Draven listened while he walker, not really one for speaking much. If she was heading towards Matori, he might as well tag along right? A little play time in the cooler climates might be just what Nile needed after traveling so long in the heat of the Oban desert. Even with stops and letting the small Keldari have some water. "You mind if I tag along? I wouldn't mind seeing Matori, Father never really went in that direction. Always staying to the traditional routes." He frowned slightly, but shrugged it off.
Glancing at Regale, the Janarim was more intent on the surroundings and not what the younger was doing. His head raised once and a while sniffing at the dry air before he snorted and continued on with the group. Minding to keep his distance from the other so's not to cause anymore trouble.
"Yael, huh? That's a far off place, not a quick trip from what I hear. What was the place like? If you don't mind my asking." He wondered giving a glance towards Dem again, who was of course taller then he was. "Janarim seem to have their own little ways. I don't think Regale really got a chance to be as spirited as your Ascale. Regale seems more uptight and likes his personal space now and then. I am sure Ascale will calm when he gets older and learns his manners." That was an idea at least, how true it would be was up to them of course.

She hadn't been expecting the boy to ask if he could tag along so when he did she was taken back a bit by the question. V'demhe wasn't against the idea, however, so she smiled at him and gave a nod of her head before voicing her answer. "Sure, I don't see why not. You're welcome to stay with my family and me when we get there." Dem figured she would offer Draven a place to stay while he was in Matori since he was young and would need it. Since being scolded had made the brown and silver Janarim pout, his person had her hand on his neck to give him comfort. Dem knew he was young and full of energy but he needed to learn when it was appropriate to be a goof. "That's true but for now I would say he's not fit for a child to have." The words made Ascale lower his head and V'demhe laughed at him. With a pat to his large shoulder she tried to sooth him. "You'll do fine in the future, Ascale." Turning her attention back to her newly gained traveling companion she gave a thoughtful look. "A large swamp." Was what came out of her mouth at first but her feelers gave a small wilt and she shook her head. "No, that's not quite.. Well, mostly. I suppose to me it seems no different than the rest of Tendaji, since most things there are dangerous." Which was true. There were a lot of poisonous things in that area. As well as rather large. "Terrain wise, it's a bit mucky, still lots of trees, and most everything is poison." Dem was no good at describing a world to someone who had never seen it for themselves.

Draven was a little surprised, though he did his best to hide it, he hadn't expected to be offered a place to stay. Really he was looking to camping out somewhere, probably even departing each other's company when they reached the border. But this was something new to him, he was a stranger after all and didn't think things would extend that far, this fast.
"You don't really have to do that, Regale and I are kinda used to sleeping out under the stars and stuff like that. Not much around likes to tangle with a Janarim." He said looking towards Regale as he walked at Draven's side, a golden eye still watching Ascale, eying the youth. "But a bed wouldn't be all that bad either, camping was always something I did with my father and the rest of the caravan families."
Thinking back to when he was growing up, he remembered laying out a bedroll under the stars beside his father. The only real time they were in the wagon or under a canvas was when it was storming or cold. Those were some of the better times of his childhood. Looking back towards his Alk companion, he really didn't want to burden anyone with him and Regale. The Janarim ate enough to starve a small family for a month.
Things changed back to his question about Yael, a swamp was the first thing it was described as. Was it really? Then there was mention of lots of trees, muck and most everything was poison. His thoughts went to the young Keldari nestled in her pack, he wondered if Nile really came from this place. She seemed pretty harmless for the most part.
"Sounds like a place someone very brave could live." Draven muttered slightly. Might have to venture there at some point, but from the sounds, its a place I wouldn't want to go. Not at this time anyways." Tilting his head to one side, he continued looking forward, on the road ahead. Things were opening up to him and he was reluctant to travel those paths. At some point...

Sleeping under the stars wasn't a bad thing. Dem had done it a few times herself when it was just her and her Radaku. Still she gave the boy a smile. "A bed and proper food." A nod of her head came with her words. "Regale won't be a problem either." Clearly she would hear none of him being left on his own with no one to look after him. "It's no trouble to have you in the family." V'demhe hadn't intended her words to seem like she was basically adopting him but they came out that way. Still, the Alkidike was smiling at him the way a mother smiled at her children. The mention of Draven going to Yael at some point had her grinning then. Proud to hear him say such a thing she nodded. "When you are ready I can take you." Though now she wondered if maybe her daughters would want to go along too? Obviously not until they were a bit older but it could be quality time together.

