Nimueh didn't have many friends to share the news with, at least not friends that he was as close to as Callum was to Talisia. There was Gawen, back in Zena, but he doubted his flirtatious friend would appreciate the news the same way. So, because of this, Nimueh left it to his partner to share the good news, feeling giddy and energized to the tips of his fingers. Helpless in the face of his over bounding energy and excitement, Nimueh could do little more than watch the two smaller earthlings, until Callum finally said it.

Fathers. He'd known it already, and yet hearing it announced brought on a rush of pride and giddiness through him that was addicting. Overwhelmed, he reached for Callum's hand and squeezed it, bringing it up so he could kiss the back of his hand.

Soon, their child would be here and they would be too busy to always sit back and marvel at the miracle they had received, so for now he was happy to let himself be the proud, preening parent along with Callum. "Soon, too." He added, squeezing Callum's hand again.

I just realized that Talisia can't go to Zena just yet because she doesn't know her mother is dead. So hearing that they want to raise the babies in Zena is going to sadden her. xD

"Smaller? What do you...." Talisia frowned before Callum's declaration about children made her hands go fluttering upwards to cover her mouth. Children? Callum and Nim were having children? Had she been a faint of heart earthling or even less accustomed to shocking news the girl would have just sat on the ground in her surprise. So many thoughts wondered through her head. How? Where and when? How long had they planned this? Would she be around to see such adorable children? Then once more...how?

Seeing Nim's reaction to Callum's declaration softened her heart. Callum truly seemed like he had found the perfect love. A light flush of excitement and happiness decorated her cheeks as she just shook her head with a laugh, "I can't....believe it! I mean! Babies?! You're going to be a father? Err...fathers?" The girl moved her hands around in excitement, "Soon? And how? I mean...I don't know much about Alkidikes, but earthling men can't really..." She flushed even brighter, "I mean I'm excited! Just...where are you going to be raising them and how prepared are you?" She glanced between the two with a finger pointed towards Callum especially, "I'll help you if you need anything." It wasn't a declaration of disappointment, but rather of support.

Talisia just shook her head once more, "Not only do I find out my friend is alive and well...I find his lover and now hear he is having babies too?" She smiled at Callum, "Seems like you've had a busy life while we've been apart. I'm so happy for you." She glanced towards Nim, "Let me know if you two need anything? Honestly...I'll do what I can to help. I'm staying in Jauhar for a while as it is."

Tenderness and pride swelled inside of Callum. He felt the warmth of his lover's lips against his skin, and knew in his heart that this was where he was meant to be. To begin a family with someone who cherished him so much, and allowed him to do the same brought indescribable emotion to the hybrid. All at once he wanted to shout, laugh, cry, and just run around like a mad man. Did all parents feel this way when they were expecting? If so, then how did they manage to keep it all contained and not go insane!

He squeezed his partner's hand while observing Talisia. "Fathers," he confirmed with a chortle. "I'll think we're as prepared as first time parents can be, but I'll be sure to let you know if we need anything." And he meant it this time. It was going to be hard, trying to air his concerns and let his worries be made public, but Callum was going to try.

As for the how...Callum looked to Nimueh. He wasn't sure how much his partner was going to be comfortable with sharing, and didn't want to over step any boundaries. Also, there was the question of raising their child. Callum knew they were going to be going to Zena once the babe was old enough to travel, but he wasn't exactly sure when.

I am so, so sorry this took so long!! ;_;

Simply seeing her pure excitement to the news filled Nimueh was a fondness that he didn't think he could feel for someone he had just met. It was wonderfully reassuring, to know Callum had such a dear friend... while also saddening because they often had such distance between them. The entirety of Nim and Callum's courtship, and the subsequent decision to have children had all been made in the space of time since Callum had last seen her, and it could be again that long before they reunited again.

It was bittersweet, but far from unwelcome. Her questions still plucked a chord, however, even if she hadn't meant to do so, but Nimueh merely smiled, a soft but somewhat somber smile. "Despite being raised Alkidike, growing up in Zena means forfeiting my rights to my own bloodline. ... So. We've found a surrogate who has given us this chance." With the sadder admission out of the way, Nimueh cleared his throat and looked to his lover, feeling at once shy and fit to burst with excitement. For now, he kept it contained and bumped shoulders with Callum, squeezing his fingers. "... We'll stay in Jauhar for a time, until the child can be seperated from their ... Eema. Her name is Eema. But once they can travel, we planned on going to Zena."

