Lyti
User Image"It is," Lyti agreed with the yellow-maned lion, hearing Naaja murmur the same beside her.

She didn't recognize the lion, but it was a large pride and she had not gone to much of an effort to exclude people from attending this celebration. No doubt there would be a great many celebrants who wouldn't even know who Svana and Käle were, and had only shown up because they were looking to get their party on. That was all right. Lyti just wanted her cubs' achievements to be celebrated in a memorable fashion.

"I am so proud of them," she replied, agreeing yet again. "Have you been viking with them? Perhaps you won't mind telling some stories later on, when more people have arrived and settled in with their mint."

Lyti would enjoy hearing about her cubs' adventures in the rogue lands. She hoped there would be a lot of stories told later.

Naaja
User ImageAfter her friend's attention was diverted by a lion who had come to congratulate her on her cubs' success, Naaja smiled and nodded a farewell. She was sure that Lyti's evening would be spent fielding these sorts of congratulatory remarks for some time to come, so it would be for the best, probably, if she didn't even bother trying to hold any sort of real conversation with her friend until most of the people attending had arrived.

"I'm going to see if Lissa's here yet," she said softly before walking away.

She didn't get particularly far before she saw a familiar figure mostly enshrouded by the strange shapes of the rocks. Her breath caught in her chest and she looked away. As much as she would have liked to talk to him, to just be near him, she couldn't do that. Not where someone might see, and not if she didn't know where her husband was.

Svana
User Image
Svana turned her gaze back to Soja, nodding as her sister spoke. "Tell him he will miss the meat!" She called after the star-marked lioness, thought she wasn't entirely sure Kale cared about the meat, or the mint for that matter. Chuckling as Soja went off to collect their missing sibling and the co-victim of this whole shindig, she was abut to address Bry once again when a tall yellow female walked up and greeted her.

grinning Svana bobbed her head. "Thank you." She replied, an easy and friendly laugh escaping. "An inspiration? Well, that is good. I hadn;t intended any such thing but if more females feel able to be reavers and Captains, then I wont complain." She grinned at the lioness. She was certain she had seen her often about the pride, but she didn;t recall a name so it was unlikely that they had met in any significant way before.

"I'm Svana, Lytisdottir." She glanced over at where her mother was talking with her close friend and a big white and yellow reaver she instantly recognised as Lennart, her old Captain's righthand lion. "That's Lyti." She explained, for Sabor's benifit.

User Image "It's amazing how much you do that affects others around you without realizing it," Sebor said with a little nod. "The small ones look up to us, but especially to the younger generations." She wasn't terribly old, but she had been in this pride long enough to see the new Captain's age group be born and grow. Her own children were about the same age as Svana, and one litter even a bit younger. "It's good to keep in mind," she added.

As Svana introduced herself Sebor nodded, the name committed to memory. "Sebor," she returned, not giving any relations from there. Her parents had never even known of the Stormborn, let alone joined it. She followed Svana's nod to see her mother who looked pleased as punch about the celebration.

"Now, isn't there another young Captain that should be here?" she asked, turning back to Svana. "Could you point me in his direction?"

User Image Runa laughed a little bit as Valka said she'd fight someone for food if they couldn't find any. That was just like her sister, that was for sure. She was backed up by Njord which made her stomach happy at least. Great, food was a priority, then they'd explore!

Those plans were hung up a bit as two other cubs came into view and began to introduce themselves. Valka took care of the introductions on their part and Runa smiled at the other males.

"Hi," she said as her siblings spoke up. The other males looked to be twins, so it was fun having two groups of siblings here. "Maybe with five cubs we can chase off an adult that's there and we wouldn't have to fight them!" There was strength in numbers, after all. Five cubs all stacked up made about the same size as an adult, right?

Lennart
User Image
Smiling fondly as he glanced over at the red-coated Captain, he nodded. "You have every right to be. They are a remarkable pair." Turning back he chuckled, a deep low sound of quiet pleasure. "Indeed I have, I am part of Captain Lucivar's band. Svana was an exceptional student and a very quick learner. The thrall Lucivar now owns was captured on Svana's very first raid." He offered, thinking Svana's mother would be proud to hear of just how successful her daughter had been as a reaver, outside of gaining her own Captaincy.

