"Some of them? Yes. Most of them are dangerous even if they are intelligent so it's best to be careful." He didn't trust the beasts at all which was likely the reason why he had yet to attempt to tame his own. He would have to, at some point, if he was going to progress in ranks. If? Shouldn't he be thinking when? The sound of metal striking metal snapped him back to the reality of the sparring situation, although it was entirely possible for the Lieutenant to have spotted his hesitation. "Nice parry, Lieutenant."

"Question, do you have your own youma?" He personally only had the one in mind, he knew it was absolutely hilarious for him to be infatuated with something that was likely not even human..That would certainly never be human again even if she had once been. Still...
Prehnite smiled a little, surprised at himself. Though he couldn't help but wonder if the Captain was going easy on him. He knew he should have enjoyed it for what it was. He had never been good at that though.
Taking a chance and advancing a few steps on Richterite, wondering if the man was distracted enough that he could get in close and really test those cards.
"Also...and I mean absolutely no offense, but how is it you are not a complete and total a*****e?" Not that Prehnite thought himself honey and roses, but he'd met a few others and well, a*****e was usually a good general term for most of them. Not necessarily all of the pages, but the senshi..other lieutenants, god forbid the generals. "If theres a magic that will save me from that. I'd like to know about it."

"Depending on who you ask, Lieutenant, I am a complete and total a*****e." He was grinning as he said that, expression teasing and more than a little bit devious as he took advantage of the opening in order to send another card flying in the lieutenant's direction to try and halt his advance. Three down. One more before he would have to call them back. "To answer your other question: no. I do not have my own youma." It would be hard to explain that he purposefully tried to avoid the Rift and had, unless called, since the last meeting that they had all been drawn to. While others found solace and comfort there he only seemed to feel more and more on edge. Fortunately, that was not information that he would just openly share, so he hoped to leave it at that.

"Lies...Clearly they don't understand the meaning of the word." The man had an honest to gods sense of humor? One that seemed far less bloody minded than so many others.
Prehnite attempted to anticipate the cards trajectory, changing his footing and suffering for it. The card catching him across his left shoulder, tearing through the fabric. He hissed as the weapon drew blood, a small gash he was willing to shrug off less he loose the small bit of ground he was gaining.
Instead he took a chance to rush in, and close the space.
"A shame. All the ones I've seen have been free roaming. They don't inspire me into wanting one for a 'pet'" He couldn't really blame the man for not having one, it seemed so much like an archaic 'right of passage'. The sort that could leave you maimed or worse..No no, only Iolanthe..though he wasn't sure if it was because she was as much plant as she was animal..human? Rose Goataur?

Instead of drawing his last card he let the Lieutenant rush him, giving him a chance to show off his own skills. Training wasn't just about causing others pain. It wouldn't be worth much if Prehnite didn't learn a bit about how to handle himself in a fight at least a little bit better. "I've managed not to see many of them. The Rift isn't a friendly place." Nor were many of the commanding officers that spent their time there. Captain Richterite hadn't wanted to risk running into General King Zinkenite again least he find himself having to answer for his lack of presence after the promotion that he had demanded. "Cmon. Show me what you can do."

"Oh absolutely!" Prehnite grinned at the come-on, gripping his trowel tight in his right hand as he rushed the man; swinging his leg up to aim a kick at the captain's side.
He wasn't exactly overconfident in his own skills, but he loved the thrill of being able to try. Skye Starrfyre Short post is short I'm sorry it took so long~ AHHH!

He had enough time to dodge the kick, but he didn't. Instead he let the lieutenant's boot catch him in the side so that he could catch him by the leg before he had a chance to draw back. He gave Prehnite's leg a pull to knock off his balance, swinging one of his own feet around to trip the other man and knock him onto his back with a grin. "... What do you say we go find something to eat? I know a great Mexican place not far from here." Shiningamisgirl It's okay! I know I'm way overdue in our other one. ;; Going to try and get caught up this weekend. <3

Prehnite blinked up from his position on the ground, flat on his back, and could only laugh. That had gone nearly exactly as he'd imagined it would. He didn't think he'd ever get used to being so terrible at this sort of thing. He should have just stuck to gardening.
"You know what..I could go for a taco right about now." Food sounded so much better than fighting..or fleeing..any combination of 'work'. "It's Reed by the way..My name. It's weird how often I forget to be a 'person' outside of all this..." Gesturing vaguely at himself as he got up and dusted himself off. Skye Starrfyre Same same same! -nods- Catchup time!

"Tacos it is, Reed. I'm Rik." He flashed the other young man a grin, clapping a hand down onto his shoulder so that he could teleport them both into the alleyway near the restaurant. Sure, it would be a little draining and yeah, it was totally showing off -- But was it worth it? Definitely. Shiningamisgirl And thus starts a beautiful friendship of two guys who would very much rather not fight.
