"That's what I hear around the grapevine, anyway. You hear some s**t, cutting ladies' hair all day." Salons were known gossip mills. Get a woman in a chair and wash her hair, and you could damn near get her social security number out of her. It was kind of funny, cutting one woman's hair who thought her husband was a cheating slut, and then meeting the 'little skank' that afternoon for a four o'clock bleach job. So of course, when some of the women worried about their little ones running around 'that house on the beach with that... now I'm a good christian but I'm telling you, that's a witch', Autumn got to hear about it.
"Sounds good to me. I'm telling you, with food, you gotta try everything at least once. That way, you find out what you REALLY like and don't like. It's a little adventure for your stomach!" Autumn laughed, cutting into her duck. She mulled over a bite, delighted at the rich and flavorful taste. Man, she'd made a good decision in picking her meal.
"I couldn't say. I haven't got any pets of my own, so that little guy wins the contest by default." He hopped over to her lap, and Autumn squealed in delight. Cute, cute, cute!!! Autumn set her fork down and devoted her attention to petting Mogget, completely and utterly enthralled.

“You are…brilliant. Just BRILLIANT. I am… I’m going to start on that as soon as I get the chance. You don’t mind if I contact you again if I find anything? I mean I have …I have Jeremiah and Alg but… but you’re the one who gave me the tip so it seems wrong to leave you out at all!”
He watched her mull over her bite of duck and waited till he got approval before taking a small forkful to try him, carefully pulling a small corner of it free to reach over to Mogget.
The little cat sniffed at it, whiskers curling forward and his little pink nose tapping at the piece of meat, once, twice… and the he delicately took the edge into his mouth and quickly pulled the rest free. His purr rumbled up and down with each snapping bite as the cat, it seemed, also savored the rich dark meat, tail curling into a tiny spiral against his hip as he chewed.
‘Well…you seem to be good with pets, maybe you should look into adopting” advocated Zac. “Alg feeds a lot of strays and out door cats by the Bibliophile, it’s pretty cool to watch. Actually that’s how I met Mogget.”

"Please do! I'd love to learn more about this myself, but work has to be a priority in my life. Autumn winced internally. Work. Oh, jeez. She'd totally forgotten about work in all of the craziness of getting back from Other Ashdown. That meant tomorrow she was gonna have to deal with shitty tips and gossip. The gossip she could handle, but man. One bad tip and she might blow up at someone. She'd just have to distract herself thinking about the Otherworld, and Zac's research, and PRECIOUS ANGEL CHILD MOGGET.
At the suggestion of adoption, Autumn stopped her eating and blinked. She hadn't really thought about it, what with moving to town, finding work, and getting pulled into a satanic otherworld. But... Ashdown had to have its share of strays in need of good homes. Autumn found herself grinning from ear to ear, and nodded enthusiastically.
"That's a GREAT idea!!! I love it!!!"

Her enthusiasm was a delight, Zac had a personal adoration about seeing animals get rescued. Between his project to be, and her enthusiasm at the idea of a rescue the day felt like it had taken an upturn.
“You’ll have to let me know if you find any potential candidates, we could see if they get alone with Mogget and we could have like… a kitty play date.” He grinned.
“Prrrm!” agreed Mogget, or maybe it was just because he’d been distracted from his new bath on her lap, he was clutching one of his hind legs, toes spread from cleaning between them. He glanced up at Autumn like he was interested in the conversation, and … he had left his tongue out, a little pink ‘comentary’ on life in general perhaps.
Or maybe he just knew how cute people found it.

"Oh my god. Oh my god, look at his little blep. LOOK AT HIS LITTLE BLEP," Autumn squealed, hands pressed against her cheeks in delight. Autumn wasn't just smitten- she was in love. This little cat was absolutely PERFECT. Petting him with one hand, she looked back up to Zac, utterly delighted.
"Okay. Okay. I'm gonna be real here- we're gonna have to end this soon, or I'm just gonna steal this cat from you. It's a problem. So uh."
She signal the waiter over to pay for the meal- both of their meals- and beamed at Zac.
"Let's get together again and brainstorm over all this magical s**t, yeah?"

Zac had his hands over his mouth, shoulders shaking as he tried not to laugh too loud at her adoration of the ‘Blep’ that Mogget was still sporting, even as he gazed around, eyeing all the people and even holding it as he was summoned, via a Zac patting his lap, to come back ‘home’ to the hoodie. The Cat gave ne final peek over the table, golden eyes and tiny pink tongue before tucking himself into the hoodie again with a wave of his tail and a satisfied sigh.
“Thank you, so much for this, I really needed it, and I will absolutely contact you with anything I find on the… magical shenanigans.” He grinned.”
