"Same sort of weird stuff-- And different too." There were some things that just weren't safe to talk about over the phone or through e-mail when one could never be certain what kind of communications were being monitored. That was something she didn't want to say aloud, not wanting Jocelyn to worry too much when she'd only just arrived back in town. "You were enjoying yourself overseas at least, weren't you? I mean, I hope you weren't worrying about us too much over here." She flashed the other young woman a grin.

"I was, am. It's good to be back with my Pa and school has been fun. Plus running a business." She laughed softly. "That's been a trip but really fun and really unexpected." She enjoyed it though far more than she'd thought she would. "I did at least know you were safe since we were still talking." She nudged Regina gently. "This the place we're eating?" They'd paused in front of a restaurant so she figured this was the place.

"Yes! Eating. This is the place i had in mind for dinner-- Eating here, at least. It's new, so I don't think it's somewhere you've been before, but the food is good." She nodded, face flushing slightly over how incredibly awkward she was being before she tried to brush it off by reaching forward to open the door for her friend. "It's not fancy enough that we'd need reservations or anything, so we should be able to just get a table."

She laughed softly as they headed inside, blinking a bit at the much darker interior. "You don't have to be nervous Regi. It's not like we haevn't been talking this whole time." Not that she wasn't a bit nervous but it was going away with how much like she'd remember Regina was. She asked for a table for two once the hostess acknowledged them and the woman motioned for them to follow her.

She eased up a bit once they were settled in at their table, ordering drinks and an appetizer to share. It was a reminder of a time when things were simpler-- Not that anything had really been simple since they'd met one another. Abductions, space, dying, making it back home. Simple? Ha. It was good to have Jocelyn back, though, serving as a reminder that even if things had gotten stranger she still had something, someone, familiar to fall back on. When their food was set down on the table in front of them she glanced up, flashing her friend a smile. "It's really good to have you back in Destiny City again, Joce."

"It's nice to be back. I didn't think I missed it that much but ..." She chewed on her lip for a moment. "Seeing the city again, actually getting to see you again. Even after all the, well not so great memories, this place has it was home." Not all of the memories had been good and some would never be good no matter how long it had been but she couldn't say that the city hadn't grown on her. Even making a new home with her father hadn't been enough to completely get rid of her feelings for everyone in DC.

"It is home." She nodded in agreement as she settled back in her seat. She hadn't had anywhere to go to get away from it all so she'd lost herself in other ways. Unable to escape physically, she'd at least been able to get away mentally by falling into video games. "I'm... Going to not think about you leaving again when you've just gotten here." She laughed softly after a moment, tugging on a strand of her hair before tucking it back behind her ear. "How's dinner?"

"At least I'll be here for a while?" She smiled. She'd taken a good chunk of time off so she could properly visit rather than just coming over for a short trip. She did have to at least see her mother and stepfather at some point because her father would tsk at her if she didn't. She couldn't be rude just because she was still mad. "Dinner's good, I forgot how greasy American food tasted." She grinned, teasing. "You don't get much of it in a farming town."

"Promise we'll go somewhere and get something lighter during the rest of your stay. They opened a new pizza place with a lot of artisan salads... Lots of new food places, actually. You'd think they were trying to distract us from something." A soft smirk touched her lips as she shook her head. "Museums, new exhibits at the science center... But oh, if a carnival comes into town? I'd recommend not going."

"Carnivals are creepy enough without knowing what sort of weird nonsense goes on around here. Wouldn't tempt it." She didn't like them on a good day and knowing DC it would be like askiing for trouble. "Museums and the science center sound fun though. And some artisan pizza." That was one thing she did miss, proper greasy pizza from the little shops in town. She hadn't been able to get the same stuff in France. "Did you make any plans for stuff we should do while I"m here? Or did I ask that already?"

"There were some attacks at the last one to come through town. Really crazy stuff." As if there was really anything different other then 'really crazy stuff' in DC. Not the DC that she knew-- Not anymore, at least. "I made a few plans, picked up some brochures for some other things. I didn't want to take up all of your time and not let you pick things that you wanted to do, though. Thought it'd be easier to go through things after a good night's sleep and good breakfast in the morning."

"The only thing I really have to do is visit my mother at some point. Other than that I don't know what I have or haven't done around town." When you lived somewhere you tended to forget what there was to do and what you had or hadn't done. "You didn't tell me about that. Thought you were going to keep me updated on all of the weirdness." She pouted slightly, nudging Regi's leg under the table with her foot.

"I didn't? Really? I could've sworn I'd mentioned that..." Her brow furrowed slightly. "If I didn't it wasn't intentional. The n-- Terrorists attacked at the carnival, or were using the carnival as a base to lure people in. I'm not really sure which. It was a mess, though. Made it out alright!" She smiled brightly as though sitting right there alongside the other woman was proof enough of that.

"Pretty sure I'd have remembered it if you mentioned the weirdo's were using a carnival. Probably would have given me nightmares." She was okay with the ones in Europe, they were at least fun, but American Carnivals tended to have too many clowns. "That bit I don't miss about the city. You only hear about it on the news sometimes elsewhere. Not as nice knowing my friends are here but it's nice not being scared i'm going to get whisked off to outer space randomly."

"There is one thing about the whole whisked off to outer space randomly bit, though... If it hadn't happened I might never have met you." Regina flashed her friend a smile. The conversation about oddities ended there as the waiter arrived to take their order, leaving them to chat back and forth about other, simpler things throughout their meal. It was good to have Jocelin back in town-- Good to have a friend. No matter what happened next, she was going to make sure that they made the most out of her visit. [Fin]
