Saran gave the smallest nod of her head. This place was likely far away from their current location. Who knew how long it would take them to get there or whether they would ever be back. The Firekin had proven themselves the stronger and, in a way, she could not be too unhappy about that. They had freed her from her unhappy marriage and gifted her a life she could not have imagined.

Perhaps Zizima might even claim the role of warlord for himself.

Who knew.

"Then this will be new for all of us. Your first journey as part of the horde. This is the longest we have stayed still for some time. I think it will do us all good to get moving again.

Ahead of them a few roars sounded and, caught on the wind, the low rumble of a marching song. They were officially heading out.

"Shall the three of us walk together?" she inquired, leaning gently against Zizima.

---

Kurruvar gave a lop-sided grin towards Hiana, her tail waving merrily behind her. Los had deemed it a good plan and he was their captain. Who knew better than he? None, as far as she was concerned.

"The front!" She echoed, glancing sideways at Hiana. "You might catch the smarts. Then all will be good for us."

Her ears perked up at the sound of the marching song, "listen! Listen! They're moving out. Let's not be slow. You come?"

---

Gren, startling at the sound of Gael's voice, paused to glance over at him. Initially wary, she slowly allowed a smile to creep across her face. This was her friend. Walking with him would be far better than treading the path alone.

"You may walk with me," she returned, angling her body so that she could come up beside him and match his stride.

"You know the words to this song?"

Saran turned as she heard the chanting of the traveling song, her ears flicking in amusement. She'd never heard this one before...probably because since she'd been alive the Nergui had been in one place.

"As long as you two don't get all lovey and forget I'm here," she said with a little eyeroll and a smirk. It was strange to see her mother so affectionate with someone other than her and her siblings, but she knew Zizima was worthy of the older female and was merely teasing. "Perhaps we'll find someone along the way that I can stare fondly at, too."

---

Los gave a bark as he heard the lion's voices rise up above the din. It was time to move out.

"To the front!" he said to the group of hyenas gathered and took off at a steady jog to pass the lions that had already hit the road. They would lead the pride to glory and their new home, of that he was sure.

---

Krieg gave a little huff but followed after her father, trotting a bit slower to let the other hyenas pass. She would be at the front with them, but would be taking up the rear of the group of hyenas, as she had thought earlier. She didn't bother to look over her shoulder to bid her home since she was born farewell. To her, it wasn't any place that she had an emotional attachment to.

---

As Gren smiled at him and offered to walk with her, Gael flicked his tail and trotted up to move beside her. He shook his head at the question, falling into step with the large lioness easily.

"The last time we changed our homelands I was a small cub. I remember the tune, but the words were lost to me. I'll learn them now, though. I'm sure this place isn't anywhere close by."

Keto made a noise somewhere between a giggle and full blown laughter as Los shouted for them to move to the front. Excellent, this was excellent. Maybe now the lions would not give them such a hard time, since it was their leader who had made the final call...

He dutifully followed behind the Nohoi Leader's footsteps, his eyes glancing between each of the hyenas marching with them.

This felt good. So many of his own kind being here, leading. "The front!" He echoed his leader's words with delight.

Zizima lowered his head in a show of affection towards his mate as she nuzzled into his mane. He was never the most affection lion, but being amongst the Horde like this, it was good for everyone to be made aware of his relationship with Sarangerel.

When her daughter mentioned them being lovey-dovey though, he cleared his throat and lifted his head once more. He knew she was just teasing, but it did remind him of the fact that Saran and the others were not his children, and he didn't exactly wish to rub his relationship with their mother in their faces now that their father was gone. As long as they knew that he would do a much better job of taking care of her than their father did, that's all that should matter to them and to him in regards to them.

Ovu grinned at the female after her somewhat sassy response. "A bit of both." He figured that she wasn't the type of lioness who necessarily responded to flattery, at least not in the traditional sense of the word. "I couldn't help but notice your...'presence' within the Horde. Lions and hyenas alike seem to be avoiding you, not unlike myself." He chuckled somewhat sinisterly. "They are right to do so, at least in regards to myself. The question is, why do they avoid you?"

