Rhonann laughed lightly. "We'll just see if she knows somethin'. Then we can come back out and train more! Besides, maybe I'll be a natural with the bow that's not a bow, and be able to hit that ribbon~"
She walked quickly after Mnyiri, wincing slightly as the innkeeper's girl nearly got trampled. She knew it was hard being short around Mnyiri... "We didn't break anything," she huffed back. ..because she never broke anything... "We have a question. Do ya know anything that's like the bow, but not it?" Frowning at her question, she scratched her head slightly. "Uses the arrows, but ya hold it different, and use it different."

While Mnyiri wasn't entirely sure the girl didn't know or just didn't want to talk, she just nodded her head. The father was sure to know much more about how to work something imaginary like this, anyway. "Where is he?"
"Outside, fixin' up a chair so the tallies can sit."
Tallies? Now it was Mnyiri's turned to be confused. Was she talking about the leaf tribe or...?
"It's you idiot. You and people like you." The girl threw up her hands in exasperation before reaching for her sheets and fleeing the scene.
The whole thing was rather amusing, really. At first Mnyiri had been more than a little peeved at the brats words, but now...well, she was oddly touched, Turning to Rhonann, Mnyiri motioned back outside with a grin. "Back outside, I guess."

Rhonann was leaning forward, waiting for the girl to answer. The response had her perking up curiously. The papa might know? Made sense. Papas were older, more knowledgeable.
"Hey!" Rho was more than ready to argue against the girl's attitude, but Mnyiri's voice caught her attention first. Well, if Mnyiri didn't mind... Snorting, scooted on ahead to try finding the guy building the 'tallies' chair. She would have to chat with that snotty brat later...
Outside, she spotted a man with long hair tied back in a braid as he pulled a large chair upright. She'd seen him around the inn, but had never had reason to talk to him herself. Mnyiri had taken care of acquiring the room. "Hey, mister! We got a question."
The man looked up curiously, but his eyes locked onto Mnyiri with a bright, hopeful smile. "Ah! Perfect timing. Would ya mind tryin' out this chair fer a bit? Make sure it's cozy fer your height."

If Mnyiri hadn't known this was a man she would have assumed he was one of the ugliest women she had ever seen. Which was a blessing, really; for him anyway.
At least he was a friendly sort! "Oh, okay, sure." She sashayed closer and looked at the chair closely. It already seemed to be taller than the rest, though only a true test would determine if it was high enough off the ground to be comfortable. Mnyiri turned and then planted her rump firmly on the wooden seat. While her legs didn't dangle they didn't fold over and left her in a very satisfying, comfortable position. She wriggled in the seat for a bit, making sure it worked for the various poses one might try after being in the chair for a while before grinning at the man. "Fits just fine to me."
Instead of moving the teenager merely crossed her legs at the ankle and relaxed into the seat. "Okay, so, we've got questions. Do you know what's like a bow, but isn't? It still shoots arrows, but it's...." She looked to Rhonann, floundering for an explanation she suspected her friend didn't have either.

Rhonann crossed her arms, waiting impatiently for the chair to be tested. Still, seeing Mnyiri in a chair that actually fit her did warm her heart.
Ah! But back to the question! "Yeah! Umm.." Sticking out her lip, she impulsively grabbed the bow and held it up parallel with the ground. "Hold it like this. ..I think. ..Something like this."
The innkeeper had been watching the Alkidke with delight, pleased to see the chair accepted. The change in subject was reluctant. He wanted to ask more questions to improve the chair.. but maybe after theirs were answered? As the pair tried to describe what they sought, the man slowly cocked his head with confusion. After a moment, he grinned. "Ah! Ya mean a crossbow! Ain't seen one of those in quite a while." Looking around, he grabbed up a stick of wood, and held his hand out for the bow, placing it on top of the stick near the further end. "They look somethin' like this. Mostly travelers have 'em though. We use bows 'round here."
Rhonann felt her heart swell. What she was looking at... she could see it now. The crossbow... "I know how to use them! Are you sure you don't have any here?"
The innkeeper shook his head. "Sorry, darlin'. Might find an armory around here to make one, but mostly got bows here."

Mnyiri watched the innkeeper as he made the rough form of the weapon, trying to recall if she'd seen anything like it in her travels. She couldn't think of anything, but hey, it had a name now! That was enough to give her a jolt of excitement. "You do?! Rhonann, we have to go find an armory now and get you one. Like, right now. "
Leaping up from her seat, the hybrid moved closer to Rhonann, keen on dragging her friend off in search before pausing to look back to the innkeeper. "I can help out when we get back if you want. I like testing stuff, and it's really neat that you're thinking about people like me. Makes me feel all warm on the inside."
And she meant it. Today was just looking up and up from here.

Rhonann looked over at Mnyiri with surprise. After a moment, her expression warmed brightly. Mnyiri really did want to help her...
The innkeeper took a step back from the excited Alk, chuckling lightly. "I'd appreciate that if ya did. Good luck, ladies. The nearest armory is down that way. If not there, they can point you where ta go."
Rhonann took Mnyiri's hand with a grin. "You said right now~" she exclaimed, turning to hurry in the indicated direction. A piece of her past was coming to light. Why not be excited?

Mnyiri squeezed Rhonann's smaller hand in her own and nodded enthusiastically. "We just gotta go up to the room first and grab some coin. What if we see one and we don't have anything to buy it with? Come on, Rho Rho, back inside." Laughingly, she dragged her friend back towards the inn. This little detour would be as fast as possible since Mnyiri was just as eager to see this crossbow herself.
Not only would she be learning more about earthling culture, but she would be able to see a new weapon AND help Rhonann. A triple win!
