Aseara didn’t think she was much of a leader. Sure she’d taken on the responsibilities while Afsana was away, did that make her a leader? She had no idea, but she herself did not feel like one. But the question was what made someone a leader? What qualities did they have and did Aseara have them? “Nuri, you’re in the military, what makes your leaders… Good at leading?” Perhaps if he shared what qualities they had Aseara could try and mimic them, at least it was worth a try. It was better than standing around and doing nothing, but Aseara still wasn’t sure.
Nuri made a good point and one she would keep in mind.
“That is true, but Afsana has money and she does have the undying loyalty of some of the people here or even the merchants and nobles. A lot of the girls here had nothing before they came to the Red Amaryllis and Afsana gave them the world. I do not know if I can offer them the same or at least enough for them to come over to my side. It is a tricky situation and one I must carefully plan.” It would not be an easy journey.
“I guess I must start somewhere… I just need to figure everything out.” She said softly. “I just wish I had more direction you know?”

He was thoughtful at her question, trying to remember the leaders he met. There were the actual leaders, and the ones of groups that were more like Afsana.
"A good leader is someone you can trust. One who understands your needs and is willing to walk the same path as you. A good leader respects your needs but trusts in your ability, and is patient and understanding. A good leader is the first one to make sacrifices and the last one to leave the training field. They go above and beyond to lead, protect, and follow..."
He paused to listen, and nodded thoughtfully.
"Even Afsana started off as no one. No one is born into gold and with the ability to lead...even with my own status, I was forced to train night and day and to fight to get what I want. Aseara, if you want to be a leader, you must learn to gain the trust of those around you. Maybe to prove to others the leader you are, the first step is to start with the Yaeli" He held up a finger and laughed at himself, "...I've met the Yaeli. They do not trust us. I can't imagine how it must be for her to be dragged from her home and placed into a new setting...but maybe you can."
"A great leader isn't born, they fight and understand the struggle of those around them. Maybe this is a blessing...for you to no longer hide under Afsana's illusions. Maybe that Yaeli is the perfect companion for you to begin to build your own family..."

That all sounded very hard, but there were things that Nuri had said that Aseara had always done. She’d protected those in the RA who had needed it, sheltering them whenever it was needed. She’d also trained as hard as any of them, but she was still lacking in a few departments. If she wanted to become this leader, she was going to have to work things out and make sure she was a leader. A plan was beginning to form in her mind now all she needed to do was act on it and make it happen.
“I still don’t know Nuri…” How did she mend things with Itotia? Perhaps Nuri did have a point, but that didn’t mean Aseara knew how to go about it. Aseara was thoughtful for a moment, perhaps… Maybe… Aseara chuckled. “You’ve been loads a lot of help.” Aseara leaned forward and gave him a kiss. “I think I know what I have to do, or at least I know where I have to start.” She nodded with finality. “I do need to get back to work though, and you’ll need to leave through a quiet exit. I’ll try and see if I can see you more often before you leave.”

"Well, you've got me on your side, and I do have a few connections through my father..." he reassured, "I'm sure you have more than enough connections to make a beginning..." He didn't say it but he too understood her biggest challenge would be an internal battle.
As she spoke of work, Nuri quickly nodded and moved to stand. He hesitated again before leaning in for one last kiss, pulling back with a smile.
"Count on me taking advantage of any time you can spare..." he whispered before moving to the door. Itotia was there, glaring with her glowing eyes before ushering him to go. Apparently the coast was clear and he could make a silent escape. With one last look back at Aseara, and a promise to return soon, Nuri rushed away while he had the chance...there was a lot he needed to consider and Aseara was his top priority for his time off.

“Yes I do supposed I`m not alone in this fight, I just have to find the will to actually do the fighting.” That was probably the hardest part for Aseara, putting up a fight worth a damn. She would keep his words in council, though she doubted how far his father’s connection would work for her. She wasn’t Oban it was a tricky situation but she would take any help that he offered her.
“Of course,” she said quickly and going to the door to see Nuri off. They had a long road ahead, but it was going to be worth it in the end. Aseara glanced over at Itotia, thanked her and then quickly left back to her room. Perhaps putting her ideas on paper would help.
