The Only Black Uke

Jak...painted a far more passionate rendition of their supposed 'relationship' than Hargitt. He blanched a little around talk of "forbidden rugged sex" and wondered what sort of life this man had lived so far to think like that. Unconsciously Hargitt's frosted gaze, already down turned to look at Jak, traveled a little further before making it's way back up. And as soon as he realized what he'd done Hargitt clamped a little box in his brain shut and focused with the right head.

He really just wished Jakkoa would stop talking about 'unquenchable thirst'

Hargitt reached his hand out and took Jakkoa's in a firm, yet brief, shake. His fingers were calloused, scarred and generally rough to the touch. Definitely not hands made for long term hand shakes.

He was a bit overwhelmed by the wealth of information pouring out of Jakkoa. Did the man never exhaust himself by talking this much? And why would the season of his birth be necessary for any sort of commitment, marital or not?

"I am, indeed, Hargitt, the third born son." A swatch of hair fell over his shoulder when he shifted his stance, partially blocking the view of his left eye, but Hargitt made no motion to push it away. "Twenty two summers in age, I like...." There shouldn't have been a pause. He should have been able to spout out as much, if not more, information about himself than Jakkoa. And yet, what hobbies did he have? Did he have a favorite anything?

There was one thing...

"...I like music. Singing, mostly, or lighter instruments, when played in the moonlight."
He couldn't exactly put a finger on why that was so pleasant to him, or why it should be special, but it was. Hopefully that would do.

Kiss? Now he wanted to...While not disgusted by the idea, Hargitt also wasn't pleased by the idea and yet it made sense. "...Alright then. How do you want to do this?"
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2016 3:24 pm

When Hargitt’s eyes moved, Jakkoa’s lips curved, but he said nothing aloud, making private note instead that the man might actually be interested in men after all, but leaving that for further investigation at a later date. Hargitt’s grip swallowed his. Firm and well-worked, but so quick to retreat that Jak again noted: shy. It was such a strange characteristic, he thought, for someone so large in his own right, and intriguing. But that, too, Jak left for later pondering.

“I play, you know,” Jak said. “A small qiita…a stringed instrument. I am not amazing at it, but I’ve kept up with it and I write songs on occasion. Perhaps you approached me some year or two ago on one of our earlier visits, after nightfall when most everyone else was off busy. You found me practicing, drawn in by the melody or an off key note. After you approached and introduced yourself, we got to talking, based on our combined interest…”

Jakkoa reached, catching at one of Hargitt’s wrists and guiding it to his hip as he stepped in, closing up most of the minimal space left between them.

“You, of course, found me mesmerizing and engaging and effortlessly attractive, and I…” With the opposite hand, one still holding Hargitt’s first to his hip, Jak caught at the man’s other wrist, lifting this time to his neck and encouraging as best he could to fit Hargitt’s fingers against his nape while guiding his thumb forward to the back nook of his jawline. Then, Jak notched his chin up, and lifted his lashes, glancing from Hargitt’s eyes, to his lips. “I thought you were a little brusque and shy on the uptake, but…charming, in a sort of…” The hand previously holding Hargitt’s to his hip lifted, brushing up the center line of Hargitt’s chest before hooking at the niche between neck and shoulder, “…endearing, earthy, farmboy way…”

It wasn’t, admittedly, a position Jak had imagined fitting himself into that afternoon—or certainly not in this manner—but it wasn’t altogether unpleasant, and if the theatrics of it all won him a position pressed against a body of warm stone and a few kisses along the way, he wasn’t about to complain.

“This would be, by the way, about the point where you kiss me,” he added. “I would suggest a sort of…slow lean for dramatic and romantic effect. Feel free to grip my hair, but not so much that you muss it, and you might attempt to school your expression into something a little less pained and terrified so it doesn’t look as though you’re about to fulfill some deep but troublesome obligation. And of course do try to make it look natural—surely you’ve kissed before, yes? I would volunteer to initiate, but you’re a bit…” Glancing up, Hargitt’s chin was perhaps even with the top of Jakkoa’s head, if that. “High. So aside from me climbing you…”

The Only Black Uke

Jak was a very good story teller; so good that it made Hargitt wary. What other things were stirring within his mind? He would have to stay on his toes with this one. It was good that he had so much practice in guarding himself, then. Better to defend against velvet vipers.

