He watched her for any sign of wariness or disappointment or fear, but none came. Ashley was as pulled together as any of the other agents that Aurostibite spent his time around, and he found it extremely satisfying. She was a good choice, after all.
And hopefully she would remain one after he recruited her.
He took a step forward, one gloved hand rising.
"Don't be afraid," he said quietly. "It will be a little disorienting, but after the uncomfortable beginning, you will feel a great deal better. The strength will come to you easily, you have a good mind for it. Stay strong and hold onto that feeling of capability."
The tips of Aurostibite's fingers touched Ashley's sternum - and then he pushed, his hand sinking into the space where her starseed was kept safely away. He wrapped it around the fragile object and sunk the chaos in, concentrating hard to keep the balance between too much and too little.
"Awaken," Aurostibite whispered quietly. "Awaken, Lieutenant."

Aurostibite had called the process uncomfortable and Ashley had been prepared for that.
Well at least she thought that she had been prepared for that because a little bit of discomfort wasn't exactly something to be feared. Unpleasant - yes, uncomfortable - certainly, but not fear.
She was not expecting the hand that pressed against her chest before somehow - impossibly so - pressed inside.
Her lips parted, her grey eyes wide and perhaps she would have tried to say something, perhaps she would have tried to do something.
But it was already too late, a whimper escaping her as she felt a wave of something that could only be described as sheer agony.
And whilst it was something that as Aurostibite promised only lasted a few moments, those moments felt like an eternity as the agony branded her and changed her. And when she was finally aware of something that wasn't pain, when she became aware of the taste of copper from where at some point she had bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, it was no longer Ashley Williams standing before the General, but rather the Negaverse's newest recruit.

He knew it was painful; he pressed harder, to quicken the process, and felt the Chaos twisting its way around her starseed, sinking into it. It was never a pleasant process, but the end result meant much more than the time it took to get there.
He felt the change; and once he determined that enough had been pushed in, Aurostibite pulled his hand free and took a step back. Blue eyes flickered over the new uniform, the crisp, clean lines of a Negaverse outfit, and he gave a nod of satisfaction.
"How are you feeling?" he asked quietly. "I apologize for the pain; it's been a long time, and I forget just how intense the change can be. But it should be gone now; are you well?"

She sucked her bleeding lower lip momentarily as she considered the question, the taste of copper once again on her tongue.
She could still feel the pain... Could still remember its intensity. And it was not something that she thought she was likely to forget.
However it was memory of rather than actual pain, the pain from before ebbing and dulling.
"Different" she decided finally, decisively "I feel different" and it wasn't just because of the sudden outfit change to black and silver or how the hair that she had put up into a ponytail earlier now hung in loose blue curls.
No it wasn't just the sudden and so far inexplicable outfit change - this difference was a deeper one.

He gave a small nod of his head, his gaze shifting briefly across her uniform once more. A dark black with the faintest of blue tinges to it, similar in color to his own, which pleased him. Not quite as dark; her detailing and trim were slightly lighter, and her hair was a down and curling about her face.
"Different is all right," said Aurostibite. "I'm glad to see that the transition went as expected, however; you look quite well put together."
He smiled a little, the expression on his face lightening as he strode in a small circle around her, carefully examining her.
"And now...a name."litian did you want auro to choose the name or would you prefer her to choose it biggrin

"A name..?" She started with a slight query in her voice, because she already had a name.
Except..
Except for some reason that she couldn't really explain, she didn't really feel like Ashley Williams right now.
Things were different. This was different - however it wasn't a bad difference.
Because whilst there were still a lot of things that she didn't know - she knew that something had changed and whilst it was something that she would have to get up to scratch up on because she hated being in the dark about things - she had a feeling that it would be a good change.
And so her lips quirked up in a small smile in return.
A name.

"Every new recruit gets a name," said Aurostibite. "An alias by which they are known while powered up. It's for our own protection and care; you will not be recognizable as your civilian self while powered up, so it's necessary to provide a secondary name that suits you more.
He tapped a gloved finger against his jaw, contemplating her for a long moment.
"Reinerite," said Aurostibite finally. "Lieutentant Reinerite, welcome to the Negaverse."

She nodded, the explanation one that made sense. "I'm assuming in that case that there is also a way to power down as well then?" she said quietly, her words a query. "Since I guess that it would probably not be a good idea for me to turn up at the dorms looking like this."
The idea of a secret identity was exciting however - something different and whilst she had been using the 'd word' quite a lot tonight, she didn't have anything better with which to describe it - at least not yet.
She nodded at the name before repeating it "Reinerite" liking the way in which it tripped off the tongue and noting the title that he had given her - 'Lieutenant'.
"Thank you General." And then "I know that there's a lot that I don't know," a rare admission on her part "But you have my promise that I'll learn." She would take getting up to scratch as a challenge she decided and she did not back down from challenges.
Because the newly recruited Negaverse Lieutenant had no plans to waste the opportunity that had been given to her.
