Odd and unfamiliar words, but he’d heard some of it before and could intimate the meaning well enough in context. Kvaen - Metallia. The Sovereigns would be the what…General Kings? Generals? He’s a captain, so perhaps he only means his superiors…the detailing I don’t really need to know, I guess. His meaning is clear enough, he’s a body in a war where bodies are needed but disposable. To them.Aegir took another bite of his bar, expression cloudy; he believed everyone - even those officers he really didn’t cotton to - had worth and weren’t disposable. Even Schörl is someone’s daughter… The thought was scary, she seemed so untouchable and horrific, the idea that once she’d been a child was disturbing to say the least. “You’d send me back?” Well, that was not quite what he’d imagined; no, it was far better and spoke well for Titan. A ransom? But who would have paid it to get him back? Castor, possibly, or Thraen. His team, together, perhaps. “Better than I imagined.” Aegir gave his captive companion a small smile before shaking his head a bit; knowing that none in the Negaverse would pay to get any of the bodies occupying the cells back. He reached a gloved hand out to touch Titan’s knee as though to reassure. “You have worth, Titan. Even if Metallia and your superior officers wouldn’t pay it.” What could he say but the truth about the whole situation, “No. All around, no.” Aegir sighed and picked at his shoes to avoid looking at the sad-eyed Captain and feeling even more as though this whole endeavour were doomed and an awful idea. “I”m not suited to it.” Just like he wasn’t really suited to battle, despite how hard he worked at it. “Prisoners… people on the edge of starvation, dehydrated…filthy. Scared. I can’t imagine that anyone would think we’re worth talking to, being treated like that.” Cerussite was terrified of me. Me . But of course he was. Ceraskia was wary and scornful....and Titan? He's talking calmly with me, trusting my word...that I can perhaps help. But really, what can I do? Clearly, it bothered the senshi, as did the fact that his options for correcting the situation were quite slim. "It's why I'm trying to bring food and water, at least."

"We have done no better. It would be short-seeing if no one talked just because things were done as acts of war. But I guess....lot's of people think that way. They are very free with bullying others, but if it is done to them, they are very...." There was a word for it. There were probably lots of words for it. How offended and on guard, and awful people got because anyone dared do back to them what they were already doing to others. " Full up? Of themselves." "People like this do not listen or talk anyway. They only tell. Tell everyone else this and that. This wouldn't make a different for talking worth. I do not mind being treated as a prisoner, or held to what I've done. But I am willing to talk and to listen- and it is better done with honest words and actions between. Whether you, the small lord, or another senshi or knight. Or many. Maybe you will all have a parliament."

Aegir couldn't really speak for the Negaverse...or for any senshi other than himself. And his team. The blond could probably have spoken with authority as to what most of the senshi on his team did or said in the never-ending war they fought. "Yeah, well..like you said, there's a difference for most people between dishing it out and taking it." And others that were fine with it either way. Still, he'd chuckle a little. Full up of themselves indeed. "On both sides. I think it's a problem of human nature, more than Chaos or Order." A parliament? If only there were some sort of anything beyond tenuous alliances and spread-out teams with varied goals. "Maybe someday, we'll be more organized. Maybe not. Ego often gets in the way. But I like to work with people as much as possible...and to talk. Like with you, and others." Aegir looked over at the captain, liking his honesty and finding the cadence of his speech oddly soothing even though he knew Titan had likely participated in some Chaos-based atrocities. "Have you done a great many terrible things, Titan? Even with our last encounter, I find it hard to believe. You just seem...too nice. Kind, even. I can't help thinking you're on the wrong side of all this." But who's to say, I thought of joining the Negaverse once, and I'm not a cruel person. What if he was given no choice? How many of the officers we're holding were given no real choice?
How many are doing it to protect someone they love?"Do you have a family, outside the Negaverse?" Aegir realized it was a semi-loaded question; did the man answer and if so, how much would he dare? Would he think Aegir's question aimed to discover his civilian identity - for they all had them. Had to. It only made sense...it also only made sense that some of the people he met in his daily life were part of the Negaverse. "I do. It's why I fight."

Maybe appearing to be nice is the worst kind of lie. Answering if he did many terrible things felt too vague. They hadn't seemed horrible at the time. Having the cause of the Throne, and believing the monarch who sat it was rightfully the owner had definitely colored the view. He'd taken starseeds. While the thrill of battle was undoubted, the idea of killing and the actuality of it were sober. It was better when no one had to die, but instead knelt and took fealty to a greater noble. "I do have family. " Titan sipped more water. " They know what and who I am. " If they were killed? If I had no family? It would not change to try to do right. " I can see how it makes some harder. Or how we fail our test, sometimes. " Anna and a great many cousins. Uncles. Aunts. Far away but not beyond the reach of the Negaverse should the war engine decide that it should act. They'd said not to worry. If magic somehow could track in the wilderness of scandinavia where technology couldn't, they at least had the warning to keep an eye out. The grandfathers and grandmothers could remember Quisling, the Winter War, and Operation Weserübung. "I try to fight for all the Earth. They know it. They tell me 'make it right.' " "Does your family know?"

