Nell zipped her lips and Anya put her index finger over her own. Oh yes, she liked this one.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you but honestly, did you really think I of all people would be all business?!" Zeke waggled his brows and winked. "I mean I could break out the spreadsheets and the overhead projector but that's all the way up there and it's a pain in the a** to lug down." He waved in the vicinity of the stairs that led to the second floor airily. Anya once more shook her head.

"Give him an inch and he'll take the whole mile." She did sound amused, that being said. Her tone made her Guardian beam all the more, nodding eagerly. "Although if anyone is no-nonsense and business, that'd be Brad."

"No! Not all the time!" Zeke quickly corrected, bouncing now and now holding his own finger to his lips when he looked at his Frei. "And even if he was, he's not here right now so I think we can get away with everything we're doing."

"We'd get away with everything even if he was here."

Zeke dissolved into laughter again.

"I think that's what some people call 'perks'?" She looked at Nell and shrugged, but took on a look of surprise when the woman directed her question toward her. "Oh. Uh...I guess I could help with that, sure." The Widow furrowed her brow. Now that she was put on the spot it was as if everything she could have had in mind suddenly left her. "Well...I guess it's safe to say you already have a bedroom set up for them. That's important. Everyone needs space, you know?"

She oh so subtly jerked her thumb at Zeke and gave Nell a wide roll of her eyes, which ended with her nodding toward the hall just off the living room. If Nell wanted to see her quarters, well, Anya wouldn't say no.

"Decorations are important but that's also kind of something you'd probably want to wait for. Their tastes might be different than what you think." She was thinking back to when she was a newborn, first coming home with Zeke to the tiny little apartment he had lived in before moving in with Brad. It felt like forever ago. "Oh! Zeke had a bunch of necessities prepared for me before I came home. A hairbrush, toothbrush, bedspread, that sort of thing. He left it out on the bed for me and went over each thing after I got used to the apartment we lived in."

"Well if there's going to be spreadsheets and a projector I would have come more prepared!" She said with a laugh. Which, considering the reason she was coming by, was a fitting thing for her to say. She opened her mouth to add another comment, but shut it just as quickly a moment later. An amused smile turned up the corners of her mouth as she glanced between the two as they bantered back and forth. Clearly, despite Anya's apparent exasperation at her guardian, there was a good deal of affection between them.

"Yeah, I guess that's what's bothering me so much, their space just looks so...empty? Seems like I don't care enough to put much thought into it, you know?" Her nose wrinkled as she thought of the bedroom she had set up, perfectly serviceable but about as welcoming (in her mind) as a hotel room. A nice place to stay, for sure, but definitely not somewhere to spend an extended period of time in. She did take note of the way Zeke had introduced her to the essentials (though the hairbrush, she would find out later, would be something of a lost cause).

"Sorry, I know this all sounds like basic stuff, but it still doesn't really feel like it's happening," Her laugh this time sounded a bit forced, some of er worry becoming a bit more obvious despite her trying to hide it.

"Think of it this way - it'll only be that way for a little while." Anya spoke easily from experience, wise beyond her years when it came to bedroom decorating. "You might think it looks empty but when you're a newborn, everything is shiny and new and even a room with nothing in it is a wonder."

She shifted in her seat to face Nell better now that Zeke was slightly in the way.

"They won't fault you for a room lacking in decor. A bed, bureau, light, fan...that will suffice to start. Soon enough you'll be going out with them and they'll be finding all sorts of things to decorate with! It won't be empty for long after they come home, trust me."

While Anya and Nell conversed Zeke sat in relative silence, eyes flicking between the women as he partially hid his smile between sips off his drink. The crinkling at the corners of his eyes could not be hidden however and even with the glass in the way he looked pleased as punch at the proceedings. When their guest mentioned that certain feeling he couldn't help but not pipe up.

"Oh believe me, it's happening! Maybe sooner than you think!" He waggled his brows at Nell although in truth he couldn't say for sure. Raevans were odd creatures with no set gestation period like humans and other creatures. It wouldn't be out of the ballpark to say Nell's Frei could be here tomorrow but it was also as likely they wouldn't show up for another month or so. Perhaps longer. He sincerely hoped not but who knew for sure?

"Anya is right though; a sparse bedroom is hardly something to worry about. It'll fill in nicely in due time. It wasn't long before Anya had a bunch of things decorating her room and now she has even more! Heck, she has so much stuff we gave her two rooms to fit it all in!"