'It's no trouble having you in the family', these words hit Draven like an off thrown stone. Tripping over his own two feet and landing himself on the ground, arms outstretched and face down. For a moment he laid there a bit stunned, he wasn't sure if it was what was said of the impact of the well traveled ground. Which ever it was, stars floated across his vision for a moment before he blinked them and dust from those deep blue eyes.
'The.. There is no need for that, really, I am still a stranger. More or less, really, but still." Draven said as he hastily picked himself off the ground, his shirt and pant fronts still covered in dust. I appreciate what you are offering, but really I don't wish to be a burden." The smile the Alkidike was giving him was a little off setting, for someone that he had just met and he was surely stuffing his own foot into his mouth for what he was saying. "I mean, I could just be acting this way to take advantage of your kindness."
Now he was just stammering, Regale feeling that Draven was getting a little uncomfortable knocked him over. Using his nose to do so before turning around and seating himself upon the Wind/Ice hybrid, successfully evacuating Draven's lungs of air. The large beast give a snort at the youth started struggling beneath him. Without the air in his lungs to speak, all Draven could do was flail around. It was true Regale wasn't using his full weight, but it was enough to make others think he was trying to flatten the poor youth. This was effective.. Most the time and the Janarim almost always got off Draven before he passed out.. Almost always...

When Draven fell she blinked but was almost instantly beside him to make sure he was alright. V'demhe worried that he might have hurt himself. Then came his words and they made her think back on her own. Then she chuckled. Had she been trying to make her family bigger without even realizing it? "If you were going to take advantage of my kindness you wouldn't warn me ahead of time." The Alkidike was about to say something else but Regale seemed to take hold of the situation. She watched the display with some amusement before she shook her head. "Alright, Regale, get off the poor boy. I think you've made your point." Dem laughed a little and patted the Janarim affectionately. "C'mon son, lets get home." V'demhe intentionally spoke those words to Draven.

Regale looked at the Alkidike as she patted him, giving a little bit of a growl before lifting his bulk off the still flailing youth. Heaving large breaths of air into his lungs, Draven laid still on the ground for a moment before turning his head to glare at the Janarim. Why was it that the thing knew him well? They hadn't been together that long and already he knew Draven almost like a book. Groaning, his back feeling like someone tried breaking it he sat up.
"That was not funny Regale." Draven said between gasps, hoping this wouldn't last long. You will be regretting that later." A hollowed threat, as he could never harm his companion after all. Having bartered him out of a cage of course.
Turning his attention back towards his travel companion, the word 'son' made his mind tumble once again. What was this woman saying? He had a father, sure he was traveling in another direction. But what was all this about? Shaking his head a little, he would leave it for now. Having hopefully caught his breath enough to stand again, he did so. Wobbling a moment, he used Regale to lean on a little to regain himself.
"Lets keep walking before this wise beast think he can sit on me again." Draven wheezed as he started walking again, though a bit wobbly before righting himself out. "But you calling me son.. It feels a little... Awkward, I had... Once..."

V'demhe laughed at Regale. "Oh hush you. I'm not going to hurt you or Draven." Moving over to her own Janarim she waited until the boy was on his feet and ready to walk before she turned. Dem gave a nod of her head and started on her way only turning to look over her shoulder when the hybrid spoke again. "Hm? You had what once?" She had an inkling that he meant he'd had a mother once. Though how well that went she wasn't sure. Still she looked forward again. "Don't worry, Draven. I'll take care of you like you are my own, possibly even love you like a son if you stay with us for a while." There was no point in lying. The woman had become rather motherly since her daughters had been born. "You need not return the affection if you don't want to. It is just how I am now that I have children." It wasn't like she would force him to call her mother or anything.

Heras Box ((12th post. xD Sorry for making you wait)) Shaking his head a bit, Draven tried clearing it. His lungs still burned from being sat on by Regale, then there was the questions from his new companion. The Alkidike was a strange one in her own ways, calling him 'son' and everything. It was a little off putting, even now. one step before the other, this was something he told himself as he kept walking beside the much taller female. "Nevermind." was his only answer to her question of what he had at one time. He wasn't overly sure of what he had been talking about. "So you have kids, girls I think you said before." He tilted his head to one side a little trying to remember what had been said earlier. "Who watches them when you leave on your travels?" Sure not the most subtle of questions, but he did wonder. Then again he didn't think he would ever have kids of his own. The whole thought was making him feel more out of place then he imagined. He did his best to hide it, hoping that Dem wouldn't notice...

She glanced his way as he said never mind but didn't press any farther. V'demhe figured that if he wanted to talk about it he would. Then he asked her a question in return and she smiled at him. "Yes, two daughters." Dem loved her little waterbugs. Though she felt her antennae give a twitch when Draven asked her who watched them when she was away. "Their father does." Virain had a schedule for his training and she worked around that. The alkidike would only go out when she was sure that her mate would be home that way their little girls were never alone. Dem noticed that he seemed a bit out of place and it made her wonder a little. "Is something the matter?"