No. Nononono
. While Hargitt neither blushed nor did he falter in the placement of his hand atop a well sculpted hip he didn't care for it. The touch seemed all together too intimate for someone he barely knew, but he kept the contact out of necessities sake. If he couldn't play the part of a besotted lover then this entire plan was doomed to failure from the start.

Effortlessly attractive?
Hargitt snorted. He highly doubted that Jakkoa's appearance was effortless. This seemed like the sort of man who would put a lot of work into his exterior, if only to flaunt it around others like a proud bird or some sort of colorful fish. It made him easy on the eyes, but Hargitt was doubtful that Jak's allure was purely 'natural' beauty.

His hand was stiff in Jak's, moving mechanically to touch the supple flesh of his neck. While his hold may have been visually what was needed, nothing about his posture suggested 'ease' or 'relaxed', even 'passionate' around Jakkoa. The texture of hair slipping over the backs of his knuckles helped to loosen him up somewhat, though not by much.

His breath hitched as those guiding fingers made their way up his chest. It was an involuntary reaction; one he wasn't able to keep back like the rest. Hargitt was conflicted; physically he was warming up quickly to the contact, but mentally he wanted nothing more than to push Jakkoa away.

"I am a fulfilling an obligation."
And it was certainly troublesome. He was going to have to keep up the charade for a while now, so hopefully with time he wouldn't feel as if acid was trying to crawl up through his throat every time he thought about kissing Jak.

If he was going to do this...might as well go all out.

Hargitt slipped the hand that rested on Jak's hip across his lower back, then lowered his forearm underneath his rump. Using his hand as leverage, Hargitt hoisted the smaller man up and held him flush with his chest once they were eye to eye, "Hook your legs around my hips, and watch out for the crystals." Large, spiky crystals protruded from the exterior of Hargitt's hips, elbows and shoulders. It made passionate embraces difficult, but then again, it wasn't as if he'd been practicing much.

His other hand rooted away from Jak's throat and into his hair, cupping the back of his head. Like a man preparing for a plunge into cold water, or removing an arrow from his flesh, Hargitt steeled his nerves right before leaning in to place his lips against Jak's.

As the larger man’s breath hitched, Jak kept a hum of satisfaction to himself. Naturally it was all a means to an end, but he had no complaints in the meantime as to what their planned act ‘obligated’ them to do—and there was a certain sort of subtle draw to the other’s shyness. Different, certainly, than the way most approached him.

“In a sense you are,” Jak admitted. “But what I meant by it was that if this is to be convincing, you oughtn’t look as though y—”

When the hand at his hip slid back, Jakkoa blinked once, words trailing off and eyebrows then notching up immediately after as the palm moved further, braced, and hoisted him up by his rear. He needed no extra prompting, his body moving reflexively to pinch his knees in at the larger man’s hips and legs then following up to loop and synch. He shot the man a Look, close range and balanced precariously between amusement, surprise, and something else toeing along the lines of, ‘Well, that was bold of you…’ Before he could do more than open his mouth, however, the other man was leaning in, dipping, and—

Needless to say, it was not the most graceful of moments on either of their parts. Stiff, forced pressing. Uncertainty, and due to Jakkoa’s surprise in no small part, no initial movement. For several exaggeratedly long moments, it was just that: their mouths together, physically in contact, and bodies twined, but stillness otherwise. Then, puffing out through his nose, Jakkoa shifted his weight, almost-but-not-quite squirming against the larger man, breaking back away from the kiss and opening his mouth to say something—and then changing his mind and adjusting his grip instead. And leaning back in.

He wasn’t sure what exactly he had been expecting. Perhaps ‘one of the stiffest and most awkward kisses to date’ is what he ought to have seen coming. But he hadn’t, and there was no changing that now. At least, of all situations he had found himself in, being held off the ground with a firm hand under him while playing mouth-to-mouth with an attractive, if rigid man wasn’t the worst of them.