My turn to take five years! *Bricked*

"I'll hold you to that." Talisia grinned at her friend while her stomach did a flip. Callum truly was in love with Nim...it was almost enough to make her jealous to watch the pair. Was this what it was like to dedicate your heart to another? Her cheeks flushed lightly at the thought. Not that she had anyone in mind to do that with! Still - it seemed rather nice. After all those years of dreading the feeling these two made it seem almost like a nice dream rather than a nightmare. Perhaps her parents hadn't been the best example of what lovers should be...

Her gaze softened at the explanation, but the girl swallowed her apology. If she apologized that felt like it would only be digging more into the wound, "They always say things happen for a reason. Still, just think soon enough you'll have little ones to pull you both about!" She smiled playfully, "Just hope that they don't take after Callum too much else you'll have to use a lot of energy to keep them out of trouble." Her expression did darken slightly at the mention of Zena and she gazed to Callum - almost pleadingly- before shaking her head. "Well until then I can visit as much as possible. I'll be in Jauhar for a few moons at least until the winds whisk me away again."

SIX THOUSAND YEARS LATER

Post Seven

Callum weaved his fingers around Nimueh's, giving them a supportive squeeze before tucking himself in close to the Alk's side. 'Forfeiting his rights' was enough of a phrase to make his jaw tense; the only outward sign that he gave as to how pissed off he'd been at the time. He knew there was little an outsider could do to change their minds, but Gods, if they'd only taken the time to get to know Nimueh they would have seen just how much he revered Aisha. For that matter Callum had been entirely prepared for his children to wear dreads and sing her praises, but now...now he just wanted to move on.

With a brush of his hip against Nimueh's, Callum broke their contact to close the space between himself and Talisia. He knew what the separation would be like, especially with him being in the one area that had caused her so much grief. Callum took her hands into his and passed her a sympathetic smile. "It won't be for long; just until the babe is old enough to travel. In the mean time you'll have to write us, and tell us all about your adventures so we can stay caught up. I would offer to do the same, but I'm not so sure you want to know the details of changing an infant. Maybe a little gossip about what Nim says in his sleep, but other than that-" He shrugged his shoulders.

... Clearly, Nimueh wasn't aware of the details of Talisia's situation. He had heard plenty of stories from Callum, but he expected this was one of the things that simply wasn't Callum's to share. That being said, Nimueh could see the tension as soon as he mentioned Zena, and besides that Callum's reaction was to comfort her and reassure her. How could Nimueh not do the same, when she had been kind enough to do the same for him only moments before?

Of course, before then he had to address the mammu in the room. His eyes widened, and Nim swallowed, audibly, purposefully overreacting to lighten the mood. "Goddess, how would I be able to survive two like that? I can barely handle one." Shaking his head, Nimueh playfully bumped Callum back, then crossed his arms, relaxing as the two friends spoke, snorting. "Yes, write us. Let Callum live vicariously through you, I'm sure he'll be dieing of boredom staying in one place for too long." It was, honestly, the biggest of gestures from Callum that he was agreeing to settle for as long as they'd need to to raise a child.

ONE DAY LATER! TIME WARP?!

Post # Something

Biting her lower lip, Talisia glanced up as Callum grabbed her hands. Taking a deep breath the hybrid finally nodded with a small smile, "Zena is a beautiful place, I'm glad that you can show that part to them. Please don't let them see anything else besides the beauty of the snow and the warmth of a hearth." She managed in a small whisper. As much as her own past pained her and prevented her from returning home, the girl was thankful to see that new life and new hopes could spread in her homeland. After all Zena wasn't a terrible place, it just had one person who was terrible to her in it. That was all.

She did laugh at his commentary, "Perhaps that may be exciting as well - especially the idea of you doing it. Still, I suppose I'll take a bit of that gossip. I'm sure Nim is a very interesting sleep talker." She winked playfully towards the ice hybrid before smiling again. She could tell that the boys were trying their hardest to keep the mood light and the girl definitely wanted to help with that.

"I will make certain to do that. I'll move all over Tendaji and send you word of even the tiniest of weather changes." She teased lightly, "In return I expect details about the babies and how many times they manage to set your home on fire when you aren't looking~"

Without even looking at his lover Callum rolled his eyes with a very loud, dramatic sigh. "The feeling is entirely mutual, sweet heart. If our child is anything like you then I'll be dwarfed by the time it's three years old." Callum reached out to pop Nimueh playfully on the stomach, then gestured up at his height to make his point clear.