Her question elicited another nod from the large male. "I would be honoured to share a few stories. I mostly trained and raided with your daughter. Kekale wasn't with us as long as his sister. But I am sure Lucivar will be along shortly, and he can tell you more. I know he is exceptionally proud of both of them, and is planning on attending this party." Lennart glanced round, just in case the brown Captain had followed him, but Lucivar was likely making sure his blind mate was safe and comfortable before attending, that was, if she wasn't coming with him.

Princess_Feylin
Ooooh intrigue!!!

Svana
User Image
She nodded thoughtfully. It made sense, after all she had looked up to Lucivar and the rest of her trainers, and any othe rreaver she had considered particularly skilled at the time. She would never admit it, but she had also looked up to her brother, and still did in some ways. But being siblings it was something of a different situation. Still, she would readily confess that his drive had been what had pushed her to choose her own path in life. Starting from their easliest cubhood when he had wanted to play Reaver and Rogue with her.

Sabor's observation as to her brother's absence made Svana grin. "Actually, he isn't here. our sister Asoiaf just went to go try and locate him." She motioned to where Soja's rear view had vanished into the gathering shadows. "Oh, this is Bryndis." She added, nodding at the darker female beside her who shared Svana's patterning, if not her colouration.

Bryndis snickered at Asoiaf's search for their brother, and added "Tell him he'll miss the praise!" to Svana's suggestion. She shook her head with amusement, watching as her sister stalked off to drag Kale to his own party by the tail - or, at least, that's what her imagination was entertaining her with. Captain or Freeborn, it didn't matter, the sisters in this litter were not to be provoked.

"Greetings, Sebor." Bryndis inclined her head at the older female as her sister introduced her. Normally, she would have done so herself if she hadn't been so distracted. Now that she turned to regard the newcomer, she felt a flicker of recognition. No doubt, she had seen the lioness around the pride, and probably taken great interest in watching her endeavours as she tried to decide if she herself should become a Reaver. The female Reavers had always particularly held her attention, of course.

"'Tis a great day to die," she quoted formally, then, with a coy smile, she added, "And Kale just might if he doesn't come willingly."

Lyti
User ImageLyti nodded in response to Naaja's departure. She knew the two of them would catch up with each other later, and frankly she was a little surprised that Lissa wasn't here yet. She appreciated Naaja going to seek her out. She wanted her two best friends with her.

"I knew she had been involved in capturing a thrall on her first raid. She never told me that the captain had thought the thrall worth keeping for himself." That was definitely a good thing, in Lyti's opinion.

"I'm so glad that you and your captain are able to be here tonight. I'll look forward to hearing whatever you or your captain choose to share. I'm afraid both of my young captains keep a good deal to themselves about their adventures in the rogue lands. Likely they think they'll shock me." Lyti was not unaware that she gave the impression of being easily shocked, but she had grown up in the Stormborn and was not as fragile and delicate as she chose to appear.

Tanakako
Oh, yes. Intrigue indeed. But I'm not sure if it won't all happen off-screen, as it were.

Haldor
User ImageHalle frowned at Rask for taking the lead in making introductions, but the expression was fleeting. He had heard something about food, and like any lively cub, he was always interested in food.

"Valka. Njord. Runa," he repeated, nodding to each of the siblings in turn. "Good to meet you. You can call me Halle, and my brother Rask, if you prefer." And that was about all the thought he had to spare for further niceties when there were adventures (and food) to be had.

"I definitely think the five of us together could take on an adult if we had to. But probably we could also steal a decent-sized bit just as easily. There's more than enough of us to split into distraction and removal teams." Without even realizing he was doing it, Halle looked to Rask for confirmation of his idea.

Rasmus
User ImageRask was certain he would forget the other three cubs' names by tomorrow. He wasn't good with names at all, much to his chagrin.

"I'm certain that's doable," he agreed with his brother. "Except it doesn't look like anyone's guarding the meat anyway, so...I don't know if it's even necessary for us to go to that kind of effort."

