She couldn’t think of much to do besides roll her eyes as he completely ignored her and tried to order; what a dog. Still, she had expected this, so she just reached up to pat his cheek softly, distracting him while her tail curled around the hand trying to order and gently led him away from the poor server so the next person could order.

Glancing over at ‘her’ bowl being cooked, she tried to estimate how much time she had, quickly pointing it out to him and lightly tapping his chest. Sure, there was a sign phrase she could have used to convey the message a lot easier, but this would have to do for now. With any luck, he wouldn’t put up too much resistance, and her plan would go off mostly unhindered.

With her time slowly running out, she scribbled out another short message, turning the notepad to him as she smiled up at him again. The next challenge was to prevent him from paying for it, as that would defeat the purpose of her coming here at all, but that should be easier to manage. She was ‘ahead’ of him in line, afterall.
“The bowl is for you, silly”

She felt like she had been leading this poor dog around since she met him, though she hadn’t noticed the cute collar on him before... If only she had a leash; that would make this so much easier. ‘No boy, over here, c’mon~ Who’s a hungry dog~?’ She grinned at the thought, though like her flashing him, it was probably something else she would never try explaining to him.

Claws came in close to his face and he flinched back, but they just patted his cheek and nothing more. Bewildered, he felt her tail wrap his wrist to stop him from ordering and looked at her with frustration.

“What now?”

He followed her gaze to the bowl she’d ordered, and then looked down as she touched his chest. A moment or two passed before the realization clicked and by then he’d already been led away. Noe opened his mouth to protest but they’d already moved and it was a bit late for getting in the line all over again. It also was kinda her fault that he didn’t get to eat the first one… though this bowl had more to it, and would cost more. A form of apology? It would also be fresh and hot rather than room temp from sitting in his bag for a few hours…

She was writing again, and he nodded at the message.

“I figured it out once you tapped me.”

He put a hand over his chest to illustrate his point.

“I can still pay for it though, there’s no need for you to.”

He was pretty sure she’d deny him, but he really could pay for it. Not like it all didn’t come out of the school’s pockets anyway. If she insisted he’d just have to buy her food in return or something. Something with vegetables probably, judging by what she added to his bowl. Or he could just say ‘thank you’... but that seemed harder somehow than just retaliating. No, he’d just go to war over it, and if she insisted on paying he’d get her back. Snorting at the thought of the challenge, he tilted his head at her grin. Perhaps she was thinking the same thing? Oh, it’s on.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. She frowned a bit at his offer to pay, shaking her head in a stern ‘No’, and tapping her pointer and middle claws against her thumb for good measure. What was the point of going through all of this if he was just going to buy it himself? Couldn’t a girl buy a cute boy food without this fuss? Maybe a leash would be a good idea for him after all, she would have to see if there were any that matched his hair…

Still, if he wanted to make an issue of this, she wasn’t just going to stand there silently and take it. It would be easy enough to push him out of the way and buy it for him, or otherwise make sure he couldn’t pay for it before she did, but there needed to be a line drawn here. She made a quick gesture, pointing to herself, making an ‘O’, pointing to him, and then holding up one finger. He seemed to be catching on, maybe he would be able to handle something more complicated?
“I owe you one”

Smiling up at him, she clasped her hands in front of her, holding her notepad in front of her skirt as she rocked back and forth slowly on her heels. If she looked cute enough maybe he would let it go? She could probably manage a schoolgirl look, given that she was in fact a schoolgirl. This boy was a bit confusing to her, but figuring this out shouldn’t be that hard, right?
PostPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 7:52 pm

User ImageHe didn’t know what the claw click meant, but he understood her emphatic headshake. Noe was gearing up to argue the point, but she was making gestures again. Something about an O between the two of them. One of them. One… starts with o. Or is it one of whatever else started with O. Or was the O symbolic of a different concept. Damn, he was going to need to get a book to understand this girl. Well, her hand gestures anyway. He was pretty sure he’d never understand her as it were.

Hm. Her. Him. One O. A wave of heat went through him, warming his face at a rather dirty thought of what an O shared between them could be. She had been rather suggestive towards him. Was she propositioning him for…? Not something he’d ever done! Not that he wouldn’t be willing as it were… and she was pretty cute… he just, I mean. WHAT.

