He listened intently as she explained about her glory. It really didn't sound all that bad. Kind of similar to what he already did on the daily. Except with more purpose. The more time he spent with this female the more he came to admire her. There was a strong backbone under her pretty coat which he had suspected to begin with. It was obvious that she truly did have a passion for wandering. He found himself beginning to entertain the idea of meeting her glory and seeing what life with them was like. It would also be an excuse to stay closer to her. The more he learned about her the more he wanted to know. There were other wanderers he had befriended over the years of course but she stood out for some reason.
When she finished it took him a moment to realize that she had asked hm a question. "Oh. Oh yes the mountains." He responded hastily. "I have been to the mountains and I have in fact run into the defenders. They were a nice lot but very focused on their jobs." He looked at the sun and then stood up. He shook the sand out of his coat with a touch of irritation and shook his wings out as well. " If it wouldn't be too much of a bother we should probably start moving now. We have to catch the tide just right."

There was something about the tone of his voice that held her attention, and kept her somewhat spellbound. She couldn't quite point to any one thing, but she knew it was there all the same. She watched as he rose to his feet, shaking the now dry sand from his wings, and was caught off guard by their beauty. She had seen a number of males, and females with wings. After all, there were a few in her own glory, and they were invaluable when it came to getting in and out of hard to reach places. His however were a color she had never seen before, and she was having trouble at the moment, keeping herself from staring at them. She almost missed the fact that he had spoken, and she had to try hard to grasp what it was he had said. "Catch the tide? Are we getting wet again? Just when we had dried out. Well, I will trust in your judgement on this matter. Lead on Prim." She stood up herself and flicked her tail across her back to dust off any residual sand, and then prepared to follow his lead.

Finally he gave up on himself and watched her openly. It was like watching tiny crystals fall from her coat as she brushed off the sand. He gave her a small smile before striding off down the beach at a leisurely but ground eating pace. "No worries. Well only be wet up to about the knees. Unless you plan on leaving before the next low tide. At which point it would be a full swim. The place were headed is a little more secluded but there is plenty to eat and a nice little spring if we get thirsty. I suppose you could call it the closest thing to a home I have. Where I go when I want to spend some time alone." He slowed a bit to eye the edge of the trees. " Ah, there. If we go through here it's a bit longer but the timing will be right and there a a few pretty places along the way." He cut across the sand to head for the little path he had spotted leading into the trees. He gave her a guilty but somewhat smug smile. "Hope you don't mind that we take the scenic route."

"Oh, I don't mind getting wet again," she said as she followed along beside him. At the mention of food, she felt her stomach roll. "I wouldn't mind a bite to eat. I haven't had anything since I left the glory this morning, and I love cool, spring water." So he was taking her to his home. That was an interesting ploy, she thought to herself. Could this single, handsome stallion have plans with her other than watching stars shoot across the night sky? She had yet to allow herself a tryst with any stallion, and had always thought it would be with one of her own glory. However, she could see herself with Prim in that way. She saw the break in the trees that he was directing them to and followed. "I love looking at beautiful scenery Prim. You lead and I will follow close behind." Of course, from her vantage point, she could evaluate all of his attributes without him noticing.

As they moved into the cool shade of the trees he looked back over his shoulder at her. "I know a place where we could pause along the way if you need a snack. Pretty decent water there too." He continued to gaze at her watching the leaf dappled shadow and light play across her back. So entranced was he that momentarily he forgot to watch where he put his feet. He tripped over a root and barely managed to catch himself from falling to his knees by spreading his wings in a haphazard way and doing a bunch of little baby flaps. This of course amused him to no end and he couldn't stifle the deep laugh that burst out of his throat. He couldn't help but think of how silly he must look tripping over himself. Pausing he righted himself tucking his wings back to where they belonged and cleared his throat. "Um, oops. " He continued on with eyes sparkling and obviously trying not to continue laughing. "As I was saying. Just up here is a lovely little-" As he was explaining they broke into a small clearing with a stream falling about 15 feet down a rock face into a small pool on one side. The trail ran through knee high grass that was dotted with exotic purple flowers. Near the pool of water was a tree that looked similar to an apple tree but was taller and covered in pink and orange fruits that were just out of reach of the average Uni. "-stopping place." He reached down to bite off one of the purple flowers by the stem and turned to offer her the bloom.