He was laughing and Anya regarded him with a look of what seemed to be amusement, but she had to agree. It was true after all, somewhat.

"One room is my work space, actually. I do a lot of craftwork," she gestured to the project she had been working on and then to the rooms just off the one they all sat in, "and my bedroom can't fit everything in there. Well...not without turning it into an obstacle course that is. So yes...two rooms for me."

"I will say though, when he or she does come home it's best to let them roam as much as they want. Let them get used to your place at their own pace; all doors unlocked, nothing off limits within reason. I'd even say 'prepare for a bunch of questions' but not every Raevan is talkative right out of the gate. Anya here sure wasn't!"

"I shouldn't really be complaining, I haven't even finished unpacking all of my stuff yet," she admitted with a sigh. Not the best example to set she supposed, though she should use this as an excuse to get that all finished if nothing else. She hummed thoughtfully as Anya spoke, trying to envision a tastefully decorated room, unaware of the very much not tastefully decorated space that she will have to face in the near future.

However, before she could say anything else she heard Zeke's comment and she turned slowly in her seat to face him, a wide smile growing on her face. "Sooner than I think? You don't say." She would have to get a bit more information as far as that was concerned out of him before she left.

"Hah, hopefully they don't get into too many crafts, then, or we'll have to find a bigger place to live." And that would mean giving up the nice beachfront property which would just be a shame.

The pair didn't seem at all bothered by Nell's reveal about the state of her move.

"Unpacking is a chore," Anya said with a nod.

"You'll get there. Heck, if you need a hand, I'm more than happy to lend one! It's much easier to get everything out and sorted and arranged if you have another person there!"

He could have gone on about how when they moved it had been himself, Anya, and his boyfriend which made things TRIPLE-Y easier but he stopped himself when Nell smiled and said those oh so playful words. In response to them the vet gave a wink, his smile turning just a little sly.

"I do say~ In fact, I'm more than happy to tell you your Frei is a fully developed Raevan as we speak!" He stood to dig out his phone then swipe through his photos to find the ones he had taken of Nell's soon-to-be ward. When he found the best one he had taken, he passed the phone off to her, pointing at the dark shape in the middle of the illuminated tube.

"Head, arms, ribbon, wings...Everything is there! Sorry the photo is so bad but no matter what angle I stand at it's hard to get any details at all. Water's too murky and the lighting being underneath inside doesn't help either."

To his side Anya craned her head to see the photo before Zeke passed it off. Details were lost in the gloom - whether this one was to be a boy or girl wasn't apparent. They seemed to have antlers? Or perhaps that was just some hair suspended in the fluid that looked like antlers. Either way, their wings seemed to match, branch-like and many.

"There's always room for crafts, but Zeke was talking about taking me to a craft fair soon. He said there's people out there who sell what they make and that...sounds kind of interesting to me." Making some spending money for herself via selling what she made to people who really liked and wanted it? Sounded pretty nice to her.

"Might have to take you up on that offer, I was using the spare room for storage so I need to...figure out where to put it..." She hadn't really been expecting to have a second person join her so soon after moving, or else she might have looked for a place with more rooms. But it wouldn't be good if she was caught in the middle of moving when her raevan was ready either, so finish unpacking was really the only practical choice.

She inhaled sharply through her nose as Zeke passed over the phone, her eyes widening as she looked at the picture. After a moment she turned the phone a bit so Anya could see better, but her gaze remained focused on the screen, trying to absorb as much information from the blurry photo as she could. "Does...this mean that they're almost ready to be born?" She hoped so, at least.

Almost regrettably she tore her attention from the phone and back to Anya, passing it back to Zeke (though she did quietly ask if he wouldn't mind sending her the photo first). "Ooh, that would be fun. Were you thinking of setting up a stall there? I'm sure there's a ton of people who'd be looking for stuff like that," she said, gesturing to the embroidery she had been doing earlier.

Nell had his number and every ounce of his seemingly limitless energy when it came to that topic. He needn't say much more, especially not when their guest took his phone and turned the topic over to what she was looking at. Zeke gave her a wink when she passed his phone back over, firing the photo off in a text with well-practiced speed.

"It's entirely possible!" He hoped that didn't dash her excitement and tried to keep that from happening with his light tone and bouncy movements as he turned to face her fully and give her a proper explanation. "Raevans are pretty unpredictable at times, even before they're born. Some Freis will grow really fast in the tank and then suddenly take awhile before they are ready to come out. Others grow slowly but then hey what do you know! It's like they burst out saying "I'M HERE" without much warning!"

