Mnyiri flashed her big sister a grin, "Sure thing! There's no way you're going to be able to get rid of me now, anyway, so we might as well meet up in Sauti, right? Check out all that barren land together; sounds like fun." The part about exploring Sauti really didn't seem all that fun to her (she much preferred Jauhar's colors and landscape, but then again, she was biased). However, getting to spend more time with Ilyra did sound good.

"That is...awesome. It makes you sound like a legendary warrior or something; someone who trained herself up to take on monsters and bad guys from all across the world!" Mnyiri swept her hands into the air, almost like she was painting a picture with her finger tips. The motion caused the bells in her dreads to chime out a little frantically before she calmed. "I think both of my mamas' expected me to go with a bow, but when Mama Ysmir passed....well, they gave me her spear and she would have gotten sooooo mad if I just sat it in a corner or hung it up on a wall, you know? I wish I was better with it, though. I'm trying to be a Guardian, like she was, but I'm not..." She gesticulated once more, twisting her wrists, fingers splayed as Mnyiri struggled for the right phrase. "...collected enough? I dunno. The elders blame it on my mixed blood, so I never really got any, like, formal training. Just a lot of jabbing and stabbing on my own."

She tried not to let it bother her, but it was impossible not to change just a little after hearing that sort of slander every day. Her mothers minimized the damage, as did her friends and neighbors, but it still stung. "It just makes me so-" Mnyiri snorted with aggravation and huffed, "I'm just as much a Sister as anyone else! Just because I have white hair and skinny eyebrows....I mean, come on, that's the only difference and it's so stupid to shut me out."
