Exactly on the same page as the minotaur, Clyde feared for the worst when it came to leaving Clarice to her own devices. After being let go and given the empty glass, the cop dumped his own before heading back to the house to make sure it was still there, Clyde felt it was necessary to run to the over walking at a brisk pace, just make sure he intercepted the ogre and her bad cooking habit. Perhaps if he was lucky, Dutch would have distracted Clarice long enough for him to reach her in time. About halfway to the house, Clyde stopped abruptly. Something felt off. He looked around, leering over his surroundings. The cop's eyes were most drawn to the wheat field and it's golden wavy luster. The long stalks of wheat standing tall in the wind as they always do. Clyde however, felt as though something was watching him from the field. The officer's attention was brought back to the present when he heard a dog bark and the sound of running feet. It was Dutch. The bloodhound came running to Clyde with his long flopping lips and jowls dancing up and down as he came. "What is it, boy?" Clyde asked, pretending the hound could understand him. Dutch only whimpered and shuffled his feet nervously before running back to the house. "That can not be good." Clyde then chased after until he reached the house and pushed his way into the kitchen. "Clarice." He called, waiting to hear a response come as he entered the kitchen, hoping not to find a burning frying pan of some alien food.

The whole time Clyde went out to find Dallas to give her the untouched glass of lemonade meant for her, Clarice was in the house with Dutch trying to prepare a hearty lunch for the trio. So far she managed to feed Dutch by pouring his dog food into his bowl and she brought the meat out of the refrigerator to make Sloppy Joes along with other ingredients she needed. After she tossed everything in a frying pan, she got distracted by a butterfly that flew into the room. She got so entranced by the butterfly that she did not lose track of it and began to play with it. Due to her lack of attention, the food in the frying pan caught on fire. The moment she started smelling smoke, which was little too late, she turned around to see the fire and immediately freaked out as she ran for the nearest cover: underneath the table. What is she suppose to do? She has no idea! During her moment of mass hysteria, Clyde came into house calling out her name. Despite her fear, she cried out the best she could.

"O-Officer! H-Help me!"

Instantly, the smell of smoke was present upon entering the kitchen. Clarice was cowering underneath the table. Not surprising. The officer made himself useful began doing damage assessment on the food. The food, whatever it was to begin with, was now little more than burning carbon with a terrible smell. Luckily, the fire was no more alarming in size than a burning marshmallow. Clean up would be easy. Cheering up Clarice wouldn't. Clyde calmly took out an oven mit to grab the handle of the frying pan full of burning meat and placed it underneath the kitchen sink with running water to quench the small burning fire. The fire and frying pan his in a screeching pain as the heat extinguished itself in a fine white steam. The rookie then began to open all of the windows to let out the smoke and clear the air before finding the ogre hiding underneath the table. Dutch accompanied his master and went under the table to lick Clarice's face. "Hey, Clarice. I took care of the fire. You can come out now." Clyde offered his hand to the ogre. "It looks like you were just overreacting."

Is it over? Did the fire go away? Clarice didn't know and she was much too frightened to get out from underneath the table. And the worst thing about it is she ruined today's lunch. She thought she could make sloppy joes for everyone since they were suppose to be easy to make. If only that butterfly didn't come inside the house...soon Dutch went under table once the fire was dealt and was licking her face, although she did not smile this time around. After a brief moment of petting Dutch's head, she saw Clyde's hand stretching out towards her as he told her its safe for her to come out and she was just overreacting. She didn't want to leave her spot from the table because she felt so embarrassed over what she did, so she did not take his hand and replied,

"But...But I tried my best...I-I swear I did...I...I just wanted to make lunch for the three of us...You and Dallas work hard every day...I...I just wanted to do something special for you two..."

