Oh good. Nadiya was relieved to see that the youngling was paying attention. It was adorable to watch the younger girl concentration as she fiddled with the flute, "You almost have it, just here.." Reaching out she gently took the girl's hands and tilted her wrist just a bit more while stretching her fingers out across the holes.
"You want to have just the tips of your fingers on the holes since it makes it easier to move quickly." Just enough pressure and just enough reach...that was key to getting a good balance. Nadiya smiled towards Ondine, "So far so good though. I'm impressed!"
Pursing her lips Nadiya blew and a light whistle escaped, "Can you try doing that now?"

Ondine let the girl touch her hands, getting distracted at how different their hands were in color. It reminded her of her mother, and how the matori would brush her hands and face and the blue would mix with her own white or black. It was distracting enough, but Ondine was able to catch herself as her hands settled into the holes and stretched out a bit more.
"This is tiring!" she said in a dramatic whine, before grinning to herself, before she laughed as Nadiya took the flute and blew.
Taking it for herself, she carefully pursed her lips, took a breath through her nose and blew.
A strange whistling came out, not a sound but clearly air, and Ondine dropped the flute from her lips to let out a painful grimace, "That didn't sound like when you did it!"

Nadiya laughed at the sudden whine, "Is it?" Her gaze obviously was glittering with a playful energy, "Perhaps I'll play you an energizing piece after this then~" She should have time for one last melody before having to head home herself. A bit of her earlier worry did resurface, however, and the girl had to pause to ponder about exactly where this little one was going after their short lesson.
Grinning Nadiya shook her head, "It's not going to sound that way on the first try." She held a finger up towards Ondine, "You have to blow across the opening and not into it." The girl frowned thoughtfully, "Only have of your breath should go into the flute while the rest dances across the surface and into the air."
"Also!" Nadiya pursed her lips, "Remember to keep your mouth like this while you blow. Almost like you just spat out a seed or something. Try one more time~ Or even a few if you need."

Ondine nodded with determination, and also grinned at the promise of music. But she focused back on the tips, and adjusted herself with how she was blowing into the flute. Tentatively, she blew across the opening as suggested, and adjusted her lips at the last second as Nadiya continued to coach.
When the soft sound of music came out of the flute, Ondine nearly dropped the flute in surprise, before laughing loudly and handing the flute back so she wouldn't drop it in her excitement.
"I did it! I did it!" Her laughter filled the area, before she looked looked at Nadiya, "Now you have to pla-"
A shout was heard, as a Matori woman stood over the crest of the dunes and waved down to Ondine. The little girl looked nervous for a second, before glancing down at her now full-white form. It was time for curfew, an agreement that when she finally shifted she was meant to head home.
"I need to go Nadiya...it's time for bed..."
Her whine was soft, as she took a few steps back, "Thank you for teaching me to play, I hope to hear you again soon!"
Her eyes, bright and warm, and her smile shining, she waited for Nadiya's response before turning and rushing up the dunes toward her mother. Oh, what a night indeed.

"You did! Congrats!" Nadiya laughed at the excitement of the child. She truly was happy to have been able to teach. Perhaps that was the feeling the bard had all those years ago? Nadiya flushed at the thought. Maybe...
Oh? Blinking Nadiya glanced towards the figure. "I suppose that's your mother then." She was sad to say goodbye, but thankful that she didn't have to worry about the little one staying out on her own. "You're welcome. Thanks for being a great student! Good night, Ondine~"
"I'll be around no worries." Nadiya smiled and waved as the girl rushed away. Still as an afterthought she raised the flute to her lips and played a tune that would trial after Ondine and follow her own footsteps as she too headed towards home.