Still.

“You might pretend to enjoy yourse—you have kissed someone intentionally and with interest before, have you not?” Jak repeated. “Because, chore and obligation as it might be to you, rest assured that when most interested lovers engage, they do normally welcome it…”

They also did not spend a great deal of time critiquing or complaining about their ‘beloved’s’ kissing style, but that seemed to Jak to be more within the scope of necessity in the moment.

The Only Black Uke

It was a hard task, making sure that his "passion" was viable while making sure that Jakkoa didn't impale himself upon Hargitt's thigh crystals. Masochistic was not a word he wished to be used when describing his "lover". If he was going to paint a false picture he wanted it as rosy as possible.

This was not a moment on the top of his list. There were no sparks or any waves of feeling that might have consumed him, making it all the harder to pull himself away from the other man. Jakkoa was a relative stranger, one that Hargitt hardly knew, and thus, hadn't built up an attraction for. He tried to make it more convincing, if only to make the experience less dreadful for his partner.

And then there was a break, one that Hargitt was glad for. It gave him a chance to think, to regroup, and go over his techniq-

Only to have Jakkoa take over. And that...that made the entire experience far more enjoyable. "Yes, I have." The question barely registered to him since the little charges in his mind was saying, Hey, why not try again? It had been so long since he had kissed someone intentionally, excluding any limpid attempt from Flyssa, and he couldn't remember what they had felt like to compare.

There was absolutely no way anything Jak said after that made it's way through his ears. His mind was shut down; focused like a hunter on it's prey, and the shift would have been visible. Hargitt was less stiff, though not entirely relaxed. His eyes, however, those hardened shards of ice, didn't move away from Jakkoa's mouth. Logic told him not to, to step away now and collect himself so he could process everything that was happening, but curiosity told him to hang it all.

Hargitt moved in for a third attempt, and this time, there was far more energy to it. While not entirely unhinged, he was certainly trying with fervor this time. He nipped at Jakkoa's lower lip, pulling color into the other's flesh while his hand-

"Hargitt?!"

He nearly dropped Jak. His arms faltered for a moment, but not enough to be in danger of letting the other fall. He did, however, leaned forward and hide his face against Jak's chest, murmuring, No no no no like a mantra.

Anora Farys, matriarch to the Farys clan, stood at the entrance to the cavern. One hand was placed against the stone wall, the other on the top of her expanded womb. Her mouth drooped as if she couldn't believe what her eyes were telling her.

"And...Jakkoa? When did...? Hargitt, you have a fiance!"
PostPosted: Sun May 29, 2016 2:36 pm

Something changed.

Jak couldn’t have said what exactly, and it wasn’t perfect—there was still a very apparent stiffness in the man and uncertainty—but it was different, more. And worlds better. As Hargitt’s posture shifted and they came together for the second or third attempt, he was less rigid and almost—though Jak hesitated to think it initially—predatory. A leaning, driving, and encompassing kiss that, for a moment, tricked Jakkoa’s own pulse into stepping a notch up. There was an actual press to the heat of Hargitt’s lips, and Jak’s moved to accommodate—and pursue—his fingers sliding to press and then crimp encouragingly at the flat muscle at the back of the man’s shoulders.

When Hargitt’s teeth pinched, Jak gave a short hum of approval, the corners of his lips edging up into a smile. If they could manage this, surely any qualms Hargitt had in regards to believability would be—

“Hargitt?!”

Jak felt the jerk in Hargitt’s grip and tightened his own on instinct so as not to fall, body tense with initial surprise and yellow-gold eyes snapping sidelong to the source. But not just any source, a woman—Hargitt’s mother, Jak recognized a half second later. For a handful of perhaps five or so seconds, there was nothing but staring and recovering from initial startlement, but in that period, Jakkoa’s mind flit through the situation, the unexpected presence, their options, and—

Looping one hand up around Hargitt’s neck to brace himself, Jakkoa let his legs carefully slip, and drop, lowering him out from Hargitt’s grip and to solid ground again. He took slightly more time, though, letting his arm drop from the man’s neck, and never quite stepped away after that. Instead, after one ‘hesitant’ glance up to Hargitt, he wound his arm around the man’s waist, and sent Anora Farys a long, deliberating look, opening his mouth several times before eventually speaking.

