Slate expected some measure of suspicion, as nearly everyone in Destiny City had a right to be wary of strangers at night, but not to the level of this guy's crude objections. Dia didn't look terribly out of place, he thought, at least not immediately distinguishable as part of the war. She looked more like those kids he often saw dressing up as anime characters and going to conventions. Her Negaverse attire looked cute, and not terribly unlike lolita fashion. Apparently their mark wasn't about to buy into any of this.
Which meant, as Slate shouldered her toward the man, he was at a complete loss for what to do. s**t, he thought frantically, as Dia grabbed the man and started draining (successfully, to his swelling joy) before she was cast aside. Dammit, what am I gonna do here? Okay, okay, if I was Umber, I'd do what... Rip his starseed out probably. But, is that allowed? Slowly he started edging backward as their mark grew more agitated. Looking around, he found very little in the way of cover for transformation. The dumpster wasn't about to block the entire sparkle streamer bullshit sequence that came of his every transformation, and the alleyway stretched long before it bent to block view. His choices, if he meant to power up at all, were intensely limited.
"Dia!" He called, just before the man stood up and spread his feet in a fight-or-flight stance. "Use your magic! I've got an idea!"
"Like hell you do..." The man didn't wait; a gnarled hand shot into a frayed pocket to pull one of the older-style flip phones for use. 911 was a simple three-button sequence, and he fully intended to have these pair of strange imbeciles arrested for assault.
Slate guessed he wouldn't have much time to transform, and curled his hand about the pen in his jacket pocket, waiting for the moment that he'd look away.Ghouliboo ivy and her kittyalso i'm so sorry this took so long, but i should be back on track now

She saw the flip phone the same moment Slate did, her heart leaping in her chest at the thought of what could happen if the police were to be called. Dia had just gotten her senshi form - she couldn't lose this sort of freedom now! Besides - she would do horrible in prison! No proper hair care, the mattresses weren't set to her comfort level and they surely didn't serve sweets to inmates...what a horrible thought!
The gumdrop appeared in her hand at Slate's prompting and before she could think twice about what she was doing, it was hurled at the man.
"Candy Coating!"
Her breath refused to exhale until the candy made contact with the man's hand. The gumdrop exploded into a large, gummy mess, taking both the man's hand and cellphone and covering it with sweet smelling, sticky goop.
Scrambling to her feet, she grabbed both the young man's hand with one glove and the energy orb with the other - "Let's get out of here!"
And so they did, heels and sneakers echoing down the alleyway as the two made their getaway into the night.