This one had been rather middle ground in his humble opinion. Their development had been steady but with that came the question: would they be here tomorrow or would it be another couple months from now? This one was quite the enigma!

When Nell showed her the photo Anya looked at it with polite regard. Truth be told she had seen lit Raevan tanks before and the various stages a growing Frei went through within them, so this was kind of old hat for her at this point, even if she hadn't floated into the building in a long, long time. It was nice to see Nell excited about it, however. She was a nice person; a Raevan would be in good hands with her.

"Oh, no. Not yet anyway. I wouldn't know where to begin! This would just be sort of like..." She trailed off, trying to find the word.

"Scouting?"

"Yes. Scouting. Just seeing what it's all about and what people do there and such." Opening a stall of her own was a strong 'maybe' right now and even then only after she experienced the fair for herself. She had to get all the information first rather than leap blindly into it. "But we'll cross that bridge when we get there."

The Widow looked at her embroidery for a moment, wondering if it was something she could make money from. She wouldn't turn her nose up at extra cash in her wallet but she couldn't help but feel a little nervous about her prospects. But again, bridges. Crossing. There were more important things to discuss with their guest.

"I am curious though...Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?"

"I guess that's one of the benefits of actually having a kid, you're pretty much guaranteed a date." Not that that was necessarily an option for her, but having something resembling a time frame was a nice thought anyway. But. Soonish. At least. That was something, right?

"Well! If you do let me know, I could always use some more decorations around the place," she said, giving Anya a small wink. If nothing else, it seemed as if she would have a large community who would be willing to support her if she decided to sell her goods.

"Oooh, I don't know, honestly I've been trying to not think about it too much so I don't get my hopes attached to one or the other. Though just from my experience with taking care of kids, hmmm." She tapped her chin with a finger as she thought before grinning. "A girl. Much less trouble, right Zeke?"

"Well more or less, yes. Sometimes human babies can be unpredictable too you know!" Some babies came early, others liked to stay in until they were made to come out. Zeke had never heard of Lab having to induce a Frei's birth before but it made him wonder where the good doctor would draw the line. A couple Raevans had taken over a year to finally come out of their tanks but even with that time taken Kyou hadn't seemed at all worried. Something to ask him about later for sure.

"Oh, well, if there's something you'd like..." Anastacia trailed off, looking around her as if she had something more complete to show to the other woman. It was the product of a little surprise that Nell was wanting something of hers and, finding her so agreeable, Anya felt she wanted to fulfill the other woman's desire for something made by her. Of course she had nothing here other than the one thing. "I can make just about anything, even if it's not embroidered. Blankets, scarves, gloves, clothing in general...you name it. Although I might need some time depending on the thing. I might be fast but some things just need a little longer, you understand."

She gave a vague wave of her hand. Surely Nell would know as another smart woman to another. Still, the offering was put out there and that's what mattered.

Zeke listened with a smile, winking at Nell most secretively at that after Anya finished speaking.

"Oh I dunno about that! I won't say Anya's a troublemaker buuuuut..." He tittered as his Frei gave him a squinted look, pouting her bottom lip out at him and looking a little ruffled to boot. "I'm kidding! You're far from awful, trust me!" He looked at Nell. "She's a good kid, honest."

"Girls are nice." She could count the number of girls she had met on both hands sure but the boy Raevans seemed to be double that. Take a look at any Lab get together and it was plain to see. She wondered why that was. "Although boys aren't bad either. Many of them are nice enough but sometimes it feels like we're few and far between to me at the Lab. Another girl in the fold would be lovely." She inclined her head then, tilting it just a little toward her Guardian with her eyes on Nell all the while. "And yes, much less trouble."

"Hmmm, maybe something I can hang up on the wall?" She outlined a small square-ish shame with her fingers in the air, followed by a small shrug. "I'm a bit rough on my things, I'd hate to see all your hard work go to waste!" Plus it would fill up some of the large amount of blank space that she was itching to fill.

Nell scoffed along with Anya's disgruntled look, waving a hand at Zeke as if to brush away his words. "It's obvious which one of you two is the troublemaker here, Zeke." The hand furthest away from the man pointed at him a few times, purely for Anya's sake.

"Well, that's one vote for a girl, at least! Maybe I should start taking bets on the outcome!" She hadn't noticed the disparity of gender before in the raevans, granted she hadn't been around large gatherings of them often enough to notice, but it was an interesting tidbit of information regardless. Maybe there would be a higher chance of a boy, all things considered.