Clawed hands rose to cover his face, rubbing lightly as he worked through the sudden flash of embarrassment. No. There’s no way that’s what she was trying to tell him. They were in public and even though he couldn’t read sign language, surely some of the staff could and she was way too flippant to suggest something like that in front of others. Maybe. Honestly he wasn’t sure. She DID give him a bit of a show earlier, what the hell did he really know about her? Not even her name. Still, no, no way that’s what she meant. When he looked through his fingers at her she was doing her very best to look innocent; rocking back and forth with a smile on her face. Ok, now he seriously wasn’t sure. No one looked that innocent unless they were decidedly not. Quirking an eyebrow at her, he went back to rubbing his face, trying to expunge the visual of those stripes again.

Nine, what the hell. Growling softly, he took deep breaths to steady himself, trying to get his blood pressure back to normal. Someone prodded him in the back, nudging him to move up, and Noe raised his head out of his hands to see she was no longer in line. Nor was the food she’d ordered. ********. He stepped out of line and looked around, maybe she was by the stand for the cutlery and condiments. Damnit, he let her distract him.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Her rocking quickly stopped when he put his hands to his face, giving him a perplexed look. The last time he did this was after she accidentally gave him a show, but she had done no such thing here, and her uniform top wasn’t the sort that would slip off that easily. Was she that good, or maybe he had a thing for schoolgirls, something else that caught his eye? She rolled her eyes, more things to investigate for sure, but she didn’t really have time to work it out right now.

As luck would have it, the stir-fry was finished cooking and she was able to skip off to the cashier while he was still lost in his own thoughts, waving her tail at him teasingly just in case he caught a glimpse of her back.

The line for the checkout was thankfully faster than the lines for ordering, and she was able to slip out into the main hall, setting the tray down next to the various toppings, sauces, and cutlery. She took the few moments she had to write a quick note and tear it out of her notepad, pocketing it for later use once the starved dog had come back to his senses.

While the pad was still out, she made a quick note to look into schoolgirl outfits, perhaps she was only barely catching his attention? She could do better than that, for sure. And a leash, she definitely needed to get him a leash, though whether to tease or actually use on him she wasn’t sure yet…
PostPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 11:10 pm

User ImageSure enough he found her there, a tray with the stir fry bowl upon it resting near the condiments while she seemed to be writing in her notebook again. Huffing, he approached her and tapped the tray with a claw, trying to get her attention. When she looked up he did his damnedest to keep a straight face and give no hint to what he’d just been thinking about a scant few moments ago, though he could feel his cheeks were still a bit hot. Ignoring it, he scowled at her, brows furrowed together.

“You didn’t have to. Now I’m just going to have to find a way to pay you back, you realize.”

Come to think of it, she didn’t buy any food for herself. The thought made his ears perk as he wondered about it. Did she already eat? Or… spend the last of her weekly stipend on his lunch? Please no, he’d feel like s**t if that were the case. Yea, it was her fault he’d lost the better part of his food earlier, but he could’ve settled for an apology or a few more sticks of jerky rather than putting her out a meal. Come to think of it, she never did say ‘sorry’ exactly, and like hell was he going to expressly say ‘thank you’ either.

“What about you? You do have a lunch, right? You didn’t just forgo a meal to feed me did you?”

Was that what she was writing? It’s not like she was a Bapho and later going to call in this ‘favor’ for something, so why go through the trouble? He shook his head no, making up his mind not to eat it if she hadn’t eaten, or wasn’t going to.

“I can’t accept it if you haven’t eaten, you should eat it, especially since you paid for it with your account. I’d feel like an a**.”

Well, more so, anyway.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. She quickly closed the notepad when he tapped on the tray, startled and blushing slightly. Sure, the leash thing might be something fun she could tease him with later, but if he caught her writing it down right now? That would be trouble for her, at the very least. Probably of the “Stay away from me!” kind, or even being called to the Headmaster’s office if he was really upset.

