He would have rather been presumptuous than have her thank him only for him to react poorly to something most would consider totally normal. Of course when she said she knew someone who was also in the Navy, he felt himself frown more than he already was.
"I see," he said, watching her as she grinned, not trusting whatever it was she was thinking. He didn't go into detail about resigning his commission or anything like that. Or they may the thought of meeting someone else from the Navy wasn't exactly something he looked forward to. Especially when there was a high probability that, depending on how long they served, they've heard his name before. Or his father's name, rather.
"I think we should head back," he said, pushing himself away from the raining so he could tend to the sails while she steered. "Make a wide turn just up here," he pointed, grabbing some of the lines to help adjust the sail into the wind.

Oh, he'd see alright. Kukuku. Kukukukukukuku. Olga was just pleased as punch as she was thinking about it in her head. Getting Sergei out wouldn't be a problem---she couldn't explain it exactly, but she just knew she could get him to come out to these docks with her. "How long were you in for?" She asked, and then nodded her head vigorously. "Ah, okay!" She did as he directed, and then was twirling the wheel to make the wide turn, and admittedly, laughed with delight at the feel as the ship tilted to make the turn. "I'm got butterflies!" She exclaimed, more to herself to express her excitement. "So, you got any advice to a noob sailor who will probably be alone and tending to a smaller sail boat? On a planet far, far away?"

Michael watched as Olga did as instructed, although he stayed close to grab hold of the lines if the sails needed assistance turning against the wind. He frowned as she asked for his advice on sailing her own small sail boat.
"Don't do it alone," he said as he watched her progress in turning around. "At least not for the first few times. If you've already done it alone, either you've got great talent, or just have dumb luck." Until anyone who wanted to sail got a little experience under their belt, he definitely wouldn't advise going alone.
"Senshi of Ships, huh?" he asked softly, mostly to himself. He'd heard of plenty of strange magic that Senshi had, but a Senshi of a man-made object was a new one. Whatever worked, he supposed.
"What did Peter say about me? Just that I'm a knight?" he wondered, still watching her somewhat skeptically.

Olga grimaced. "Awww, really?" She frowned, briefly, her brows knitting, before her expression brightened once more. "Well, if that's the case---" She waggled her brows at Michael. "Will you come with me to Sedna, sail-senpai?" She did mean it as a joke---but at the same time, it couldn't have been a bad thing either, right? The young woman then nodded her head vigorously. "Yeah! Just that your name was Michael, you were also a knight, and you had a sail boat!" Which was all win-win in her book. She beamed at him. "Speaking of---how long have you been a knight for?"

Michael raised an eyebrow at her request to have him come with her. He could hear the joking quality in her voice, but part of him was concerned that she wouldn't be able to find someone else who knew how to sail, at least for the first few times. If she wanted to try it out herself, obviously he couldn't stop her.
"If that's what you want," he said after a few long moments before deciding that he didn't really mind going with her if she really wanted him to. If she thought she could handle it on her own, then that was up to her, but he wouldn't decline her request for help.
"It'll be five years this fall," he said, frowning thoughtfully as he looked back on everything he's done. "That'd be the same amount of time I was deployed..." he added, sounding a little surprised with the revelation. "You're new to this, aren't you?"

Olga looked like she'd been slapped, starting a bit and her eyes going wide as Michael honestly agreed. She'd just been so use to tsundere grumpy guys always telling her 'no' (despite the fact she never listened to 'no' anyways), that when one actually said yes right off the bat, she didn't know what to do with herself! "...Y-yeah!" She suddenly got her voice back, and looked less startled. "Yeah! I'd love that! I'll---I'll try to figure out a time and work it out with you---can we exchange numbers?" Olga whistled though, at his answer. "Wooooooooow~" She breathed. "Man...From one service into another, huh? Was that weird? Well---minus the whole one being magical and the other not." She grinned. "Ummm yep! What gave it away?" She paused for a moment, looking ahead, and adjusting the wheel as needed. "Yeah...five months to your five years! Must seem pretty piddly, huh?"

