Eresin thought about the question. "The marketplace in Oba... She came to buy some trinkets. Peco was the one who recognized her... Then a few days later she came to my parents' shop, injured and barely able to stand..." Eresin ducked under a branch and continued to walk with some distance between him and Kian. The nightfall was making it a bit harder to see, so he made sure to be extra cautious not to trip on some protruding roots.

"I used my parents supply to patch her up, and then I remembered. It was the eyes. Those beautiful multi-colored eyes you guys have. It was unmistakable, and Peco remembered her helping him when he was sick." Eresin sighed and took a deep breath. "She told me she might be travelling to Jauhar, and I was told to find my uncle in Jauhar as well, so I asked if she would take me with her..."

"Only after I decided to go with her, some men attacked me, looking for her. I wanted to protect her... So I-I had to fight them. It was then that I decided to become a mage... Since my uncle told me I had the talent, I figured it would best suit me... It would help me protect her too." He paused for a moment. "I know she hates magic because of her mother, but I'll show her how it's meant to be used. I swear it... She's trusted in me so far." Eresin inhaled deeply after that comment and continued to walk.

"Oba?" Kian quirked an eyebrow. Out of all the countries to be in...why would Talisia ever venture into Oba? There truly were some questions he had for his twin then. It seemed that she truly was living a free life then. How else would she have been so bold to go to Oba? At the comment about attackers, Kian's body stiffened. Someone had dared to lay a hand on his twin? "She's fine then, correct?" He questioned, a sudden static in the air almost as if a storm was brewing. Kian had to reason with himself. Obviously she was fine else she wouldn't have come all this way with Eresin.

To try and ease the tension in the air, Kian chuckled. "Our beautiful eyes?" The hybrid glanced back towards Eresin with a teasing grin, "Do they just engulf you? I never knew that you found them so lovely before. You know back in Zena they were claimed to be a curse that marked us for our mixed heritage. The ice soul that belonged to my sister is connected to me through my golden eye while my shifter spirit is connected to her through the silver." That was the best way that the servants and others who saw them could explain it. How else could two twins look so close to their pure lineage save for those eyes and a few other misplaced traits?

"So you have fought then." He hoped that Eresin had deterred those men away. It would be asking too much of the novice to actually kill someone...the thought of what Kian would have done in his place made the male clench his hands. Their blood would have decorated the marketplace...

"How it's meant to be used?" Kian actually laughed, a bitter sound. "Pray tell me, what's the heroic take on our magic lives? Just so you know it's not all happy endings. There's more than just having power to fight, there's also the decisions you'll have to make. And the consequences that may result from those you make. Sometimes for the best or the worst..."

DO YOU WANNA BUILD A SNOWMAN???!!!

Eresin stopped walking and stared at the back of Kian's head as if his eyes could burn a hole straight through. How could he be so cruel? Of course you would have to make decisions in battle, but it isn't about being heroic. In actuality, it's the decisions you make in battle, yes defending yourself and others, but also showing restraint and self control...

"Heroic?" Eresin spat. There was a hint of agitation in his voice. "It isn't about being a hero. Sure, it can lead to that, but that's not at all what magic is about. Just like with anyhting else you need self control. Those who don't end up like your mother using magic to torture people..." He hoped that struck a chord in Kian. Eresin was getting tired of the cynicism and sarcasm, but that was also probably because of the lack of sleep. Normally, he'd be much more tolerant, but not lately. "Show no restraint and your power goes wild, and so too do you. Nerio should have told you that first thing before even starting to help you practice magic. Don't ever forget that."

"Now if you don't mind, I'd like to get to the camp. Now." That was it. Eresin was too riled up to even want to speak anymore. The ribbing had actually gotten to him. He only wondered if there was a limit to Kian's sarcasm. Maybe he can take a hint.

No...just no. >>

"Oh?" Kian raised an eyebrow at the sudden anger directed at him. He usually was amused at seeing how other's reacted to him pressing their buttons, but in this case he had just honestly admitted his own feelings. The way Eresin talked seemed too noble for magic. It was a gritty power that often caused more trouble than it was worth...at least for those who wished to always do the 'right' thing with it. He had given up on that long ago.

Yet, his expression shifted dangerously at the mention of his mother. "You know nothing about what she did." He commented sharply, "Even if Tally told you something it was a bare hint at the true horrors of that woman." She could twist a soul, turn someone so innocent and pure into something completely different. If she even had her hands on Eresin for a mere day...the thought sent a shard into his chest. The boy was so naive!

"For a trickle of water to be controlled is one thing, but a flood can crash many dams." Retorted Kian sharply, "You speak so nobly and act as if it's a simple thing to do, but you truly have a lot to learn." He turned away and started to stride through the trees, "But perhaps you can teach me then. I would love to see how you control yourself, noble knight."

They were quickly approaching the camp and would be there soon, "When we reach these band of trees I will stay, but in the morning we shall meet by our original place again and I want to see what you can do. Afterwards I'll be leaving for a bit on errands and I would prefer for Talisia to not realize who 'Kian' is. When the time comes....I'll show myself." If that time ever came. After he fought it out with Eresin to test the boy for Nerio's sake then Kian would be taking his belongings and getting out of Jauhar.

That was the best choice right?

Let the noble one stay here and train while he could take his darkness far away before it hurt any of those he actually cared about.

Eresin scoffed. "That's exactly my point. She did horrible things to people no one deserves. My point in bringing up youre mother was as a comparison as to how magic is and shouldn't be used. That, my dear Kian, is what I'm out to prove to Talisia. It's not about being a hero."

A duel? What for? It all seemed so childish, but Eresin was so frustrated, he wasn't even thinking when he replied, "Fine!"

As they arrived at the camp, Eresin found his uncle's tent and started to make his way towards it. A fight he wants, and a fight he shall have...
