And now, I've beaten it too!
I was ready to beat the final boss and the replica, but fortunately I didn't have to. Wow, what a cool chapter! I love the feeling once you get a good strategy going and can consistently get far even if you get unlucky or something. But the strategy in question is sound.
I do wish that you didn't have to replay chapter 27 every time you failed endgame, though. That got a little annoying.
I think I can freely say that Conquest is my new standard for FE design. That was an experience.
Even though the story was flawed, I found myself getting invested thanks to the great characters and superb gameplay. So I give it a lil' leeway. I want to know more about this world and these people!

Chapter 10, even after finishing the game, remains THE highlight of gameplay in Conquest for me. I consider it to be the best chapter of the game. SO GOOD.

Chapter 19 - Interesting gimmick that makes you think at least, but kind of bullshit because it doesn't really make sense and there doesn't seem to be much to do to counter-strat except to just wait an extra turn. Great use of enemy skills, though.
Chapter 20 - It didn't understand the gimmick at first, but after a few turns of seeing it fully play out, I REALLY like this chapter and its use of dragon veins. Enemy skills made you have to be careful, too, if there's multiple that can attack one of your units at the same time.
Slowly finding time to play, chapter 21 doesn't look nearly as challenging, but we'll see.

Retrospectively, while I appreciate that CH 19 was challenging, having finished the entire game, I consider it to be the worst-designed/least fair gimmick in Conquest. Pass would be fine. Illusions would be fine. Both of them together when the Kitsune on the map often travel in packs or not at all approaches becoming cheap, while Conquest normally manages to be brilliantly difficult without resorting to cheap difficulty increases.
It wasn't terrible, but compared to some of the other things in the game it seemed like a low point.

Yeah, I didn't really feel 19 as much from first playing it, and not only was the gimmick not as well designed, but it wasn't even as challenging.... even with pass. At least for me. Because all you need to do to foil the chapter is also travel in packs and get some juicy beastkiller/keaton dualstrike action in there. And the kitsunes going up to me only to illusion more often than not just drew out the chapter for a turn more.
I'm happy you had the same experience with 20 as I did, Rath. It's something you really need to sink your teeth into, and when you do, it feels great.

Chapter 21 - #oh
It was fun. I thought it was going to be a total cake walk, but the game was smart. I'll give the chapter props on actually making me feel like I DO need to escape, even if only a little. The skills on the reinforcements make sense, but come oooon, I want the EXP. A nice touch is the the fact that the rear reinforcements have a different skill than the rest of the other units that functions the same way except that it always actvates, making you compelled to move forward, because those skills can hurt when they attack in large packs. The dragon veins really helped me out on this map... maybe a little too much?
What happens after felt kind of random and forced, but going back to my castle and visiting the place got me a little. I don't know why I would have expected nothing to be different.

20 takes a lot of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, the mechanic really does contribute a lot to the chapter in terms of complex strategy and difficulty without being unfair.
For 21, the Dragon Veins DO help tremendously, but then they felt somewhat obligatory for traversing up the path. I loved it. It felt like you really had to push forward at a good pace to reach a Dragon Vein every turn to get to the top relatively safely.
As for what happened after 21, I thought it was totally random as well and super difficult to get invested in. The castle is slightly sadder though.
You're on the last stretch now, Rath! Pretty much all the chapters from 22 and beyond push you and are really rewarding to complete.
If Rath+Tiki+FD could all three make a single bond unit, it would be named Conquest. cool

Now I just want to know that this bond unit would look like. We must make our Corrins procreate for science.
The true hard-hitting team conquest discussion right here.
Chapter 21 had really good atmosphere, I think. Getting through the chapter as fast as possible while freezing the enemies using the dragonveins gave me a feeling like a kid in a horror movie holding their breath so that monsters won't sense them as they sneak around for fear of being turned into dinner. I liked it.

So chapter 10 was a LOT easier the second time around, once I knew what I was doing. =P
Now I'm on chapter 12--the one with the pots, so I'm dubbing it the Pot Chapter--and making more angry screeching noises. XD;;
I am liking that Conquest has so far brought back a lot of the old school FE stuff while still introducing new ideas and really making you think. It just FEELS like a Fire Emblem game; I don't know how else to say it.
Going to take a third stab at the Pot Chapter and see who dies this time. =P

It was chapter twelve where I first really had to get good at "okay line everyone up here and here and if they get a little caught in the crossfire it's okay here's my turn fire off the dragonvein and deSTROY THEM ALL"
Or at least as many as you can in a single turn. At least all the effective damage people.

Made it through chapter 12! My usual play style isn't to rush, so chapters where you basically have to floor it are hard for me. XD;;; Chapter 13 I also had to do three times because of a certain pissy archer enemy. >:C
Chapter 14 though. Dat Nohr version dance. I want to yell more about this chapter and I haven't even done the map yet, but HOSHIDO SPOILERS. XD;;;;

Apparently I'm doomed to do nearly every map on Conquest multiple times before I get it right, eheheh. Chapter 14 I got through just fine; 15 I had to do twice--that chapter was really neat and I liked the gimmick once I learned to just park and bark on the bottom half. XD;;
Chapter 16 though. Take three on this will have to wait til tomorrow, but UGH, this is annoying. Thank God for Xander. #NohrSibsBestSibs
