Caedus laughed softly, but shook his head. Her description was kind, and he seemed amused with it but he let out a wistful sigh when she asked about his homeworld. He had a distant look in his eyes—an almost foggy, far off look.

"…Yes. We had a world before ours. But that world was…"

He seemed grim.

"Not ideal. It was a difficult procedure to construct a new world. A true world. We had no land to call our own, so we made it. From scraps. It was a fluke that we survived. But we did. And we improved that world. We crashed, a few times. In the beginning. Into other worlds. But it was a learning procedure. We found new materials. Better materials. We improved."

"Were those other worlds... occupied?" Sabine asked with some amount of gruesome curiosity. Granted, accidents happened, but still. "It sounds very dangerous, making a world of your own." She said quietly. "You and your must have really needed it."

"When... When you return home, would it be possible for us to visit your world?" She asked softly. "I would very much love to see an artificial world. It just sounds so amazing."

She had heard of such things in books - but never in reality.

"Oh, yes. I was surprised to hear that other worlds were faded," he admitted. "Many of the worlds I visited were full of life. I am can only hope they have not befallen such a state. Our world…"

He was quiet, for a long moment, as if calculating just what he wanted to say. "…Our world was necessary. We needed a space that was our own. We expected failure, but it was better than the alternative. I am happy with the world we made," he said, and a bit of pride even seemed to shine in his eyes. Fatigue drowned it out soon after.

"I cannot promise anything of my world, but we are reluctant to bring strangers. I would try to make an exception for those that have helped me. But even if not, I would try to return to you. I would tell you all of it. How much they have advanced," he said, sighing wistfully.

Sabine nodded slowly as she listened, completely enraptured by the story. Something confused her though. There was something in the choice of words that Caedus used struck her as odd.

"Before... your synthetic world... did you... share your planet with another people, Sir Caedus?" Curiosity was getting the best of her, she was prying deeply - perhaps too deeply this early on in their friendship. But, if there was even a sliver of a chance she might never see him again... She wanted to learn all about him that she could. About his people. His world.

"You said you needed your own space? Were you sharing the space before? I'm sorry if I'm being nosy... I just want to learn as much about my friend as I can... I really hope you can convince your people to let us visit, but if you cannot, then I respect that. I would love to see your world, but most of all..."

She hadn't realized she'd been tearing up until she felt the first warm tear trickle down her cheek. "I... I want to see you again, Sir Caedus. You're so kind and noble. I... I will be very sad when you go home..." She said, reaching up to wipe the tears out of her eyes with the back of her gloved hands.

"You're a very cherished friend to me Sir Caedus, even though I have not known you long, I feel as if I have known you for far longer." She added with a small smile once she lowered her hand. "So, I hope you do return, and tell me everything you saw." She said with a nod of her head. "And we can have another tea party then."

She would like that.

Caedus seemed moved by her emotions—and the fact that she so readily labeled him friend. He released a slow, calm breath and nodded. "I should like that very much. I will miss Earth. This side of it, at least. Not the Rift. Not the Negaverse, or the youma. But the ones like you." He nodded once more. "I shall miss this. If I am welcome, I would like very much to return. I confess," he glanced to the skyline once more. "I am eager to learn about how far Earth has come. I should like to return to talk more. When my voice is better."

He reached a hand up to massage his throat and laughed, a weak, harsh sounding little thing. "I sound awful. I do not know how you can bear to listen, but I am grateful that you do. I have much history that I could tell you, but I do not do it justice. Though, you are…"

He did not seem to want to say it, but he forced himself to address the topic he had specifically avoided. "…Correct to assume that the original planet was shared."

Sabine placed a hand on her chest as she spoke. "I don't mind your voice at all, Sir Caedus, I think it's perfectly fine, rugged even!" She said with a small smile. She honestly did not mind his voice - though she did worry that it might give out if she pressed him for too long. Still, he had such an amazing history she didn't want to stop asking questions.

"If you are growing tired, or... If I am delving into things you'd rather not talk about, then I can change the subject?" She said with nod. "Or if you need me to go..."

She'd rather stay, but if Caedus needed to rest then she would take her leave - she didn't want to impose. "I don't want to impose." She said with a slight blush. "Though I am curious who these people who shared your world were like. They must have been terrible neighbors if you decided to make a planet of your very own instead!"

But she would leave it at that, she thought, if he did not wish to speak more of it.

He shook his head. "I would not ask you to leave. My voice will heal. If you can bear to hear it, I can bear to speak."

But, he was stalling for time, and cleared his throat with a bit more emphasis than he needed. He was silent as he readjusted himself, and did everything he could to waste time. Finally, he was making even himself uncomfortable, and he spoke, "I do not know what to say of them. There were terrible, yes."

He did not know what else to say, but softly added, "I hope you never meet them."

Sabine nodded, more than happy at not being sent away. She rather liked Caedus' company and she did not mind his voice at all, as bad as he thought it sounded. "Your voice is fine, Sir Caedus, I do not mind it at all." She said with a small smile as she leaned forward a bit.