She was beginning to lose herself in the beauty of her surroundings when Prim started talking, and she was pulled from her reverie. He was speaking of where they could find something to eat when suddenly he was falling forward. She feared he would break a leg, but he used his wings to right himself, and to her amazement, he began to laugh. The joyous sound of his voice brought a smile to her lips and she had all she could do to keep from laughing herself. As he resumed where he left off, they suddenly broke through the trees and there they were, standing in a glade. She stared at the water, falling down the rock face, and once again found herself lost in the moment. She loved waterfalls more than any other occurrence in nature. She wasn't paying attention to what Prim was doing until he broke her solitude with the offer of a flower. "Prim, how beautiful!" she said. She extended her nose toward him and gently took the flower from his mouth with her own. For a brief moment, their lips met and she experienced something she had never felt before. She raised her head, looking into Prims eyes, to see if there was any indication he had felt the same thing.

Prim stood patiently waiting to be noticed with the flower offered. Not that he minded. He rather enjoyed being able to watch her as she took in her surroundings. When she did notice and exclaimed in delight he had a moment of satisfaction in his ability to please her. When she reached out to take it from him and her lips brushed his he felt a thrill of excitement spread through his body. He gazed back into her eyes as he searched them for evidence of a similar excitement. When he realized that she was doing a similar examination of himself he relaxed a bit and let a confident and obviously pleased smile slide over his features. He collected his body and projecting a cool surety, he walked past her making sure to brush his side against hers as he passed. "You said you were wanting something to eat?" He spoke over his shoulder as he waded through the grass over to the tree. While his body portrayed calmness his pulse was pounding and there was and excitement building in his stomach. He couldn't stop thoughts of what it would be like to spend a night, or perhaps many, with this mare who so thrilled him. However he didn't want to spook her away with his giddiness at her presence so ,for now, he would of behave as a mature stallion rather than as the excited the colt he currently felt like.
When he was just under the branches of the tree he rocked his weight back onto his hindquarters and leapt into the air. With the aid of a few strokes from his wings he managed to reach high enough to knock several of the fruits to the ground.

Suddenly, her whole body shivered, as he brushed past her, his side touching hers. It felt the way it did when she was caught out in a lightning storm. She couldn't explain the feeling any better than that. She was pulled from her thoughts once again as he spoke. She turned to see where he had gone and saw him raised off the ground, knocking fruit from a tree. "Yes, I did say that didn't I?" she replied. She walked over to where the fruit lay, and placing the flower on the ground, picked one up in her mouth and bit into it. The juice was very sweet, and it dripped down the sides of her mouth as she ate. Her mind was racing as she contemplated the myriad of feelings coursing through her head, not to mention those playing havoc with her body. She had never mated before and wondered if this is what it felt like to want to. Should she say something to him, or remain silent? She had no way to know what exactly he was feeling. Did he want to as well? How was she supposed to know? She finished eating the first fruit and reached down to get another one, not yet wanting to broach the subject with him.

And a very happy birthday to you Rose!

He watched her crunch away at the fruits with a masculine satisfaction. There was something about providing her with sustenance that tickled at a deep primal feeling within him. As he contemplated the night they were about to spend together watching the sky another, slightly different yet similar, feeling began to grow in him. He had mated before but it had not inspired in him the kind of fascination he was feeling for this mare. As he examined his own feelings he began to wonder about hers. Would it be to forward of him to hint at such things? He shook his head at himself. Well, there was still a bit of time left between the now and the time when they would part ways. Maybe after darkness fell. He had always felt that the soft blanket of night made things feel more intimate. Pulling himself from his nighttime fantasy he refocused on the present. He glanced at the sky and examined the way the shadows fell on the ground.
"When you're done, we should get moving now again. I don't want to rush you but the tide waits for no one. " He gazed at her while awaiting a response. Enjoying himself so much that he forgot to make himself seem more casual before she caught him in his slightly heated appraisal

How had she never discovered this particular fruit tree before? She was busy devouring her fourth juicy morsel when Prim spoke up for the first time since showing them to her. She raised her head, rolling her tongue across her lips to gather in the last bit of sweet nectar. "Oh, please forgive me. I was lost in the ambrosia fields of delight. I can't thank you enough for showing me this new fruit. My glory will be so happy to sample this new-found treasure. Please, lead on Prim. I don't want to hold us back, and make us miss arriving in time to view the heavenly show." She walked over to where he was standing and gently laid her head against his neck. "You've been such a dear to indulge me as you have. Perhaps later, you can think of something that I can do for you in return." She already had something in mind, but didn't think it her place to propose it at the moment.

Prim felt the skin on his shoulders give a small twitch of delight at the sight of her delicate feminine tongue crossing her lips. He almost missed what she had been saying about her Glory as a smile played on his own lips. He kept his gaze on hers until she touched him. At closeness he felt a rumble of satisfaction in his chest. Turning his head he buried his nose in her mane, breathing in the exotic smells that clung to her from her travels. "It is my pleasure to be able to indulge such a lovely mare. I'm sure we could discover something out if you feel the need." He turned his eyes skyward marking the hue of the sky. It was getting closer to the twilight hours. He figured that that must be what was making him relax more and more around her. He was a bit of a romantic about the intimacy that darkness could bring. After taking another inhale of the scent that was her he turned away and made to follow the path back into the trees. "It's not much further I believe. If we hurry we should barely have to get more than our knees wet."
He started off at a jog and after making sure that she would have no trouble keeping up, sped his pace.