“I…am sorry it came out in this way, Mrs. Farys. Your son and I, we…well, we intended to tell you, of course. But he was hesitant, and with you in your state, I certainly understood at least that it wouldn’t be best to stress or startle you. We were, though, intending to speak up perhaps after the child was born. When I came and heard that he was engaged, though, you must understand I was so hurt, I thought—” Jak paused, reaching to run a hand through his hair and sending an ‘abashed’ glance to Hargitt before looking back to the man’s mother. “I apologize again, I’m getting ahead of myself. Mrs. Farys, Hargitt and I have been…involved with one another for years. It wasn’t quite so serious at first, naturally, we were friends, but…it has become more than that. I love him dearly, and…I can only hope that postponing coming forward about it has not caused more trouble than can be fixed.”

The Only Black Uke

His brief moment of physicality came to a grinding halt, leaving Hargitt's mind as torn as his body. He both wanted to snap at his mother for interrupting him, since she wasn't the only one with needs, and the half of him was relieved to have a break. The newness of it all, of doing something so unlike him, left his breathing ragged.

It as in their favor that Anora took as long to process the scene before her as the boys. Hargitt knew that his mother glowered as he helped Jakkoa down to solid ground. He didn't have to look at her to know that, but a glimpse out of his peripheral view confirmed his suspicions. Had there been room for him to do so Hargitt would have moved away from Jakkoa, to put some space between them, but in the small space it would have been the other man that would need to move. However, Jak didn't seem keen to do so. His body stiffened as an arm snaked it's way around his waist, and he had to force himself into relaxing. Eventually he brought his arm to a rest against Jakkoa's shoulder, and pulled the smaller male closer to his side.

Anora moved into the cavern with a critical eye. Hargitt wasn't entirely sure what she saw, but whatever it was had her hackles up. Had she caught on already?

When Jakkoa looked to him, Hargitt reacted instantly; he gave his best 'loving' look, something he hoped looked more supportive than pained and turned his eyes back to his mother. "Now you know why I was so against marrying Flyssa. My heart already belongs to another."

Frigid eyes, so like her son's, flitted between the two. Anora Farys was a hard woman to fool; she was an expert liar, as Hargitt had found out first hand, and had been able to root out any falsehoods told by her sons throughout the years. And yet, she wasn't automatically calling them out, which gave him a shred of hope. "So, the two of you have been involved for...years, was it?, and weren't planning to tell anyone yet because you were concerned for the baby." At least, when she said it like that, Hargitt knew it sounded plausible. He never openly aired his own opinions or activities, so it was very possible for him to have a secret, not so secret, lover.

"Does your family know, Jakkoa? Or have you neglected to tell them as well?"

"They don't know."
Hargitt supplied, "We weren't planning on telling either side until after the baby was born. It didn't seem fair to tell them without letting you know as well."

"Well, I must say, this is very unexpected, and frankly, I'm disappointed in you, Hargitt. I mean no offense to you Jakkoa, but I had hoped for grand-children. Beyon that I fail to see how the two of you can make a lasting relationship work. You're a traveler, Jakkoa, and the two of you...are so different."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 19, 2016 11:05 am

Golden eyes flicked from one speaker to the other, but eventually, Jakkoa’s attention landed and stayed on the woman—Anora. Evidently she had her reservations, but the relative ease of transition from suspicion to simple objection and inquiry was promising to say the least. Jakkoa shifted his weight, subtly fitting himself into a more relaxed curve against Hargitt’s body and tipping his head.