Trying to resume a more calm exterior, she tilted her head at his promise to pay her back, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at him. He probably wouldn’t take her reaction the right way, and he was too cute to let go just yet. What was with this boy, though? He could easily blame her for losing the first bowl, even though it was cold and yuck, not to mention he was too high strung for his own good. Why was he making such a big deal out of her buying him food to make up for it?

She shook her head again at his promise to not eat, torn between writing a stern “Go eat, you grumpy puppy”, or simply marching him to the table to eat. Or… A sly grin crossed her face for a moment, before she quickly replaced it with a more innocent smile. She grabbed the notebook and wrote a short message to him, turning it around so he could read it. While he was hopefully distracted, she grabbed two forks and held them up with her other hand, behind the notepad but still in view once he was done reading. Time to see how hungry he really was…
“I’ve already eaten, before my free period”
PostPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 11:22 pm

User ImageHer expression just seemed startled when she looked at him, slight tint to her face that made him wonder for just the briefest pause if she’d gotten a look at his thoughts from earlier. Though she seemed exasperated in short order as she shook her head, though he couldn’t understand why she suddenly smiled, though he was pretty sure it didn’t bode well for him. He didn’t know her long and already he was learning not to trust her to do something expected, side eying her as she wrote out something to him.

Reading the short response as it was flipped for him, Noe shrugged. Ok, so she says. But did he believe her? His ears flicked though when he noticed she was holding two forks in her other hand. Oh. Well, huh. His eyebrows rose slightly as his jaw slackened and he looked at her again. It, ah, would take care of the worry that she hadn’t eaten. And he was still really hungry, and with the food right there it was just so hard to say no. Even if it felt oddly intimate to share food with someone he’d known for less than an hour. Still, she paid for it dammit. Maybe he’d just have her eat until her fill and eat the rest. Or something. Swallowing, he crossed his arms as he looked down at her too-innocent smile. He was supposed to say something here, he just wasn’t sure what.

“Uh… well. I guess that works. I’ll just… eat what you don’t want then.”

He busied himself getting napkins to give him a bit of mental reprieve, and then realized hey, he could get sauce too. This normally didn’t happen since a container of liquid in a school bag never ended well. He took one of the little plastic cup things and filled it with the dark stuff he didn’t know the name of but liked. Oh man, warm stir fry. With sauce. All for the low, low cost of humiliation, eating in the cafeteria, and embarrassing the hell outta himself in front of a cute-but-crazy mute girl. At least she wouldn’t gossip about him. Er, write it. Maybe. ********. Nah, too much effort beyond ‘short Grimm guy is a dork’ which wasn’t anything he hadn’t heard before. And frankly she was a bit odd herself so what could she really say? Write? Whatever.

Turning back to her, he balanced the sauce cup on top of the napkins with one hand, indicating the room at large with his other with a little sweep.

“After you then.”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. She giggled silently, shoulders moving before she looked up at him again and nodded. His terms were acceptable for now, and vague enough that she could still have her way without too much fuss, hopefully. If not she’d just have to play a trump card or something. She was a girl, she had a few of those she could use on him still.

Scooping up the tray while holding the notepad underneath, she glanced around the cafeteria before nodding towards an empty table along the wall. Out of the way, and where she would have him all to herself. Or as much as one could in such a place, at least. She headed towards the table she had indicated, sashaying her way across the room, her tail dancing along in time with her movements just in case he was watching her and not where he was going.

She thought of giving him another show while she had the chance, but there was too great a risk that others would see, and that just wouldn’t do. If she was going to do something like that, it was going to be a show meant just for him, not him plus 5 other guys, 3 girls, and perhaps a few teachers if she was that unlucky. She would never hear the end of it...