After almost a year of living with Clarice, Clyde had developed a bit of a bad habit of easily forgiving the ogre. Sure, it was probably her fault letting the food burn, but know her, it couldn't really be helped. The hand Clyde had stretched out for the burger waitress turned and simply patted her on the head. "It's ok, Clarice. I know you were just trying to be helpful. I'll help you clean up before Dallas come in here. Now come out from under the table." The officer's hand turned back to it's previous gesture, waiting for the ogre to take it. The two now had to think of a replacement meal for the three of them to eat. What could they eat on such short notice, though? Clyde held his chin while tapping his foot in thought. It had to be something easy, but not ridiculously easy. Dallas and Clarice had bigger stomachs than Clyde, so a simple sandwich probably would suffice. In the past year, Clyde had spent his time learning how to cook on the side for occasions such as this. "I got an idea!" The rookie announced, looking to the ogre with a smile. "We still got that leftover curry. I'm going to heat that up and make some stir-fry. Clarice, could grab me some chicken breast veggies and also the rice bag from pantry? This shouldn't take too long." Clyde began grabbing pots and pans and getting ready.

Clyde...always so kind and forgiving of Clarice despite her screw-ups. She is so happy to have roommate like him who she can count on for being judgmental, which she did with Dallas but she is a bit harsh on her. Clyde is the type to forgive and move along quickly whereas ironically Dallas will make sure that justice is served. When offered his hand once more, this time she took his hand after wiping her away her tears, although she was careful not to get her horn stuck under the table nor harm his dog Dutch. Once she stood up, Clyde was already expressing his idea of what to do for lunch. He is going to heat up leftover curry and make stir-fry. All he needed for her to do was to get chicken breasts, veggies and the rice bag. A friendly smile formed on her face as she hugged him for a brief moment, although it didn't seem to bother her that his face ended up within her cleavage due to her lack of attention span before she released him and went back to the kitchen to gather all the items he requested from her as she said,

"O-Officer Clyde...t-thank you. L-Lets make this the best lunch the three of us ever had."

When the ogre finally took his hand, Clyde braced himself for what could possibly happen next. With Clarice, Murphy's Law was always a factor. As soon as the ogre started moving, Clyde's dog moved out of the way and the officer took a step back to avoid Clarice's horn. Before getting to work, Clyde was embraced in the ogress' giant bosom. His face almost submerged in Clarice's boobs. Despite this being a pervert's wet dream, it was suffocating. Death by smothering in giant jubbly breasts wouldn't be the worst way to go, but Clyde didn't think it was a dignified way either. Thankfully, he pulled out before the ogress could accidentally kill him.

Clarice then went to go get all of the items Clyde had asked for. While officer had hoped this would be a simple enough task for the ogre waitress, it probably wasn't going to be without it's complications for her. When she thanked him, CLyde thought back to when the actual best lunch he had ever had with two voluptuous girls was when they went to Linguini's. The rookie prepared for the worse in his own way by leaving the dangerous activities for last. The last thing Clyde wanted was to be stabbed or burned or anything inbetween.

To Clyde's surprise, Clarice didn't have an incident when it came to obtaining the ingredients he asked her to get. From the refrigerator she took out chicken breasts and veggies that are good to have in stews. And from the pantry, a big bag of rice. She set them all down on a massive table since she obtained a lot of ingredients for just three people, although Dallas and herself have huge appetites so a large amount of food is necessary just to keep the two of them fed. From there she didn't do anything else because she didn't want to mess things up for Clyde who was going to do something nice for the three of them. When she heard the front door open, she looked to see who came into the house and it was none other than a sweaty and slightly exhausted Dallas. A smile formed on the ogre's face as she said,

"You made it just in time Dallas! Clyde is making us lunch!"

Dallas anxiety grew worse with every minute as she was fixing the fence knowing that Clarice was left alone in the house and she had no choice but to have Clyde deal with the situation. He may be a good cop but he is still has to deal with an ogress whose height and strength tower over his and given her clumsy nature...oh she can only hope that her horn doesn't pierce him accidentally. Once the fence was fixed, she made her way back to the house as quick as she could and her anxiety went through the roof when she smelled something burning. When she opened the door, everything seem to be alright although the burning smell was still there. Maybe it was just a residual smell that will go away. Clarice seemed happy to see her but Dallas was not amused.

"Clarice...ya mind telling me why my house smells like its on fire?"