He felt kind of bad for pointing out this obvious fact, and he was willing to go along with any plan put forth by one of the others, even if it was completely unnecessary, just for the fun of it, but he couldn't help it.

"You know...if no one's guarding the meat, I bet no one's guarding the mint, either," he mused. "I've never tried mint, but this could be a good time for it. After we eat, of course."

SilverLutz

I haven't really made any plans for him yet, except that when he grows up and becomes a reaver he'll go by the name Red Rask (to match his brother's Blue Halle).

[Valka Freeborn]
User ImageShe gave a small smile at her sisters words. She would make a good leader one day. She had strategic planning in her, though as Rask had said, there was no point. As she gazed around the adults were busy conversing and sharing their tales of battle. "As likely as we would be able to maneuver our way into some food, it's true. Everything is unguarded as the Adults are basking in their tales of blood and glory." She said thinking of how her own tales may go one day. "Let us grab the mint before the meat for I'm sure that will be what is gone before the meat is. I hear that it's quite tasty." She said looking among the five of them.

"Unless the three of you want to grab us some meat and the two of us can go grab the mint?" She suggested. She figured it would be better them to split up to grab the meat and mint before the adults got out of their chatter phase. She looked over at Runa and gave her a sly grin. "What do you say sis? Unless you'd boys would rather grab the mint and us the meat." She said with a raised brow. She had heard mint was a commodity to be had, especially after a good meal and she was wanting to be able to partake in some of that. She didn't doubt any of their abilities in the slightest, she just thought she'd throw the offer out on the table.

[Njörðr (Njord) Freeborn]
User ImageNjord remained silent as he listened to the exchange of words. "I'm down with either alternative. I for one would like to start over there now though." He said gazing between all of them. "I do have to say though, Val has a point, splitting up to grab some of both is the better option." He said looking around at the mingling adults. He was rather surprised they hadn't been told to go home yet and he eyed where the meat was and where the mint was and made a mental note to each of their locations. "What do you say? Shall we go and get us enough food and mint for all?" He said gazing at the two brothers.

He looked over at Runa and gave her a smile. "I'm all for getting the meat, after all, I did tell my sister I would make sure she had food." He said giving her a wink. He did tell her he would make sure she had meat so he was all down for going that route. He began to head in the direction of the feast and glanced at the brothers to see if they would come along, he wouldn't be able to carry that much by himself, though he would be able to get a good portion on his own. "What do you say? Shall we show the girls how it's done?"

"Eh, you and your being touched," Stiphen sniffed, content with herself as she managed to coax Brigh far enough into the festivities to be noticed.

"How will you attract men if you're not willing to let them touch you? Elder-Auntie worries about that, as she should," Stiphen commented, finally removing herself from behind her cousin and letting the girl plant her bottom firmly to the ground.

"I'm going to find meat and mint. You can join me or your can skulk about. Either way, people have seen you now and know you exist. No more invisible Brigh," Mumbled the spotted lioness as she sauntered to where she could smell the iron laden stench of fresh meat and the crisp tang of mint.

No more invisible Brigh, indeed. The lioness thought to herself, lacking the fake disdain she liked to use whenever Stiphen forced her into anything.

Truth-be-told, had it not been for her far more outgoing and overbearing cousin she probably wouldn't make many appearances in the pride at all aside from her treks to go see Gidjeon and spend time with that side of the family. She, like her grandmother and grandfather and many an aunt and uncle, preferred the quiet of the forest. She especially preferred it because there no one could see her ill, and no one would see her see.

Brigh looked lazily around the area that at this point was just bustling with what she imagined festivities of this sort were like but only watched from afar. There were cubs all about, old friends reminiscing and catching up and the occasional wall flower starring directly at her...

Wait, someone was starring directly at her?

Brigh did a double-take as she had only managed to catch a chance glimpse at the black-coated male who seemed to have distanced himself comfortably from the rest of the rowdy lions. She would have all but missed him save for the white streak in his mane and the white of his eyes. He was almost as good at keeping himself concealed as her aunt Ombra, who was pitch black from nose to tail to eyes and had made a habit of making a name for herself as a Ghoul by luring over the pride's cubs and scaring them from the dark patches of tree line.