Setting the tray down at the round table, she gestured to the seat next to her, placing her bag down on the seat to her opposite side. If he was on one side of her, she wouldn’t want some stranger sitting on the other without an invitation, that would ruin the mood and any plans she might have. Positioning the tray between the two chairs, she sat down and stuck both forks into the stir-fry, glancing up at him as if daring him to make the first move. Would he let her have the first bite as promised, or would he succumb to the urges of his stomach?
PostPosted: Thu Apr 07, 2016 2:52 am

Her laughter was visible, though it made no sound. His ears rotated curiously at this, wondering what her laugh would’ve sounded like had she could. Breathing a small sigh of relief that she was agreeing to his suggestion (though that was perhaps a bit suspicious in and of itself), Noe waited for her to spot a table and then followed her. Looking up, he could see a lot of tables in several states of full to empty, though she continued to pass them by. Huh. His eyes glanced down and were met with a wiggling tail, one that danced behind her steps in time with her hips. She… had to be doing that on purpose. Ok either Imps were a lot more provocative by nature, or maybe she just was. Or she was flirting with him. Why he didn’t know but… damn those wiggles just suggested something far more salacious than just walking.

He swallowed hard and forcefully kept his eyes up as they seemed to head towards an empty spot way in the back. Noe allowed the barest of tail wags at this, a swish really, though he did appreciate them being more out of the way. Watching as she settled in, he glanced around the cafeteria before nodding at her.

“Good spot.”

She patted the chair next to her and once again he had to wonder at what her intentions were. Was it the great race divide? He’d be stopping by the library later, he was sure. It seemed rude to just settle across the table when she did go through the trouble of paying for the food, though she could just as easily push the bowl across the table once she was done with her share. Debating for a moment, he sighed and let his shoulders drop a little in defeat as he settled in, pushing back the chair enough to give him a little space. He busied himself with settling his bag down at his feet while she started eating. Only, that’s not what she did. Looking at her and then back at the bowl with the two forks in it, his eyebrow lifted in a silent question as she glanced at him. An awkward moment went by and he just blinked at her, not sure what she was expecting.

“What?”

What the heck, why wasn’t she eating? Oh, maybe she was waiting for the napkins. Moving the cup onto the tray, he passed a napkin towards her and kept one in front of himself, looking between her and the bowl a few times with something akin to frustration and confusion.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. She silently giggled again, watching his eyes dart between her and the food. So close and yet he was resisting because of her, what a good boy. That leash idea was getting more and more appealing with every one of his actions, even if only for show. Manners even, offering her a napkin and the delicious sauce he had grabbed; he certainly knew his stir-fry, but apparently not enough to eat it at the right temperature. She still thought that was stupid of him.

Even so, he was being good, and she had an obligation to reward him. She took the cup of sauce and lazily drizzled it around the forks, setting it aside once all of its contents were distributed into the food. Picking up one of the forks, she smirked at him as she speared a piece of meat and a few veggies, making sure she got a bit of the sauce as well.

Putting the forkful up to her mouth, she gingerly licked it, tasting the sauce. Making a bit of a show of it, she slowly ran her tongue along the meat chunk, half-closed eyes not leaving his until the dollop of sauce was safely behind her lips.

As if suddenly aware of what she was doing, she blushed and ate the forkful like a normal girl, placing the empty utensil on the tray before daintily dabbing her mouth with the provided napkin. It was good stir-fry, and hopefully satisfactory to him as well, perhaps he’d pick up the suggestions and eat better?

She nudged the tray over to him now that she had finished her one bite, wiggling ever so slightly in the chair as she awaited his reaction, hands safely in her lap for the moment. Would he like it? Was he a strict carnivore and despised all things tasty and healthy? Either would be acceptable to her, for one reason or another.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 07, 2016 11:11 am

Huh, she liked the sauce stuff too. What is that anyway? Teriyaki? She seemed to be going slow on purpose, dragging out the act as she finally picked up a fork and rooted for what she wanted. Meat and veggies, ok so she wasn’t an herbivore or something like that. Vegetarian. Whatever. Though if that was an Imp thing or… or… what the hell was she doing, wait why is she doing that. Noe’s eyes bugged out slightly as she played with her food. Played with him. There really was no other word for it. He swallowed, hard, almost causing himself to cough. As it was, he really didn’t know what to do, even after she’d actually gotten around to eating the damned forkful instead of giving a show. That’s exactly what she was doing, right?

Of course now she was looking decidedly innocent of any ill intent, patting her mouth before sliding the tray and its contents across the table towards him. He paid it no heed and just continued to stare at her, his brain still not firing on all four cylinders. He blinked a few times, trying to work words back into his mouth. What was he even supposed to say to that? Who was this girl, and why the hell was she toying with him?

