Ami was growing visibly more uncomfortable the more people joined. Certainly at her small, shitty hotel she'd had to interact with people and when she went grocery shopping or supply hunting she'd interact with people, but it wasn't to this degree of leadership or paranoia. She'd not only have to look after more than 5 people, but also some people that were familiar.
She finally folded her hands together, toes facing out. Her monotonous voice was a drone with something very tired and old sounding in it. It had not been an easy 6 months.
"Very well. You will see to your duties without me holding your hands and if you can prove yourselves valuable I will note this to the Doctor." Her tone implied that she did not think any of them would prove themselves. "Do not touch anything you do not have immediate need to touch as dictated by your duties. Do not leave the cavern. If you find something you're not sure about, do not <********> touch it and call me over." She eyed one of the trainees accusingly for no reason other than she looked suspicious. "This is not a field trip. If you die, I don't care."
She took a deep breath, the kind that had to be let out through the nose. "If you have any questions I will take them now." And from the sounds of it, they wouldn't get many.

Harvard even raised his hand like a good little student before talking. "So - is that all?" Considering what she just laid laid out was what he was trying to do earlier, Harvard had expected a little more out of her briefing. As it was, her words could be summed up in 'don't ask me questions, don't touch weird s**t, follow your brief'. So, what was the point? He'd expected maybe assigned pairs or something that actually required them to listen, not a lot of pointless reiteration.
It was always great to have a supervisor who didn't care if they died. He expelled a soft breath. Now if she was actually as hands off as she sounded, it'd be great. Harvard recognized the cave as dangerous - who wouldn't? - but he was up to level Done with pointless words when he could've already gotten things done.

Floor 1 - north wingThere was a very slow, baffled blink from the flowerchild as the girl in charge(Amy) finished with the short briefing. A briefing that Gretchen found to supply more questions, than answers. Maybe she'd missed something somewhere? Some file that had been passed around before she'd arrived? Maybe even a file attachment on the original summons that had brought her here? With a small hum she pulled her phone to check on the latter, only to slip it away a moment later, still frowning. Glancing around, her gaze came to rest on a gal to her right, and she took a small step closer, leaning in and lowering her voice so as not to be overheard. "Sorry to bother, but do you know what is we're supposed'ta be doing here?" Specifically. She'd gotten the gist of it.

"Don't say things like that," she scolded Evan gently as she bumped her head against his side, welcoming his presence despite her words. "One've my new friends is here, I want him alive please."
Stormy grew antsy again as Ami spoke to them, knowing that the woman already wasn't known for her pleasant attitude even before whatever had happened that had drained her so much. And with the group swelling to several more...
"We're here to clear up and organize," she said hesitantly. "Right? Were there any traps or something like them you saw? What about those, um..." She glanced at the walking stone constructs. "Golems? We just avoid them, or do we take them out?"

"If you would have read your dossier you would know the golems are harmless and in fact impervious to damage," she said to Stormy, gracing the girl with an answer only because of their previous affiliation. "There are plenty of traps." And she said nothing of how to disarm them or how to notice them because quite frankly they were erratic and she didn't know. That's why extra trainees were hired on.
She then turned to Harvard and said, "Put your hand down it is unnecessary. I apologize for your impatience but as you can see most hunters require repetition to the point of redundancy." She gestured to Gretchen to silently say for example. She then took a small breath, and then said, "Although you may think that your eagerness or your inevitably dull skillset makes you more equipped than others, you are still in fact a trainee who has been contracted for manual labor. I seek competence, not eagerness. That is all."

Floor 1 - North Wing "Everyone learns differently," he said mildly, in response to her 'redundant' comment. The parallel between both of their comments about necessity was amusing, but hardly here nor there. Harvard knew his skill set was not something that could come in handy here. There were, after all, not her to translate, but to categorize. However, Ami seemed to think everyone around her was impossibly stupid - he wondered if she was lonely up there on her self-made pedestal. Probably bored, too. It rubbed him the wrong way how she was supposed to be supervising them and had shown no interest in actually doing so. She had hindered those who wanted to move on and mocked those who'd stayed, seeking further guidance. You can't be a b***h in every way, Harvard thought, even if Ami was certainly trying. "If repetition is needed, then how about telling everyone exactly - step by step - what you are wanting us to do? Repetition breeds competence. After all, we are at your beck and command here." Harvard was pretty certain it was in the dossier, although he didn't possess an eidetic memory. The poor girl Ami had snapped at looked very much like she should be doing something else than burying herself nose-deep in books, but Harvard tried not to judge by appearances. Not in a 'job' capacity, at least. He easily handed out labels and snap judgments personally though.

Lex had already been irate by the circumstances he'd gone and thrust himself into - some stupid, ill advised misconception of duty and closure guided his course. But, seeing Amalie as she was now, the glass came back together. It was all clear to him, at that moment.
"So this is who you really are, when all's been stripped away." Lex nearly smirked, smug voice carrying over the rest of the rabbling and murmurs. "At the end of the day, all you are is an icy void stuffed into an ill-fitting human shell." It was no wonder being with her sent Lex on a downward spiral. Always the nagging, always with the disappointment, the lack of any actual emotion from either side. At least he had tried, dammit. God, had he tried. "And you wanted to help inform and mentor new trainees. Why? So we could end up with more toxicity in the ranks - no thank you."
He'd done an about-face at that point, walking out of the library and Amalie's life for the final time, triumphant in his gate. "I'm glad I made the right choice. I suggest you all do the same."
