"I do," Ichil replied with a nod. "Her name is Imari and she's a very pretty thing, like the inside of a smooth shell." She was fond of the little beastie for certain. Well, maybe 'little' wasn't the best word for her.

"At first she hated crowds, but she's getting much better. It's hard to steer a janarim through the people in the market, though." As much as they tried to stay out of a war-beast's way, there were simply too many Obans... and other races, thanks to this new era.

"Quhar are sweet," Ichil agreed, and then giggled. Yes, she imagined that that was about as mean as they got. She'd seen them plenty of times pulling wagons from here to there. Every so often one would refuse to move.

Ichil left her basket on the counter while she pulled out her coin purse. She had very little concern about people seeing the denominations she carried. Nearly anyone could be a thief, but she could handle herself now.

"Oh, really?" she asked. Huh! A nomadic lifestyle! "That's very interesting, actually. I may have to go to Sauti and see some of it myself." She had always lived in solid, permanent structures. It'd be interesting to meet some folks in tents who didn't just stake down forever.

“Sounds pretty,” Juno nodded, thinking about the shimmering colour he described. It seemed an oddly delicate colouration for such a fearsome sort of animal, but he supposed the janarim didn’t get to pick their colours any more than Juno did his.

“Gosh, they’re the sweetest. Makes me wish we’d had ‘em in Sauti when I was growing up. I’m sure folks have brought some up there since. They’re hardy and they can sure haul a lotta gear. Would have saved me and my folks a lot of backache back in the day!” Odd, how it seemed that long ago that he was living in Sauti, travelling from place to place with his family. It hadn’t really been that long. He’d learned some lessons since, but it was a little too soon to be reminiscing like this, wasn’t it? Still, her words made him think back fondly.

“Sure you should. The world’s yours to see. I intend to do just the same, travel around and all that. I’ll even get myself to Yael if I can.”

He nudged the basket towards her and collected her payment, counting out some change in humbler coins. He did, of course, note the bright glimmer in her purse, and felt an odd twinge in his stomach. He was no thief, of course, but it was funny to see so much money crammed in one little place. Why, if he had that much, he’d be all set to head out on his adventures!

Ichil nodded. It was true; quhar must have spread since the war. everything else seemed to have! Quhar were very useful anyway. She had seen them hauling wood to build apartments and the majority of people's belongings at times.

"I can imagine that that would be helpful, yes," she said. She'd like to see Yael herself. It seemed so foreign! She took her basket of bread then, smiled, and nodded.

"So what happens of I tip you?" Would Juno get the pay, or would it spread between the others? Was tipping even a thing that happened in bakeries?

almost done! thanks for the rp and sorry for bein' slowwws.

Juno pulled back and flushed a little, as if her comment about a tip were some indication that she had read the envious look on his face. He didn’t mean to covet money, really. His father had taught him that money was a sign of success, but not worth going after for it’s own sake. To desire money over the the skills and experiences that would earn it was putting the cart before the horse -- mistaking the fuel for the fire, and so on.

But he recovered quickly. It was more his own thoughts that had embarrassed him than her question. Tips, after all, were what kept the complex machinery of the Oban marketplace working. He’d learned that already, and had to hand out plenty of ‘tips’ to make sure the bakery’s deliveries got delivered and market stalls were allowed to keep their favourable positions.

“Not much. I’d pocket it and stuff it in the clay jar I use to hide my money. And I might be tempted to throw flour over the next customer, if that’s what counts as good service around here!”

Ichil watched the young man's reaction with an arched brow. Money was sort of a big thing around here. Maybe it was everywhere. Still, to her, money was just something she had and was well aware that others did not. Frankly, she would do just fine with less, so what was a tip for some extra-fresh bread?

"So it wouldn't be shared," Ichil murmured, and then reached into her coin purse again. She came out with weighty coins amounting to about triple what the bread itself had cost and slid them over the counte,r hiding them with her hand. "In spite of the flour storm," she said, then smirked and began her trip away backward at first. "Everyone deserves to be able to explore as they wish." With a little wave she turned around and left the shop with her basket of fresh bread, some of which was definitely going to be enjoyed while still warm.