Brigh starred right back at the male for what was bordering on an uncomfortable amount of time before she quirked her head to the side, clanking the bone necklaces once more before mouthing almost silently, "What?"

Rook
User Image
The dark male was so used to being invisible in a pride of far more exuberant and colourful lions that the sinple fact that he had actually been seen took a moment or two to sink in. Dark purple eyes widening slightly as realisation finally bloomed. Even then he wasn't sure that it was him she was looking at, tuning to glance over his shoulder just to make sure.

Returning his gaze to her almost involuntarily, drawn as he was by her fragile beauty, Rook unconsciously mirrored her motion, head tipping to the side slightly. Her silent question seemed to puzzle him, as he simply kept his gaze on her, focused and unblinking but oddly it wasn't creepy. For the male was too serious and reserved for it to seem such. After a moment he shifted, drawing his paw in closer, tail curling behind him, clearing the space beside him in silent invitation. Since she looked so uncomfortable out in the open he thought that she might appreciate the shadows within which he lay. And the remove from the bustle of the swiftly growing gathering.

The big reaver nodded in responce to her words. "He did. Mwana has bene living with him and his mate. She is Mbali's guide these days, and a very sweet little thing she is too. If Mbali accompanies Lucivar, I've no doubt Mwana will be with them." He knew that Mwana was typically at Mbali's side, having become the blind lioness' guide most of the time. Only when Lucivar was home with his wife did the thrall have more usual futies, but he had yet to hear her complain even once. She seemed perfectly content in her life here in the Stormborn.

Her observation made the big reaver rumble a deep, husky laugh. His expression still kind and relaxed as he shrugged one thick shoulder. "Maybe. Though to be honest much of the time is spent in travail, the exciting bits are usually over pretty quickly." Leaning in a little closer he shared a conspirital look. "Just dont let that get about, we reavers like to pretend its always exciting. What else are we good for?" Huffing another of his low chuckles he sat back again. "I am sure we can convince them to share their stories tonight. This is quite the feast you have provided." He cast an appreciative look at the piles of meat and mint set out near by.

Kizuka
User Image
"Come on." She snapped, glancing back at the pale-hued female trailing along behind her. "Stop fretting, that is more than suitable. No one else will even be bringing anything." Scowling she flicked her tail in irritation, her powerful frame stalking with sharp, jerky movements as she led the thrall towards the gathering up ahead. She would rather be anywhere but here, since parties made her skin crawl, but Ragnvard had told her in no uncertain terms that she had to attend. Well, attend she would, but she would not be alone. And if he thought she was going to report to him afterward, he was sorely mistaken. She may be in his band, but she was not his tool. She only followed him because he took his reavers out frequently and often further afield than most others. That was the only reason, as she could barely stand the male. Stuck up, pretentious snake that he was.

Kiso
User Image
Hurrying along behind the agitated reaver, Kiso struggled with the sack clenched tight in her jaws, trying not to trip over the low-hanging fabric which would surly end up with the soft fruit going flying and Kizuka administrating a beating. Not that Kiso had really recieved much beyiond the occassional cuff so far. And even then, typically the simple threat of a snarl had her rushing to obey her Mistress with all alacrity. Kiso didn't really mind either, Kizuka might be prickly and often violent, but that violence had as yet never been directed completely at her, and indeed she had seen the bad tempered lioness rip holes in other reavers, even lions bigger and stronger than her, in defence of Kiso herself, most often when those lions had tried to order Kiso to do something for them. So.. she didn't mind. She did what Kizuka asked, and in return she had shelter, regular meals and a protector in a pride that was, quite frankly, equal parts confusing and scary.

Normally her life was fairly quiet, except on days like today when Ragnvard irritated her mistress and Kizuka in return lashed out at anyone and everyone. But Kiso knew that her Mistress was just simply frustrated, and that she really didn't mean any of the harsh things she said when in one of her moods. Smiling softly around the cloth clamped in her jaws, she carefully yet hurridly followed the dark-furred lioness as Kizuka led her towards the gathered crowd.

