern spread out across this area but then once the ceiling had collapsed a stream - now more of a swamp had grown in its place. It would be a long day of searching, but Kieran was hopeful that their work would yield some good results...