Michael had no idea why she was looking at him the way she was, but his expression shifted into surprise at her sudden enthusiasm once she could speak again. He wondered if he was going to regret what he’d offered, but for now he figured he could go along with it.
In regards to the whole service thing, Michael just shrugged. It was in the past and not that important. “Not at all,” he said, moving to take hold of the wheel once they made their way closer to the docks. “Everyone starts somewhere. It’s not really a matter of experience or power or whatever when it comes to this war we’re stuck in. Of course be careful, but don’t think that just because you haven’t been one for as long doesn’t mean you don’t have just as much experience as others. Some power up once and then leave for years and come back claiming they know best because they first discovered their abilities before you. No offense, but I’d rather not scratch her,” he said as he tried to gently push her out of the way so he could take over.
“Yeah, I’ll give you my number. Feel free to call me whenever. Just don’t abuse it or I’ll block you,” he added, feeling like that was his typical disclosure these days. “Oh, and I go by Sessrumnir.” Just in case she needed to know.

If this was tumblr, Olga would be sparkly eyed emoji right now at Michael and his awesome and nice words. Maybe he didn't think they were a big deal, but they meant a lot to her. It was quite the contrast to Sergei and his 'since you haven't been in Navy, you no nothing, you have not fought vars, so you have no experience, and since you vere not born in Motherland, your spine is jelly, since you vere not forged in the depths of the frozen desserts, your resolve is veak'---so on and so forth. So caught up in the happy feeling this brought, she just floated off as Michael squeezed in to take over the wheel and to steer. "Huh...?" Olga blinked, snapping back to the conversation. "Oh!" Her eyes widened a bit. "Oh, of course, yeah, that's more than alright!" She scooted back a bit more, waving her hands at him. "I totally don't wanna be in any way responsible for harming your baby!" Now that she was free of steering, actually, she moved off to the side to peer over into the water. "I promise I won't!" She assured him with a chirp, and nodded, looking back over her shoulder to grin at him. "Yep, I know! That's a really cool name!" She paused for a moment, peering back down into the water. "What days do you usually go out sailing?"

Michael just shook his head at Olga's continued enthusiasm, but instead of being annoyed and wanting nothing to do with her, he found it... kind of endearing. Kind of. At least she seemed sincere in her interest in sailing more than she did with the whole magical nonsense.
"I don't go sailing all that much until it's summer break. I work during the school year, but once that's over I usually come out here every other weekend," he explained as he slowly allowed the sailboat to drift to the dock, and took the time to draw in the rest of the sails. While he preferred just using the sails whenever possible, it was good to have at least a small engine when it came to docking, and once the ship came in at the correct angle, he knocked the engine into reverse to line her up parallel to the dock.
"Alright, homework assignment is to Google how to tie knots," he said, stepping back from the wheel so he could pick up a short piece of spare line and toss to her. "Think you can handle that?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. If she was going to be sailing, she would have to know how to at least tie a few knots, otherwise it would be miserable. "I'll leave it up to you to figure out which knots would be most beneficial for sailing."

"That's coming up soon enough!" She grinned at the prospect. Olga also took to shadowing Michael as he moved about the boat, prepping it for docking. She observed what he did, and what order he did it in. "Sounds great! Do you take her out for any longer voyages than the one we did now?" She asked eagerly, looking forward to the prospect of spending a longer time out on the boat and out on the water. Blinking at the homework assignment, she then laughed. "You really are a teacher!" Olga caught the spare line, looked at it, and then snapped straight up to give Michael a salute. "Aye, aye, Captain Sailing Senpai Teacher Sir!" She dissolved into a fox eyed grin, and holding the spare line in another, whipped out her phone to exchange contact information. Guine I think we can wrap soon! *n* Maybe with your post? : D

“This was just a test run, to make sure everything is still running smoothly and doesn’t seem to need anything replaced,” he explained the shortness of their little excursion. That, and he barely even knew her, much less enough to go out onto open water for longer. She didn’t seem bad, just… really enthusiastic.
Michael opened his mouth to respond to her comment about being a teacher. Maybe to say that he was actually an engineer, but she was right in that his day job was as a teacher, and then there were a few more things he could be called if taking his military career into account, but that was long over.
“Yeah yeah,” he shook his head, although he couldn’t help a small grin at her seemingly sincere desire to learn.
And that was how, somehow, Michael Gallo got roped into trying to teach the Senshi of Ships how to sail. Lucyal Fin? You are the best~!!! Thank you!!!