Lyti
User ImageLyti didn't really know what Lennart meant by saying that the thrall was a guide to the captain's wife. Somehow, in all her talk about her wonderful captain, Svana had failed to mention to her mother that the captain's wife was blind. Rather than dwell on her confusion on that subject, Lyti smiled and moved the conversation along.

"Don't tell me that!" Lyti replied, feigning horror as she whispered. "I like to think of vikings as exciting. As, I'm sure, most of the pride does."

She was smiling even as she pretended to scold the reaver for spoiling her illusions. More people were arriving, and that made her feel better about the supplies she had provided. It would have been embarrassing if there hadn't been enough people to justify all the meat and mint. Just as it would have been embarrassing if there wasn't enough to go around.

Tanakako
He's a mystery!

Haldor
User ImageHalle could hardly believe that his brother had suggested they snatch some mint to try. Not that it had ever been explicitly forbidden to him, or any of their litter for that matter, but it had never been offered, either, and Vitania, their mother, had made it pretty clear that mint was for grown-ups.

He was so proud of Rask for putting forth the rebellious idea he could just burst. Or maybe that was his poor, starving stomach trying to burst free and go in search of its own meal, if he wasn't going to do it. He wouldn't put that sort of thing past a hungry enough stomach.

"Splitting up's a good idea," he said, once more glancing at Rask to make sure his brother agreed. It was nice to see his more warmly colored sib nodding along.

"What?" he said, turning to his brother, whose expression was one he wore when he was thinking something through.

Rasmus
User Image"Nothing," Rask said with a hint of a snarl for his brother for the way he'd said what.

The snarl was gone when he continued, "It's a good idea. I'm fine with splitting up, boys and girls, and it makes sense for us boys to get the meat, since we're stronger and will have an easier time carrying it."

He looked to the last cub, the one with the orange fluff of fur on her head and spilling down her back to her tail, awaiting her confirmation of their plan. She didn't look as similar as her two other siblings, but there was still a family resemblance. And her name was...Rayna? Rusa? Something with an R. He'd ask Halle when they were getting the meat. Halle would remember.

"Where should we meet up with our spoils?" he asked.

Hypnotika strolled into the party, her pale blue eyes idly scanning the gathering. Her slow, swaying walk made the swirls on her shoulders ripple rhythmically, and effect that Tika was well aware of and had been doing since she was tiny. She tossed her head, sending tiny pieces of metal woven into her orange braid tinkling. She surveyed those present, noting how it was broken into various groups.

There were the 'adults'... those grown and established in their chosen roles in the pride. She flicked her tail, with more tinkling sounds, and dismissed this group. She hadn't been raised on social niceties, and had no intention of congratulating the mother of the captains. What would be the point?

The group of cubs she also merely glanced at and dismissed. She had no interest in whatever silly games they might be playing. Cubs were a nuisance only in her point of view. They only got interesting when they were grown enough to take on a new role, like herself and those the party celebrated.

Two groups remained, that she could ascertain. One was less a group and more like a scattering of individuals who might or might not converge, while the last was of more interest to the dark red female. This was mostly made up of young females, though one had just left. And older adult addressed them currently, but that was where Tika wanted to be.

She sauntered across the gathering, tail flicking musically on occasion, and slowly approached those gathered around Svana. Tika was still a freeborn currently, but that was because she didn't rush into anything headlong. She had been training with her father, an accomplished reaver himself, and only now, as she breached adulthood, did she feel ready to embark on her viking. Soon. Perhaps with Svana's warband? Time would tell.

Without preamble, she spoke in a slightly husky voice once she was within polite speaking distance. "Congratulations, Captain Svana. May your enemies fall and your treasure grow." She flashed a slightly feral grin, eyes glinting with the idea of both things. Both would be hers someday... victory and loot!

Tallskog
User ImageTallskog had been hanging at the fringes of this gathering since the sun first began its descent, keeping effortlessly out of sight of the party's hosts and guests until he chose to make himself known. Until he saw Naaja arrive and go straight to her friend, the state of her fur betraying her upset. Tall knew she would hate that her mood was so transparent, and that it was no secret what had happened to sour her mood.