Despite anticipating the ogress to mess up somehow, Clyde was relieved to have her do as he asked correctly without any mishaps. Everything was in order and the rookie could get to work. "Ok. Now, I can get started." Clyde took a saucepan and poured the rice into it, along with water before putting on a spot on the oven, along with some of the chicken. While everything heated up, Clyde began chopping vegetables on the kitchen counter. It was about that time he heard the sound of hooves clopping. No doubt that was Dallas. The minotaur asked about the smell, Clyde felt the need to speak in Clarice's defense. "Unless house is somehow on fire, I don't think you have to worry." He joked with a dry wit. "Clarice was trying to make sloppy joes when some Clarice things happened and the meat caught fire. Nothing big. If you want what's left of the burnt carbon, it's in the trash. Mind you, it's soggy and wet." Clyde took the chopped lettuce stained butcher knife in his hand and pointed toward the trash can. "Hey Dallas?" The officer asked the farm head. "I forgot about it, but could you check the fridge for some teriyaki sauce or something? I also need the curry to heat up in the microwave. Would you mind doing that for me, please?"

Clarice knew that tone of voice and death stare she was getting from Dallas: it was that of a scolding mother. She felt bad because she wasn't acting clumsy or trying to start a fire in the house. It was that darn butterfly! Why did it have to flutter about the house and look so pretty?! Still it was her fault for not paying attention to the meat as it was cooking and now the house smells like a burnt carcass. What Clyde said to Dallas made her a feel a slight bit better, although for the sake of the next meal and not setting the house on fire, she walked out of the kitchen and sat down at the dining room table while he and Dallas were working on making lunch together.

""

There isn't a single day that Clarice has been to this house that Dallas doesn't get some kind of headache from one of her antics. How many times does she have to tell the girl that she can't cook unless someone else is in the kitchen with her? She could've burnt down her entire house and everything in it! However it was the safety of her friend that concerned her the most and since Clarice was okay, she could let it slide this time around. Meanwhile Clyde explained what happened here without getting too much into details of what happened and now is asking her to help him with whatever it is he is planning on making for lunch. Dallas can make decent grub but it was always nice to have someone else capable of making a meal other than herself to save her time and effort into doing it. After making a "tch" noise, she opened the refrigerator and took out the item he requested: teriyaki sauce. Since when was that in the refrigerator? Probably something Clarice or Clyde purchased. Handing the teriyaki sauce to Clyde, she also took out the leftover curry but instead of reheating it in a microwave, she took out a skillet and dumped the leftovers on the pan before placing it over the flames, mainly due to her incompetence in using a microwave.

"Ah. Don't. Like. Microwaves. Remember that...What exactly are ya up ta?"

As expected, it didn't take much for Dallas to scare off Clarice. Clyde felt bad for the poor ogress and her clumsy ways. Perhaps there was some kind of program she could join that would curb the occurrence of her mishaps. With Dallas now helping him, Clyde could focus more. Or he would if Dutch would stop bugging the rookie officer for a hand out. "Shoo! Go mooch somewhere else." He scolded, gently kicking the bloodhound away. Dutch then sauntered off and out of the kitchen to sit next to Clarice. At least she would give droopy pooch the time of day.

Meanwhile, Clyde continued to prepare the small family's lunch with the help of the hardworking minotaur. He took the syrupy sweet sauce that handed to him and added it to the mix. The oven was almost at full capacity for the pans in use. Clyde happened to chuckle when he was sternly reminded by Dallas of how she and the microwave didn't get along. "Ya know, in the year that I've been in Janhall, you're lucky the microwave isn't sentient, otherwise it might think you're racist. And I'm just making a backup lunch. Plus, we need to use that leftover curry anyway. I don't want to waste it." For some reason, Clyde was able to take most heat Dallas put him under. Perhaps after knowing her for long and seeing certain sides of her gave him some edge or perhaps it something else.

Clyde began mixing all the ingredients together now, making sure they all meshed with one another. The hot smell was starting to permeate and replace the rank odor of burnt meat in the air. The officer laughed to himself, think of how well everything was coming together. "Maybe I should take up up culinary classes and ditch being a cop." He joked, smiling as he scrambled the large frying pan. "Sure would be doing paperwork all day."