His proximity to her was intoxicating, and she found herself wondering what it would be like to spend a night with him. She could get used to having him around, but he didn't seem the type to commit himself to just one female, or to any one herd. He was a wanderer, and though she was too, she still had obligations that she had to meet where her Glory was concerned. The sensation she felt as he buried his nose into her neck sent shivers up and down her back, and she wondered if he noticed. Then suddenly, he pulled away and was encouraging her to follow again. A part of her felt as though she would follow him for eternity as she trotted along behind him. Perhaps this would be the first and only night she had with him, but she was going to make it a night to remember.

Despite the fact that his thoughts were in the mare keeping pace with him rather than in the path before him Prim managed to navigate his way along the rest of the forest path without too many mishaps. He nearly stumbled multiple times as his mind kept wandering back to the moment of closeness they had shared. The scent of her skin. The heat of her body. He subtly corrected his path to avoid the colision course he was in with a tree.
In his experience mares like her were rare. He had met only a couple who even came close to the sort of confidence and surety with which she carried herself. It was no wonder he couldn't get her off of his mind. She almost made a stallion consider settling down. He shook the thought from his head as if it were an annoying fly. She wouldn't be interested in a vagrant like him. Still . . . A glory like hers would offer the opportunity to satisfy his wanderlust and yet provide a sense of stability to his life. He would still have the chance to be near her even if it was just as one of her emissaries. He shook his head again and flicked his tail in irritation at himself. He really should stop worrying about such things and just enjoy the time that he did have with her. No sense in wasting it.
He muttered something about gnats to keep his twitchiness from seeming like complete psychosis and slowed A bit to talk to her as they left the cover of the jungle trees. However as their hooves hit the sand and he got a clear glimpse of the incoming tide when he turned to her it was with a sense of urgency.
"We need to hurry. I apologize but I must have lost track of time a bit." He began to speed up until he was running down the beach. Suddenly taken by excitement at the feeling of running he moved so that his feet landed just in the edge of the surf tossing water and sand behind him catching the light of the setting sun like gems. He gave a coltish buck before cutting out into the water toward a small handful of tiny islands visible across the water.

She was focused on Prim, as he raced along the path. She was able to avoid most of the obstacles, because she saw him find them first. He was nimble on his feet, as he never once lost control, even when he stumbled. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to keep up with him, and it felt good. It had been some time since she had given herself a workout like she was getting today. When the day began, she was all about relaxing, but that was now a distant dream. However, the night with Prim was before her, and perhaps she could make a new dream a reality. She'd dreamed of being a mother and raising little ones of her own one day, perhaps that would become a reality this night.

They broke through the tree line at the edge of the beach and she followed close behind as he neared the waters edge. A little too close it seemed, as sand and water rose from his hind feet to spray her in the face. She shook it off and followed him into the calm surf as he headed for the sandbar ahead of them.

As his hooves broke the water he lifted his wings in an attempt to keep the splash from drenching them which would have made for a rather unpleasant night with no sun to dry them. He glanced over his shoulder at her and slowed so as to minimize the water he was throwing back at her. Of course as soon as she caught his eye with her graceful movements he momentarily forgot to pay attention to where he was putting his feet and almost went down. With a chuckle he righted himself and focused his attention back on the direction they were heading. He stifled another chuckle as he considered what a clumsy oaf he must appear to this mare with how many times he was getting distracted by her. Normally he didn't have any problems keeping his feet. Guess that went to show just how distracting she was. Or how lonely and pathetic he was, he chastised himself. Though her beauty and poise really could not be denied.

With the water belly deep he had to slow again. He really had been off in judging the position of the sun. At least in a few strides the water level began to drop as the sandbar rose to meet the first of the islands. That still didn't stop an errant wave from catching him and nearly pulling him down. Again. Once up on the beach he made sure to move down a bit from where she would emerge from the water and shook himself. Normally he would have just flown the distance across but he had decided that if she had to he would as well. He gazed around his little domain and felt himself relax. It wasn't much. Just an over sized rock covered in a pile of sand and a handful of trees that provided a bit of cover. In the trees he had pulled together some wood and fallen branches to make a bit of a windbreak. He figured that with that at their backs would be the best place to watch the sky. A slight breeze rustled in the sparse grass as he stared out across the sea at the setting sun. Not long now till dark he mused as he turned to check on her.