Although Aegir noted that Titan did not answer his query as to his deeds, it didn't trouble him overmuch. He'd asked, but the truth was he didn't want to know - not the details that would inevitably come from such a discourse - especially as the answers in that area were quite clear. Of course the Captain had done things that might be categorized terrible from the senshi's point of view - but there was much more to it. I would have done the same, likely, had Obsidian kept after me and made me one of his... Would I have thought I was doing terrible things? Probably not. Perspective is everything.Instead he sat with Titan fairly companionably, even smiling at the mention of the man's family, though his brows went up in surprise that they knew his affiliation with the Negaverse. "They do?" Aegir was genuinely surprised to hear this - he told none of his family about his dual life...at least, none that weren't discovered to be party to the whole thing. Elke knew, and Khaleel, but they were both senshi. Soldiers. His mother and sister had no idea...and he planned to keep it that way. Once more he was struck with the feeling that they really weren't so different - both trying to protect the Earth, their loved ones. Trying to make things right. "That's all I've ever wanted out of this," Aegir gestured at his costumed self and all it's glittery glory, "But no. They don't. At least, not those that aren't also able to power up." But no, that wasn't entirely true either, was it? Because he'd told Björn - shown him, actually - and they'd worked together sometimes, to help him be stronger. Memory gentled the lines of Aegir's face and set his smile to something softer, wistful even. "Well, there was one person in my family that knew and wasn't like you and I. But being Aegir is a secret from the rest. I've managed to keep them mostly out of this war...telling them if I don't have to would just complicate things further, worry them too much." Granted, he had a 'made' family that knew - but that wasn't quite what they were talking about, was it? Aegir's fingers twitched against wrapper and bare leg, the small space cramped and his usual active nature making him do anything to expend a bit of that restless energy. "I'm glad your family is supportive of you, Titan. No one should live this sort of life alone."

"In the Great Wars, there was no secret who was a soldier. But most were. There was no hiding it from others. They didn't suffer so much. They were prepared when invasion came. In Europe. And further back. With the Rome and Goth and Turk and all. Even peoples who were foolish and did not believe women or childs could wield a sword. They told their families. And let them all stand together in defense. You can hold a shield, or wrap a bandage, water a horse or pour an arrow head, even if you cannot be standing on the field. " "Maybe it does not make sense to anyone now. If my own people or if yours come after them, they know. Maybe they will sleep with one eye open, and that is sad to have to do. Maybe we all say what is... luxury," talking in broad, philosophical terms made language more uncomfortable that it was normally, and the Captain bit the inside of his jewelry while searching for the words. "What is privilege, and the weights and costs for our freedom we say all different. " Titan's gaze fixed firmly on his own hands. As though they could have become foreign things and remain attached. "Maybe the risk is the biggest difference, in our war, and we fear to let everyone know because of that. Dying is terrible, but the soul goes on. We do not only kill. What happens to a starseed that is broken, or is eaten?" "But even not telling family, friends, or the city and public...those who do not know what a sword is, cannot wield it, they can still die on it. "

Aegir found himself listening not only to the words spoken by the massive blond captain, but also the cadence with which he spoke, finding it oddly soothing. What is it about Titan that draws me to him? It's so strange to feel this connected to someone I'm only just meeting. "I suppose you're right...I admit I didn't pay much attention to history beyond what I had to know for the tests in school." That someone from the Negaverse would have did not surprise the green-eyed senshi at all, least of all this man, who seemed to operate not only by Negaverse rules but some odd sort of medieval code. Good points, all made, Aegir could give Titan that, but when he thought about his sister...it set his stomach turning. His mother could handle herself and perhaps he should tell her, just so she'd know - if anything should happen to him - but sweet Miri was another story entirely. As were those other innocents Titan spoke of, those unknowing yet so capable of falling on the sword that called itself the Negaverse - of starseeds winking from existence because the Order side couldn't save them. Knowing wouldn't save them, either - Destiny City or London, China. Antartica probably had Chaos agents there...as far as Aegir knew, they were in one of the few remaining points of resistance - there was no where else to go. Aegir reached out to put his hands over Titan's, feeling as though he ought to give some measure of comfort though he knew those selfsame hands had taken away not only lives, but futures as well in the service of Metallia. He knows, he can't help but know. Each starseed lost is lost for always when eaten or broken. And he hurts for knowing... "No one is blameless in all this. It's war...both sides wrong and right in turns, doing wrong and right in turns too. You shouldn't be here, neither should I. But we are and I'm sorry it's not different." He felt it, a faint tug and buzzing at the edge of his senses - his communicator was going off and he should check it in case there were some emergency. If Aegir were honest, he'd spent far longer than he'd meant to just sitting with the captain and talking when there was more water to distribute. One more squeeze of gloved hands, meant for reassurance, an apologetic smile curving wide mouth just so and Aegir was making his apologies. "My communicator's going off, I ought to be going." Reluctance pushed aside, the senshi collected himself to rights, standing and dusting at his ribbon-wrapped legs almost unconsciously as he prepared to take leave of Titan's small cell. "Keep that good heart, if you can. It shines." Ivynian Iiiii figure a good idea is to let you end dis with a soliloquy about dat foine arse sashaying outta the cell, aye? ;D
