Samara giggled. "Oooh, luck of the coin flip. Well that sounds way better than any ideas I could think up right now." Something about luck and chance had always greatly appealed to her. She eyeballed the coin, humming as she considered it while also admiring it. "I guess Sun for studying and Moon for Geist-ing," she finally called. It just seemed appropriate that the moon would be for Geist activities, given their very wispy, almost ethereal look. Sure a lot of studying took place at night as well, but since school and all that took place in the day it seemed logical to assign that side of the coin to studying."

Samara grinned, which probably wasn't the most immediately reassuring thing she could have done. It was pretty obvious to her by this point that something was bothering Newt. She could narrow it down to one of two possibilities. The first possibility was that Newt had developed a crush on her. It had happened before back home, and the reactions of a crushing person differed based on personality, but shy nervousness was certainly one of the symptoms. The other possibility was that something about Geists bothered Newt. It could be for a number of reasons, but since she was no budding psychologist the reasons didn't interest her so much as the end result. Obviously the first possibility was more flattering to her ego, but either meant to she could tease Newt without even having to try. It was an excellent cure for boredom and a nice distraction from the annoyances of failed tests.

"Okay, so I'll tell you how I learned, but we might have to work at it a bit since you're also part Nixie. You want to get a sense for your body. You can feel when you move an arm or a leg, and if you focus enough you should be able to feel when you move your tendrils. They mostly do it without you having to think about, just like how you move your arms and legs without having to think about it. The process of learning how to sense your body helps you begin to sense the flow of energy and magic that runs through you. Once you're able to get a feel for it, we'll start to work on you actually controlling it." She paused to see if Newt had taken all that in, then continued.

"So for now, just sit however is comfortable to you, close your eyes, and try to feel what your body is doing. If you can go straight to the Geist parts of yourself then that's fine, but some people find it easier to work from their body to their Geist parts."

Samara looked a bit puzzled at the question. "I....guess," she said, though the way she drew out the words and her bemused expression didn't lend any confidence to her words. "I mean they're kind of part of me, but also more like energy than my solid body," she added, looking over to her arm and running her fingers through her tendrils, which slid through the tendrils, causing them to swirl about as though they were made of smoke. "It's kind of like mist or fog to me. Kind of cool and a feeling of being damp without actually being wet."

She looked up and examined Newt, cocking her head to the side in curiosity. "I dunno. Maybe yours feel different because you're part Nixie? Or maybe it's all in your head. If you don't like the thought of them being slimy, try to think of something else they might feel like. Since our bodies are very attuned to magic and energy, your thoughts might actually be affecting your tendrils."
