  Her head tilted ever so slightly. Brown bangs swaying to the side at the mention of 'Karen' for a meal. Nwa's explanation of the dish was vague enough to make anyone question it. "Karen...." Harper was not one to speedily rush at assumptions whenever any rumor of another witch floating about the academy. Airing on the side of caution, whether rumors rang true or not, was the best move in any case. Nwa's humming caught the attention of surrounding witches, brave enough to take they eyes off the professor. Some blushed towards Nwa in turn others scowled. A mixed reputation amongst the masses. Harper personally didn't want to judge any book by its cover. The only way she'd be able to find out anything substantial behind the allegations meant that she'd have to actually get to know Nwa on more than an acquaintance level. "I look forward to seeing you perform, we still have several months left to prepare..." Harper's gaze turned towards the professor who singled them out. Harper slowly swiveled in her chair, adjusting herself to face the front of the classroom. Her fingers hovered over a notebook she designated for this class when a shrill scream echoed from outside. The professor clicked off the projection and sprinted towards the large panel windows of the fortress. Other witches raised themselves from their seats and followed in suit. 「 ╳❜⊰ OOC」: dun dun dun

 Nwa Brea Nwa kept a watchful eye on the girl beside her when she saw the young adults lips move the echo of Nwa's dish being breathed quietly. Nwa's eyes narrowed just a bit in wander, she wanted to see if Harper would question it further, if she would slowly start to piece together some of the things that she had heard, the dire rumors that surrounded Nwa. But Harper didn't seem too, or at least not verbally, shame really. Nwa wanted to see the response. Sighing Nwa turned to look around the class, noting that she had become the center of attention for a moment, the blushing and glaring gazes of her classmates unabashedly meeting her own nonchalance. She smiled in her most friendly manor at her onlookers and gave a wave of her clawed hand, that seemed to do it for them, because they kept their eyes to themselves from that point on.
Back to Harper, she too seemed to have recovered from her moment, no longer hung up on the dish that Nwa had brought up, instead she moved on smoothly into Nwa's possibility of performing, the pale girl shrugged. "With you looking forward to it, I just might have to participate now." Nwa joked. But it seemed the fun times were over and that they couldn't keep ignoring the professors lecturing....well Nwa could if she really wanted to, which she did. A task made much easier by the scream that echoed through the halls. Everyone rushed outside shortly after leaving Nwa to sit at her desk, only her and Harper left in the classroom for a few moments after, raising a clawed finger to her crown of thrones, rubbing metal on metal thoughtfully. She didn't like surprises, hated the unexpected, she knew that this incident wasn't her doing, and that carried a certain risk to her personally. Shaking her head, Nwa stood offering Harper a shrug as she moved to join her classmates outside.

(Sorry, sorry, wanted to post but life has been hectic. Hopefully it's not too late? Also, I'll make this fancier later.)
Avery had been on her way to class when it had appeared. She had seen it through the window, out of the corner of her eye, and then the scream. Her protective instincts had kicked in immediately, and, drawing her katana (which she conveniently had because of a later class), she had run outside. Now everyone was gathering, curious, eager to find the cause of the noise (and temporarily get out of class). And Avery stood in front of the frightened young witch, sword out and ready, eyes staring down the...
She didn't know what it was. Tall and dark, faceless, the embodiment of the perfect nightmare. Some kind of shade, Avery guessed. But how had it gotten here? She frowned as she watched it, waiting for the first move. It approached slowly. Then it stopped, and raised its hand, and the ground began to grow darker. "G-Go, go!" Avery urged the squealing student behind her. The girl hesitated, terrified, but finally followed orders, and Avery jumped to lunge at the shade.
