It's probably illegal to tell you, Alexis didn't say, because for once it wasn't -- they just couldn't come up with anything that'd been particularly spectacular. "You never skipped out on getting found by hiding? They make great hidin' places, too."

"You know, I never tried," Rylan said with a shake of his head. He leaned back and glanced down at his long legs. "Hard to hide all six and a half feet of me." Except when he was younger, maybe. Anyway, his hand-eye coordination was anything but stellar, so scaling trees and getting onto roofs seemed a little out of his league. "What do you hide from? People like me?"

Alexis snorted. "'m five foot three. Not getting any taller at this point. You ever met a short person who wasn't angry? We're all angry." And there was a well-hidden anger underlying their words, like a razor: calmed, now, since the conversation was acceptable, but the threat was still there."I think that's my business, not yours, yeah?"

That was... true. Rylan thought of his sister Casey, also 5'3" and... well, not angry per se, but definitely fiery. Definitely more fiery that all of the rest of the family combined. "Sure. It's your life, nobody's going to tell you how to live it."

Alexis paused for a second, just staring out into the fog, not entirely distant but also not quite entirely there. And then -- "...I've gotta go." They hopped down from the truck in one fluid moment - frightening for the split second before they hit the ground soundlessly - and turned over their shoulder, tossing off a sarcastic salute at Rylan before walking off into the fog, breaking into a quick sprint once they were hidden from sight. (They'd also taken Rylan's wallet with them, pilfering it at some point during the discussion. ...As one did.)

Rylan watched them go, sat for a second, and then hopped off the truck as well. It took him a few minutes to realize his wallet had run off, and he turned back over his shoulder to see Alexis disappearing into the fog. "That's what you get," he said to himself, amused, shaking his head. Ah well. Such was life. He pulled out his phone and readied a call. Time to cancel all of his credit cards.