Dallas and Clyde working together in the kitchen...what a sight for Clarice. They just work so well together since neither of hardly ever mess up. If only she can be a little like them sometimes. Then she probably wouldn't make so many mistakes and cause Dallas many headaches. Clyde's dog Dutch approached her after he shushed her away. Once he was next to her, she pet the dog's head gently as she said to him,

"The kitchen is not a place for us Dutch."

Dallas made another "tch" noise when Clyde made the comment about her being racist toward microwaves if they ever became sentient. Of course if that was a thing that ever happened considering the town of Janhall can make just about everything possible, she won't mind taking an axe or sledgehammer and destroy every microwaves she sees. Seriously, who on earth uses a microwave? She never had one until Clarice came to live with her since that was the only thing she can use to cook her food without risking burning down the house. She tried using it and all that ended up doing was frustrate her when it refused to work properly, although Clyde probably remembers a particular fist going through the microwave and said microwave needed to be replaced. With the meal coming together, that burnt smell has almost gone away and in it's place, a delightful and hopefully delicious smell of curry, veggies and rice. A slightly friendly grin appeared on Dalla's face as she "gently" patted Clyde's back as she said to him,

"If ya learn how ta cook better, it make my life so much easier since ah never have to cook a meal ever again."

With lunch coming together nicely, Clyde's stomach yearned for something to eat. In due time, they could all feast on the fruits of their labor. The officer was even congratulated by the minotaur with a "pat" on the back before making a joke about Clyde being the house cook. "I don't think you should get your hopes up on that one." He replied, hoping to bring the bullish woman back to reality. As soon as everything was ready, Clyde got out the plates and dished everyone up on the dining room table. A heaping helping of curry stirfry for the too big ladies of the house and a moderately sized portion for the rookie officer himself. "Alright everyone. Dig in and let me know how it is."

Clyde took a bite himself, hoping it would taste good. The meal itself was good, but it made the man run for a glass of water. He had forgotten that the curry they had was the spicy kind. Next time the crew went out for curry, it would be the spicy kind. Clyde would make sure of that.

Clarice kept Dutch company until the food was ready. She can already see her big portion coming her way and her stomach grew excited. It definitely smelled good so it ought to taste good too! Looking at Dalla's portion for a moment told her that she has a slightly bigger portion. Well she has to have the bigger meal since she worked so much today and her day of work is not even over. She has to handle the shop afterward and Dallas isn't much of a people's person. Maybe Clyde will help her out today. As she took her first bite, her mouth fell in love with the food. It was absolutely delicious! Much better than anything she could have made.

"This taste awesome! The two of you are a great team in the kitchen!"

If only Clyde can take over the cooking in the house by taking cooking classe and give up being a police officer. Right now his skill level is nowhere on par with that of the owner of Linguini's but he can learn from her if he has the desire to do so. Oh well. Its not like she doesn't enjoy cooking, it just gets exhausting having to do it day after day since Clarice can't cook and Clyde has long hours at his job. Finally through their efforts in the kitchen, the meal is complete and all the food was taken to the table, Dallas having the largest portion of the three. She was the last one of the three to take a bite, and after swallowing it she said,

"Not bad fer leftovers."

Clyde returned to the table with a glass of water. The girls seemed to be enjoying the meal. The measurements of praise were differing between the two ladies, each respectively expressing through their own personality. Clarice was very open with her delight, whereas Dallas was reserved and mitigating how good the dish actually tasted. In Clyde's mind, he was probably exceeding the minotaur's expectations as far as cooking went. Nevertheless, they all enjoyed the meal made of leftovers.

The rookie officer eventually finished his meal. The spices burning in and around his mouth, making his lips glow slightly from the heat. He was also the only one to go back and forth between the dining room and the kitchen to get more water and even napkins and tissues. His nose ran like a waterfall and was in constant need of maintaining. At least the girls enjoyed it. When everyone was done, Clyde took everyone's dishes to the kitchen for cleaning. Dutch, the bloodhound, followed after the off duty officer, hoping to mooch off some of the scraps left clinging to the plates.