“Uh… so. I can see you already know that stir-fry quite well. Probably a first name basis and everything.”

A slight jab at their lack of a proper introduction. Or any introduction really, beyond being thrown into crazy. Joking about it helped normalize the bizarre situation for him, not that he wasn’t turned on. But admitting that would be like letting her win, and she’d probably tease him or something. Or maybe someone was recording this whole odd experience to mock him later. Seemed a little extreme of a set up though for just your average academy hijinks. What gives with this chick?

He side-eyed the bowl of food, now wondering if she maybe slipped something into it. A potion, perhaps. Now that kind of pranking did occur from time to time, but there were pretty severe consequences if it got out of hand or was really damaging. But the food still smelled really good, and he was still hungry.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. She tried to remain calm and composed as she watched him, not laugh at the look he gave her, or the adorable reaction he had. The little play she had with the food worked better than she had hoped, leaving him speechless and completely stunned. She tilted her head curiously when he finally found some words to use, unable to hold back anymore as her face scrunched up slightly, shoulders shaking just a bit as she giggled silently at his comment.

He did have a point though, neither knew the other’s name, and it was a bit difficult when someone couldn’t understand the other. She still didn’t mind, of course, but it was what it was. Which was something she could fix, or at least try to. Pointing to herself, she signed and mouthed the letters ‘T K’ for him, and then realized that he might confuse that for something else.

Pausing for a moment, she waved her hands in a ‘start over’ gesture, and then signed the alphabet for him at a reasonable pace, pausing on the two letters she had used previously. Once she had gone through the whole list, she repeated the nickname for him once again, her expression having turned a little more serious as she waited for an indication that he understood her.

It was fine if he didn’t, she could easily write it down, but if he was going to understand her he would need to learn eventually. Soon, even. If he couldn’t at least put that much effort in, then she just wouldn’t talk to him. Maybe. He had been handling her flirting and teasing rather well, she might give him a second chance if it came to that.

User ImageTilting his head as she had the decency to laugh, he snorted himself, unable to suppress a grin. Then she was off and gesturing again. Noe simply didn’t know her, or her mouth, well enough to try and figure out what she was saying. So much of lip reading for the untrained was knowing the person well enough to guess what they’d say, and have seen their face move that way before. Pattern recognition, really. He could tell that she was trying to give her name, as it were, but he shook his head.

“I haven’t a clue what you’re trying to say.”

The rapid hand waves with her eyes squinted looked pretty universal though. ‘Forget it’, or ‘no, no’. But then she was doing more signs, and honestly the pace wasn’t helping. It was like talking slower for someone, in another language. The only result was to make him feel even more dumb for not getting it.

“Cyllenus! Slowing down’s not gonna help. I have no clue what you’re trying to tell me. Couldn’t you just write it?”

Which made him wonder why she wasn’t writing it down in the first place. Something she didn’t want evidence of? Then it wouldn’t just be her name… right?

Pushing his hair back with a sigh, he looked back at the tray and it’s rapidly cooling contents. However, she’d had only a forkful. And that forkful’s purpose hadn’t been to make her feel full by the looks of it. Hell.

Noe eyed the bowl, and then looked at her and nodded towards it.

“Are you… sure you’re done? You just wanted that one bite?”

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Huffing playfully and blowing hair out of her face, she relented and dug out her notepad again, careful to flip to a page that didn’t have her short list of things to do later. She wrote out a short message to him, ‘signing it’ with her name this time.
“I told you, I already ate. I just wanted to try it. It’s really good though, you should eat it before it gets cold. I won’t buy you another one.
-T’kani”

She went back and underlined her threat, just in case he was thinking of offering her more of the stir fry, then turned it so he could read. Pondering glaring daggers at him until he finally started into the bowl, she decided on putting her hands in her lap instead and trying another innocent look on him. They seemed to be working so far, why not?

Glancing up at the clock for a moment, she worried her lip. She figured he was a fast eater, given how quickly that jerky disappeared in the quad and the forkfuls of the cold stir fry, but that was a full bowl. He better not let it go to waste…