“Grandchildren,” he said at length, “are a very distant concern, I would hope.” ‘It doesn’t look as though your family is any special need of more children at the moment at all.’ He touched the tip of his tongue to the back of his teeth, and then smiled. “That aside, however, I don’t see why anything about this would prevent us from following that path when well and truly ready if it comes to it. But more immediately…” He shifted his weight again, fingers brushing at Hargitt’s far hip as he leaned out enough to send a momentary glance the other man’s way before focusing again on Anora. “It is actually convenient that you mention travel. We…I…”

He let a moment’s hesitation hang in the air there, and dropped his gaze.

“You know that my sister is sick. I have been considering traveling Sauti, Zena…and potentially beyond that in an effort to find a lasting cure for her. I was concerned about this, of course, and his engagement to Flyssa only furthered that, as I feared it might mean the end to what we had built thus far, but…I have asked. And we intend to travel together. Of course, we hope that the journey won’t be long, but at this point there is no telling.”

There, he let his smile grow a fraction, blooming into something warmer and more amused as he glanced again to Hargitt, and then his mother. “As to our differences, I like to think they foster new ways of thinking, and help us both remain…interested. I wouldn’t give our differences up for the world.”

The Only Black Uke

Grandchildren were no where near Hargitt's radar. In his personal opinion she should have been more concerned with her currently occupied womb rather than thinking about which one his seed would settle into.

It wasn't hard to keep himself from feeling "passionate", though if one were to really look at him they might read the reaction towards Jak's fingers on his hip as "Gods above, pick me up and take me away." He smiled, subtly but a marginal difference from his usual calm, stoic exterior. Hargitt reached out to brush strands of golden hair away from Jak's face, and slipped them behind his pointed ear.

Anora moved forward into the space, and sat down atop a smaller boulder. It wasn't as if Hargitt hadn't thought of her swollen ankles, or the general complaints she'd been so vocal about this pregnancy; but, well, he hadn't thought of them at all. It was hard to think of anything that wasn't Jak with the little goldenrod standing so close to him.

"I am sorry about your sister. She's a sweet girl."
Hargitt saw genuine concern flare up on her face, which was good. It reminded him that his mother wasn't just a strumpet who jumped on anything with a shaft between it's legs. She was a mother who showed love and affection to her children, so any ailing child caused her pain.

She seemed to take it all into consideration. Granted, it wasn't as if anything she said would stop him; if Hargitt wanted to go, he would simply go. "Hargitt, is this what you really want? You've never talked about traveling before and this relationship..."

"Mother, you've never asked."
There was a pregnant pause (pardon any puns) before Hargitt spoke again. His voice had started out low, but it started to grow and his hold on Jak tightened. "You never asked about my preference before pairing me with Flyssa, nor did you ask about whether or not I liked her at all. I love Jakkoa, he loves me and I intend to make a life with him after finding a cure for his sister."

"...Very well." Hargitt blinked, as if confused that she had listened to him for once in his life. "I suppose since I already have nine sons a tenth can't hurt."

Promising.

Incredibly promising, even.

Enough so that it took Jak for surprise for a moment when Hargitt’s fingers — hesitant and stiff only minutes ago — were gentle on his face, brushing at his hair. The skim of calloused fingertips over the upper rise of his ears, however, sent a far more familiar trickle of heat through him, down his neck and to his—

He promptly set the feeling aside, for the moment, to be examined and appreciated in more depth at a more appropriate occasion. For the time being, he smiled, relaxing and letting relief show in his expression. Since he was relieved, it was easiest of all, and when he thanked Anora for understanding and for her blessings, that too, was sincere—in some sense of the word, at least. It wasn’t, of course, the entire hurdle. After speaking with her, there came the later details, breaking the information to those who needed to know and continuing to keep up their act when it mattered.

But, with likely the greatest potential skeptic out of the way so far as Jakkoa knew, and their initial rocky planning stage over with — or at least well underway — things felt smoother. Whether or not Hargitt was comfortable, Jakkoa didn’t concern himself with. The man played his role when needed and with as much grace as he could have hoped for, keeping it convincing, and that was all that was necessary to achieve both of their ends.

It all, so far as Jakkoa was concerned, unfolded magnificently.