If this particular female was to be of use to him, he needed to find out all he could about her. At the same time though, he didn't want to reveal his true intentions until he was absolutely sure that he could trust her. So for now, he would have to wait and see how she responded to his curiosity.

Hiana rolled his eyes as some of the hyena group trotted on ahead. Brainless, brutish sheep, the lot of them. It left a sour taste in his mouth to even be associated with them. Still, not all of his species were a loss. He noticed a female had chosen to hang back, just as he had done. He raised a brow in her direction. She bore quite the family resemblance to one of the larger males who had gone running off. Interesting.

"I'm glad at least one other hyena has the sense to stay with the group and wait for an order from someone of actual import." He grinned in her direction, although it was a more sarcastic smirk than a genuine smile.

If a lioness could have blushed, Sarangerel likely would have at her daughter's remark. Still, it was hard to keep her affection at bay, even when they were in so public a place.

"I could never forget that you are here, daughter dearest." The idea of her daughter finding an appropriate male seemed to thrill her. Only the best for her darling daughter. Someone big and strong and scarred. With them leaving this somewhat desolate land behind, the possibilities of this certainly increased. "I shall keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I see anyone worthy of your time and attentions."

With a small trill, she turned to glance fondly, once more, at Zizima, before moving slowly off after those already moving ahead.

---

Kurruvar's heart soared with the thought of adventure, its beat matching the increasing thud of her paws on compact dirt. Soon grass would be beneath her pads. And meadows. And water. And then, eventually, the lands they were headed towards. Sand and heat and relics and perhaps even a kulukadok to maul. Either way, anything beat hanging around here.

With a yowling, yap, she lifted her head and joined in on the marching song.

---

Gren, awkwardly, offered him a wider smile. She had loved to listen to the marching songs and although the war songs were her favourite, these ones were fine, too. They set the pace and kept them going long after others might tire and pause to rest.

"Words easy. Listen. If you get lost, I will teach."

She took a look around, frowning briefly as the male, Nokhoi, stepped in closer, his proximity bordering on rudeness. If she could have read his mind at that moment she would have been embarrassed and maybe even a little afraid.

[[As of this post the Nergui are on the march. The sub-forum has now become part of the unclaimed lands and as such, you may feel free to have members interact with rogues. Some things to bear in mind:

- Nergui do not play nice with non-lions / non-hyenas
- The horde will be avoiding prides and their borders as best as they can
- feel free to recruit or pick (small) fights with outsiders

This journey will last approximately 3 months RL time. After that the pride will settle in the abandoned Tuiat'tekam lands. An announcement will be made when this happens.

Other notices:

- I would like to start filling the higher ranks. Every rank (except the Xakaav Oma and Kaar Oma) is available. Applications will be accepted through the Nergui plot thread found here in a few days time.
- And finally, you may continue to post here to conclude your RPs. ]]

She chuffed in amusement at that. Alright, so she liked a male who could take her sass. No weaklings need apply, the damned pushovers. She eyed him over, then openly turned to regard the open berth around the pair of them that had formed. "I could say something stupid like 'they're afraid of me', but I'm pretty sure you're not an idiot." She rolled a shoulder, the one nearly covered in rippling rainbow-colored scale-like markings. "Probably because they'd rather walk with friends or family, or they know I'll knock them out of my way if they get in it." She looked back at him, and flicked the braid out of her face once more—it'd resettled in her eyes with the motion of her head turning. A rainbow flicker went with it, a long, multi-colored feather bound tightly in the strands.

"It's like a game of chicken, right? The one who backs off first loses. And by now enough of them know that I'd rather crack my skull on theirs than back off." A snort. "Or maybe they just think I'm ugly, huh? A bit too bright, that's usually the thing." Her grin turned sharper, a bit vicious almost. "Or, just maybe, they feel nervous around a lioness who brought down a god. You know, I think that's probably it." Her chest puffed unconsciously with pride. She was not at all a difficult creature to read. No guile, no deception, all brash confidence.