"From the sounds of it, I would hope I never do either." She said, with a small nod to Cadeus. "And if it is a subject that you do not wish to speak about, do let me know... I want to learn everything I can about you Sir Caedus. Your people and your homeworld are all so interesting, Earth must seem like such a boring backwards place in comparison."

She certainly felt that way, such wonders out among the stars, and Earth was barely able to go a decade without war.

"On the contrary," Caedus said, sounding surprised, "I have always been fond of Earth. Though, my time in the Rift has affected my affection for it. I must remember that the two are not technically the same. The Rift is a terrible place. But Earth, unattached from that prison, is wonderful. You do not understand how much I pine for it. I wish to see everything. I have read books, offered by your allies. Humans are capable of weaving such wonderful stories. I enjoy being lost in them. Your art is beautiful. Our only art is in architecture and science. And sometimes crystal carving, but we only carve them for functionality. Your clothes are interesting. And your food."

He let out a wistful sigh. "No, Earth…is wonderful. It is filled with such life. You have so many plants, and animals. I saw a squirrel today."

Caedus sounded excited and jumped into the topic. "I wished to examine it up close, but it was too fast. I think I scared it, but it let me observe from a distance. I supposed I can see why humans may wish to keep pets. It was…entertaining. The entire time it was there, I forgot that I was alone."

Sabine couldn't help but smile as she listened to Caedus, he was so invested and interested in their world. When he spoke about the squirrel, she giggled a bit, before placing a hand in front of her mouth to stifle it a tad. "Yes, Sir Caedus, animals often give us many hours of companionship. I have never owned a pet myself, but they are amazing." One day she'd have a space of her own and could have a pet, but as it stood, there was nobody at home long enough to care for one currently.

"And yes, squirrels are very skittish by nature, so it would not like being too close to anyone, but if you can get your hands on some of our snack food... you might be able to lure it close enough to feed." She said with a small smile.

"Though, I am glad to hear you like our world so much, Sir Caedus." She bowed her head. "Is there anything else you'd like to know about our world?" He said he'd gotten books, but she wondered what kind.

Caedus seemed amused when she laughed at him; his eyes went to her and seemed to soften beneath the shadows of his hood. He laughed softly, himself.

"Everything," he confessed. "I have a thirst for knowledge. And I do not know when I will return to Earth after I go home. But I do hope it is soon. After I have recovered, I should like to explore a bit. That is, if your allies do not decide to drive me away."

He seemed a bit amused, though a bit disheartened all the same.

"Some of them are not very fond of me. I do not wish to anger them."

Sabine was quite thrilled with Caedus' confession that he wanted to learn everything he could about the Earth. Sabine was happy to supply him with any information she could. It was so nice to be able to talk to someone so openly. Caedus was so kind, so thoughtful. At hearing that some of her "allies" seemed intent on driving Caedus away. Even more when he said they were not fond of him.

"Well anyone who doesn't like you is a close-minded fool. You're a kind and noble soul, Sir Caedus." Sabine said, placing a hand on her chest as she spoke. "I will not let anyone drive you from this planet. You have a friend in me, and I will always stand by and protect my friends. I can't abide bullies. That is exactly what they are being, bullies."

Her cheeks had started to puff up from her anger, and she let out a small huff. "You are a guest of our world and there are certains protections you are afforded as such. You will always have my help, Sir Caedus, no matter what."

Caedus laughed softly and nodded. "Then I think you are the kinder and nobler soul. You have taken on an incredibly burden to play such a good host to me. I am indebted to the time and effort you have taken to make me comfortable. I truly appreciate it," he said, and seemed to speak in earnest.

"If there is anything I can ever do for you, I hope you will ask it of me."

Sabine smiled softly and bowed her head to Caedus as he spoke. "You think far too highly of me, Sir Caedus, I am only doing what any civilized person would." Still, she felt almost giddy from the compliment, from such a noble and impressive guest no less. Still... "I will keep that in mind, sir, but I doubt that there is much I could ask of you that you would not find frivolous."

With that, she pulled out her phone and winced at the time. She could not remain too much longer, but still, she reached into the basket, and pulled out a few more tins of cookies, and made sure that the basket was empty.

"Here, since you enjoyed the other cookies so much, I would really love it if you enjoyed these as well." All told, Sabine left about 5 tins of cookies in Caedus' care. "And keep the blanket as well." She said with a nod. "I have many more like it so I won't miss it."

Picking up the basket, she slowly got to her feet, dusting off her fuku and giving Caedus another curtsey. "But, unfortunately, I must go. I have homework and other things I must work on before it gets too much later. Double lives are not easy, sadly."

Caedus blinked; he reached out and took the tins after a second of hesitation—and while his face was unreadable, there was gratitude in his posture. He bowed his head to her and laughed softly. "You are too kind. I appreciate them, and I will take my time to enjoy them. Thank you for your company, and your gifts. I wish you well. Be safe."
