"A version of me. What do you mean by that?" Autumn asked, her voice a harsh and strangled whisper. It wasn't quite a dead-teenager or disembodied-foot freakout, but it was kind of close. At the very least, this time, Autumn was prepared, and had sat down to prevent anything worse from happening to her. Like falling, and bleeding all over this nice guy and his nice books.
"...It ranks pretty high up there. Singing to animals is weird, but this is some time-travel bullshit I wasn't quite ready for," she admitted, offering him a strained smile in response to his comfort.
"Why is all of this happening?"

Algie glanced around a moment, just a sweep of the eyes, but there was no one within earshot. He took Autumn's hand gently and led her to some nearby seating, his touch still emanating calm. He urged her to sit, and sat himself, scooting the chair closer so he could talk to the woman in a low voice, "Because, I believe, it's meant to." Algie sighed because he knew it sounded farfetched, "I went back to speak to Heliodora."

At the touch of Algie's hand, Autumn found her breathing steadying out and her shakiness fading. She followed after him mutely, not really caring to fill the silence with smalltalk. Not when she had this helljournal bearing so heavily on her soul right now. When they sat down, and Algie explained he'd been back to Heliodora, Autumn blinked.
"...It's meant to? Did she tell you that?" She didn't really get this thousands of years old bullshit, but with the journal, it was starting to seem more and more real. More like something she actually had to face.

"She told me that she had chosen to be there and that they all had," He released her hand a moment a pushed his glasses up, "And that every trio of them would.. It was their role to play and they would always fill it." Which implied of course that it happened before and it would again. "Which means you are meant to have your cat. Like a sort of destiny.."

"So what's our role, then? Are we gonna wind up..." Footless? Trapped? Killed by this magical s**t? So many things that could fill in that sentence, and none of them which Autumn wanted to say. So far, she didn't like much of the prospect of what lied in store concerning this magical business. Were they all going to age before their time, become relics of another world?
"...This journal, then. Should I be reading it? Aren't we supposed to like, not know about the future?" Rosalinde wrapped herself around Autumn's feet, brushing up against the girl in sympathy. Destiny, huh. It was exciting and terrifying, all at once.

"Heliodora and the others-" Alg sighed, not wanting to scare her more than she already was, tried to find the right words, "are trying to protect everyone. Keeping something bad caged." He knew he'd mentioned it when they were all in Heliodora's grove, that he'd been told other ashdown was a cage. Algie hated the sound of it and the implication of something so terrible that magic and whole other dimensions could barely keep it at bay. "She thinks maybe something is different this time around. I don't really think we can fight all of this so-" Clearly the difference was them and this old fuddy duddy seemed to have, in his recent experiences, somewhat embraced the concepts. "If we found it.. I think it's meant for you. To do better."

Something bad caged... so then it was, in fact, as foreboding as she'd initially expected. Outside of the Demense and Pax and Heliodora, there was a world that wanted to get them. It wasn't Harry Potter, it was back to a scary movie.
"If it's meant for me to help... and I'm meant to change something. We're meant to change something, I guess..." Autumn glanced up, and looked Algie in the eye.
"What are we going to do?"

Alg exhaled audibly from his nose and settled back in his chair a bit, "I don't rightly know. I suppose we just have to wait and see.. But I think everyone needs to be careful." The kitten in his arm had completely turned over at this point and was on her back with belly bared in the crook of his arm. She got scratches. "Possibly look out for one another." Autumn seemed a nice enough person, even with being a bit nosey into his business (he'd discovered everyone wanted into his business for some reason). She also seemed much more outgoing and could possibly do better with some of the others- if they all were getting mixed up in this with powers and whatnot. Perhaps she could network better than himself or Jeremiah.

"I'm doing my best to keep in contact. With the people I've been able to find, anyway." She hadn't located everyone from their first foray into the Otherworld, but then again, she hadn't spoken with all of them. Considering Autumn didn't have their names, unless they happened upon each other, she wouldn't have any idea of where to start.
Rubbing her temples and accepting a bump of fondness from Rosalinde, Autumn stood up. Her legs were less shaky and her stomach less inclined to jump out of her throat. That, and she'd accomplished both of her goals: Drop off the cat, pick up a book. It was a terrifying book, but it was a book on Othercats nonetheless.
"Thanks for your time, Algie. I'm gonna get out of your hair, and let you two get acquainted. If anything comes up, I'm not hard to find." She offered her hand out to shake, and when it was done, collected the book and the basket. With both in tow and Rosalinde on her perch around her shoulders, Autumn took her leave.
She had a lot of thinking to do about this journal.iloveyoudie I figured we were hitting a good stopping point for this one? So they can meet up again later
