Guilt made Menthe shrink. This new acquaintance had been nothing but generous to her, for reasons that she didn't really understand, she wanted to help, but the mangy lioness had no desire to involve anyone in her affairs. There wasn't any need to really.

Giving the sky an anxious glance, Semanggi would chastise her if she was gone too long, when she glanced back the other was arranging something on the ground. Curiosity made her scoot closer, breathing in the sweet honey scent with a tiny, grateful smile. She was right. It was strangely soothing. Unlike the other lioness she didn't have a pouch to keep them in and wasn't sure exactly what she was expected to do with them—if they were even for her. Maybe she'd only wished to share the scent for a little while. Hesitant to interrupt the almost peaceful look of the stranger's face as she basked in the fragrance. Are they for me? What.. uhm.. what should I do with them then?

"You do whatever you want to do," Naheed said with a shrug, closing her pouch gently, "I rub them on my chest, the backs of my paws, that way I can smell them when I'm running. Or you can stash them somewhere and let them dry, the scent gets stronger that way. Just make sure if you do that it's not near any anthills." She'd had a whole batch of jungle flowers ruined that way, it had taken her days to get back to the glade where she'd found them and even then, they had started to fruit.

"There's no right or wrong thing to do with something pleasurable." It was more of a stray thought than a statement, but it felt like it made sense. She glanced toward the horizon, beginning to smell the oncoming dusk. It might rain, that would be nice.

For a long moment Menthe stared down at the yellow blossom petals, considering what she should do with them then, suddenly, she dropped to the ground to roll on them. A new layer of dust now coated her fur, the petals stuck where she had lain on them until gravity pulled them back to the ground, but along with that dust she now carried the faint honey scent on her fur. It certainly wasn't as suiting to her disheveled, boney appearance as it was to the regal stranger, but it did make her feel better in some weird way.

Carefully gathering the petals that had been scattered about, she tucked them with the hyrax, intent to attempt to let them dry so she could use them again, maybe use them in the water when she next had time to bathe. Tipping her gaze toward the stranger, she realized she didn't even know the name of the one she was so grateful to, shyly dropping her her eyes to her paws. You're very kind. Thank you.. for everything.

Slowly following the distant gaze that had settled on the horizon, Menthe added softly. I hope you find everything you're looking for.

Naheed stifled a laugh when the other began to roll. It was nice to see her loosening up some, even if just for a moment. She gathered her composure, nodding as she turned to leave. "I hope you do as well," said with a pause, "Maybe we'll meet again some time, when I find a place to stay for a while. My name is Naheed, should you ever need to find me. I tend to leave a trail." A trail of lovestruck young boys, sometimes, or those who would spit on her name for her minor thefts.

She began to walk away and then paused for a moment without looking back, "Take care of yourself first whenever you can, you've only got one life."

Naheed. Repeating the name thoughtfully as she watched her acquaintance begin to take her leave to whatever promising future lay ahead for her, Menthe bobbed her head gently. She would always remember the Goddess-esque lioness who had given her hope of more when she'd had none, even if hope for someone like her was a dangerous thing. I hope we do meet again some day. However much she might have wanted to say it, the painted lioness said nothing of the sort.
Instead she only dropped her gaze to the ground beneath her paws and smiled ironically at the advice. Menthe knew better than to think her life was worth much of anything, she wasn't special. Not like Naheed.

Good luck, Naheed. Maybe, if they met again she would offer her name, but until the day when she could hold her head up proudly and claim herself as her own, she was only Semanggi's daughter.