Still he waited in the shadows, keeping back until Naaja was on her own to reveal his presence to her. Once he'd done so, he knew right away that she had seen him, but the fact that she looked away roused his ire. He wondered if her husband had hurt her, and that was why she avoided his gaze. As soon as the thought occurred to him, Tall had to find out if it was true. If it was, he would kill the b*****d who had hurt her.

"Naaja," he said in a deep, almost dangerous tone as he stepped into her path. "You can't avoid me."

Naaja
User Image"Tall!" Naaja exclaimed in a soft hiss. "Of course I'll avoid you. We can't be seen together."

Despite her protest, she could not help but relax in the blond captain's presence. They had been betrothed to one another since they were adolescents, and although parts of that had been rocky, the pair had eventually come to love one another and look forward to their marriage.

At least until Naaja's father lost his position as warlord and the new warlord forced an arranged marriage between her and one of the b*****d sons of the daughter of the warlord who had led the pride before her father. "To demonstrate solidarity and prevent factions from forming."

She reminded herself of the importance of her unhappy marriage, and all the reasons why she should turn around and leave Tall completely alone, but her feet did not move in that direction. Instead, she found herself stepping closer to her former fiancé, almost as though he tugged on her magnetically.

Brigh watched as the dark male drew back his paw in invitation of her presence. She frowned. Looking back and forth between the growing brood of lions and thralls, and the bold, inviting male, she made her decision quickly. Quickly trudging towards the male, bones and bits jingling around her neck, Brigh took the remove.

She still made sure she was not too close to the male. The last thing she wanted was to accidentally bump into him, and have a vision there and then. She'd never be able to leave the forest and show her face again if that happened. She could only imagine, the twitching, the frothing, the vomit. How unattractive, how weak.

Brigh kept the frown on her face for a few moments before breaking the silence, her voice cracking every now and then, "You're almost as dark as my aunt. The only thing you can see of her is the white of her eyes."

Svana
User Image Her darker sibling's comment sent a rich peel of laughter from the young Captain, her moonlit eyes crinkling as she grinned toothily at Bryndis. Her head nodding in mirth-filled agreement. "Truly, Soja will not take no for an answer. Though I wonder where he has got to?" Svana herself didn't mind the party, though she didn't really see that her achievement was really all that amazing. Granted her youth was unusual, but not unique she was sure. Still, she was enjoying herself and hardly minded the attention. Her brother though... he was a much more restrained lion than Svana herself. Maybe he was simply trying to avoid the fuss? Shrugging she hoped he arrived soon, it was just that bit less fun with him missing..

Sensing the intent of someone close by Svana looked round just as Hypnotika approched them. Her wide, confident smile curling across her maw as the lioness, one whom she felt she recognised but couldn't quite recall her name, addressed her. "Thank you greatly." She replied with an easy and welcoming chuckle, her own voice just slightly husky, what one might call sensual, but which came from uttering her battle roars. Head tilting in curiosity Svana grinned again. "You have me at a disadvantage, you know who I am but I can't recall your name... " Looking expectantly at the red female Svana waited for an introduction. Known as a bold lioness it was clear she had no qualms about being herself in a social as well as a battle situation.

Svana certainly took a lot after her mother, he now saw, and was pleased that h had been able to attend the celebration and get to meet Lyti properly. After all Svana had told him all about her family during the time they had been training and raiding together.

Noticing her glancing at the growing crowd he grinned, getting back to his paws and offering her an affable dip of his head. "I should let you see to the party, I fear I have been monopolising your time." Smiling once more he nodded at the meat and mint set out. "I think I'm going to get this feast started, your spread looks amazing. I'll keep an eye out for Lucivar too, when he shows up. See what we can do about a few embarrassing stories." Crowds made him uncomfortable on the best of days, but when he had no real job to do it was far worse. Which led to him generally staying far away from large groups of lions unless forced to attend. Such as how his Captain had dragged him along this time.

However he couldn't help but glance at her between warily watching the crowd beyond the rock's protective darkness. She was... ethereal, beautiful and fragile and he caught himself wondering about her. Who was she, why did she seem so jittery. Her sudden question drew his full gaze back to her, the white stripe in his mane and the vivid green slash of colour across his nose and over his eyes almost ghost-like in the gloom that now surrounded them like a comforting blanket.