"I'll hold you to it, Talisia. Every little - wait, fire? I'm pretty sure you're talking about your future children now." Gods above, that put an extra worry in his heart. What if his child did set fire to the home while they were gone? "The warmth of a hearth" would take on a new meaning then. Still, his newfound paternal panic wasn't enough to detract from his smile. It simply felt too nice to have his best friend and his partner in the same place, talking as if they had known each other for years.

It was kind of her to wish them well, even when she was so clearly distressed. Perhaps that was why Nimueh was so eager to distract from the topic. Even so, being the butt of their jokes elicited a pout and a soft grunt of displeasure, narrowing his eyes playfully at the shorter hybrids. "You're traitors, the lot of you." He accused grumpily.

Oh goddess, here it was. One mention of 'fire' and he could see the growing panic in Callum's eyes. Perhaps now Callum would think about his own penchant for death-tempting pursuits? Lets just hope it wasn't a family trait.

"Well, Eema is quite tall, so I wouldn't expect anything less." He answered, finally, patting his hand against Callum's shoulder with a huff of laughter.

Shoot me guys. ; 3 ; I didn't realize it was my turn.

Watching the interaction between lovers brought a smile to Talisia's features. Even if she personally was terrified of the past she left behind in her home land at least with these two she felt the children could truly enjoy the best that Zena had to offer. If not I'll have to track Callum down and give him a good fist of reason.

"You're never letting me live that down, but if you would behave then these things wouldn't happen." She replied with a slight grin, "Still, maybe that's why it's best for me to never settle. I'm too busy traveling for such things." Talisia looked up towards Nimueh, "Then I'm sure they will grow taller than me as well, hopefully I'll get to see them before that time." She teased lightly, "It'll be hard to help watch them when they're adults already hunting out in the world. Though I'm sure it'll take a while for that to happen yet~"

Callum reached back to playfully pop Nimueh on the stomach. "Who're you calling a traitor? Remember, I know where you sleep." He looked back and up into his lover's eyes, eyebrows wagging enough to match his grin.

With all this talk of heights, and aging, it was almost as if his future child was already an adult! If that wasn't enough to give Callum a complex the simple fact that yes, his child (or children, depending on fate), was likely to outgrow him by their adolescent years was. How was he supposed to discipline someone a head taller than himself? You'll send them to Nim, that's what.

Yes yes, good plan.

"For the time being we're staying with my grandmother and I'm sure she would love to see you again, Talisia. You should come by while you're in the area, and dine with us."

It was bittersweet, to talk about their children growing already... but also the reality that it very well may be later in their lives before they had to fortune to run into her again. It was a scary thought, that Callum would be without his friend for so long. Before he could dwell on it too much, however, Callum had popped him, and the man's thoughts spiraled away like clouds as he inched away, hiding partly behind Talisia, and away from Callum's offending hand. "Yes- please!" Nimueh urged, feeling uncharacteristically social.

"If we could trace down that treat Eema wanted - right Callum?" She'd skin them both with the sheer force of her newly found pregnant fury if they dare return without it; that and if he was sure Corine would wring Callum up if she didn't get a chance to catch up with another of his friends while she had the chance. Nim still barely knew her, and yet he felt she would feel... strongly about these things.

Talisia's expression brightened at the invitation, "I will definitely take you up on that." She smiled at the playful banter going on between the two. It was probably best if she allowed the parents to be to continue on their way as well. Reaching out she hugged Callum on last time without warning before turning to smile at Nimueh before doing the same for him, "I'll surely see you both soon enough. You better not keep Eema waiting else you'll truly have to worry about your futures then." She teased lightly before bowing her head and giving them a soft wave.

It was hard turning her back on the boys, but she forced her body to turn as she started to move away. She'd see them soon enough after all so there was no need for sorrow~ Not yet at least. She smiled slightly at the thought before continuing on again...

Callum jutted his lower lip out with an expression of mock hurt. Did Nimueh think he was safe behind Talisia?...because he was absolutely right, Callum wouldn't pass through that woman for anything! But later, oh later...

His soft, grey eyes widened. "Yes, yes, I almost forgot. She would strung us both up if we left here without it." Eema had been so soft before the pregnancy, and now she was a monstrous tempest when crossed. He hadn't known she had it in her before being directly faced with it. In all likelihood Callum would insist on buying the vendor out of her favorite treat just to ensure their safety.

It was hard to bid his friend adieu, since it had been so long since their last goodbye, but Callum knew he would see her again. Hopefully for dinner and if not...well, time had a way of bringing them back together.

Right now they had niblets to buy.