"I'm Røkkr." He replied, pronouncing it 'Rook', almost seeming to surprise himself with the words. Having had no idea how to answer her observation that did not consist of either gaping like a fool, or saying something dumb like 'she must be extra dark then'. He supposed his name was a good enough response after all.

Kizuka

Leading the way through the gathering she was forced to slow her match to a more normal walk, though the closeness of the gathering crowd did little to smooth her temper and only made her desire to lash out even stronger. Growling low in her throat and unable to stop the sound once she realised she was making it, she shouldered her way past a knot of gossiping reavers on her way to where the meat and mint had been left out. "Leave it there." She snapped back at her thrall as Kiso hurried along behind to keep up. "Keep the bag, we don't have a spare." She added in a short hiss even as she turned her back on the feast laid out in order to study the lions that had gathered near by. Swiftly she spotted Svana in a group of other young lions. Svana she knew because Ragnvard had pointed her out once, though Kizuka herself had never had a reason to speak to the young Captain. She knew that Svana's rise up the ranks had annoyed Ragnvard and for that reason alone she was willing to spare the red female the worst of her sharp tongue. At least for now.

Kiso

Hurrying along behind her Mistress, Kiso struggled with the sack, at first trying not to trip over it as she moved as fast as she could, considering the cloth that hung down infront of her paws, and then when she tried to empty it out, the fruit that was inside decided to roll out in all different directions, forcing Kiso to chase about after them, all while not actually stepping on the ripe fruit. She knew her Mistress would be upset if she squashed the offerings she had brought for the Mother of the two new Captains. Carefully corralling the fruit with her front paws she nudged and pushed them all into a neat pile beside the mint already on offer. After checking the sack was indeed empty she gathered it up in her mouth and, after several attempts, managed to toss it so it hung over her back, leaving her free to speak once more. Not that she did, her Mistress didn't appreciate idle chatter, so with her sack-cape precariously perched across her shoulders she obediently waited for Kizuka's next instruction.

Lyti
User ImageLyti smiled at Lennart, pleased that he had come to celebrate the success of her children and equally pleased that he seemed to be a lion who knew when it was appropriate to let a conversation come to an ending.

"I hope you enjoy yourself," she bid him. "There's plenty, so you needn't worry about overindulging."

After his departure Lyti allowed herself to be more obvious about surveying the party. It looked to be going well so far. Uneventful and bloodless, but that wasn't necessarily a terrible thing, all in all. In truth, she would rather the party was memorable for the two lions it honored, and not because somebody overdid it with the mint and tore somebody else's ear off or something like that.

Of course, there was every possibility it would be memorable because one of the captains being celebrated had yet to show up. Where was her son?

Tallskog
User Image"So let's not be seen," Tall suggested in a wicked tone that left little to no doubt how he thought they should be spending their time while hidden together.

He knew she was right, of course, but the fact of the matter was that he didn't particularly care. Being with her felt right, and not just because they had been a couple for so long. They understood each other and cared about each other, and there was a fierce attraction between them that he was certain didn't exist between Naaja and her husband.

"Naaja," he said in a softer tone full of emotions he would never admit aloud, lest he be labeled as flower-blooded for all time. "You know we were meant to be together. We were practically born to be together."

One day he would kill the warlord for what he had done to them. He didn't even care if the death came honorably or as the result of treachery. He just wanted to destroy him for the destruction he had wrought in Tall's life.

Naaja
User ImageNaaja couldn't help the expression on her face, somewhere between a grin that was in cahoots with Tall's wickedness and a smile that was charmed by his fierce devotion to her, even now.

"Tall," she said, her voice heavy with regret. "We can't. If someone sees us, you have no idea how bad it could be."

She imagined fights not only between her husband and the lion she wished to be with, but then between her family and the warlord, again. A conflict that would divide the pride as it had been in her youth, just before her father became warlord. Perhaps she was a little too full of herself, thinking that one failed marriage could have such a wide-reaching effect, but she had always thought highly of herself.

"I wish things were different," Naaja said truthfully, her voice breaking. "That we could be together. As you say, it was the future that was intended for us. But we have to accept the fact that it's no longer our future."
