Eresin pondered the question for a moment and then said "Well, if it were that easy, then I wouldn't have really learned anything, would I?" He took a sip of ale then scratched his chin. "I suppose... If I know my uncle, he truly wants to make sure that making the decision to become a mage is something I would really want to do. One thing is for certain though, and it's that I really do want to be a travelling mage, so to speak."
"Ah, well maybe one day I will find him. You're right about him appearing somewhere along in my journey. I just have to start it..." He trailed off and thought about Ciaran again. Eresin really did think Ciaran was out there somewhere. Well... Maybe I'm just really hopeful.
He smiled and accepted the sweet bread piece from her. He bit half of the piece and chewed slowly. Truly this was the best bread he's ever tasted. It's... so fluffy and sweet. Why have I never had this before? The enjoyment of the bread showed on his face as he smiled and nodded while eating it. He almost missed Talisia's comment travelling to Jauhar. "Ah, well, how much longer do you think you'll be in Oba?" He asked as he tilted his head. Perhaps I can stay with you and look for my uncle in Oba...

A sly smile crossed Talisia's face, "Oh? Then pray tell me, what have you learned so far?" She couldn't help teasing him before ordering two soups from the tavern server. Even with the desert heat, the evening cool of Oba always made her crave warm soups. Perhaps it was a remnant from the stews that she had once in Zena...Talisia blinked towards Eresin, "Sounds like your uncle truly enjoys making one work for their goals then."
"Then start it." Talisia raised a brow towards the boy, "Are you afraid of getting out there?" She paused thoughtfully, "But I would understand if your family ties were keeping you....I suppose those have a great significance as well." For those who knew them. Already she was thinking of Dris and how her sister interacted with her shifter family. They were an unit in a way, but even Talisia wondered how long things would remain as they were. Eventually all children grew up and left the nest or in her case were shoved roughly away from it.
At Eresin's question she paused thoughtfully, "Honestly I'm not certain. It all depends on how long their business will take. Afterwards I don't know where I'm going...I may travel back to Jauhar with them or explore more of this area." Secretly, in her heart she was hoping to find word of Ciaran still. Yet Talisia didn't dare to go back towards Zena. I'm not ready yet.
"You live with traveling merchants so I'm guessing you will be leaving soon as well? Back towards Zena or through another city first?"

Well he's learned a lot about himself and his own desired path in life, but other than that he really didn't know much about being a mage, or even adventuring in general. Although... No risk no reward right? "Well, one thing I did learn... Some of the most beautiful people are underneath some hard exteriors." In his mind, he hoped she thought nothing of it, but his heart was racing, hoping she would receive the hint. I'm really bad at this... If not for the ale, I probably wouldn't have said anything at all...
"Yes, my family is really the only thing holding me back... Besides the fact that I feel more comfortable travelling with someone, and even more so with a group." Is talking to someone really this hard? I can't seem to find the right way to ask her if I could travel with her. If this was anyone else, I don't think I'd have this big of an issue. What's stopping me? Maybe it was because he met her before and that he was so happy to see her again, or perhaps because he is so appreciative of her presence that he doesn't want to push her away by trying to get too close. Well, I would hate to not see her for a long time again... He vanished the thought as the soups came and waited until Talisia ate a bite to dig in.
Jauhar? That's in the opposite direction that my parents are going... But that's also where Uncle Nerio is going... This really must be my chance...! His eyes looked down at his soup. But first... soup. He smiled at Talisia and started to eat the soup. Mmm. It's really good. Talisia seemed to read his mind when it came to food style. She knows how to pick a meal for a chilly desert night. He swallowed his soup to answer her question. "Ah, well, my parents are actually going to make their way back towards Zena through Matori and Sauti... But..." The words caught in his throat. It was as if everything he wanted to tell her ask her and share with her got mangled in a ball in the back of his throat. His words were so tangled, it hurt. Why is this so hard? He had to ask her, though. This definitely was his chance to get away from the merchant life and start his life as a mage. And maybe this time I'll get to keep my friends... That was it. That thought gave him the courage to pull his thoughts and words together and finally ask what he needed to ask.
"My uncle is travelling to Jauhar. I want to leave the merchant life to go see him. I would like to travel... with you..." He trailed off, his courage waning. I hope I didn't make a mistake...

Talisia just quirked an eyebrow towards the boy, "I suppose that's an insightful statement." As usual anything directed towards her just flew over her head. Nothing could tempt her heart, it had too many worries and confusion resting there. Instead she just raised a glass to her lips and took a drink of water. After that day with Callum the hybrid had sworn off ale for a while. Not only did it taste strange, but apparently she was a super lightweight. A very grumpy, sassy one at that.
"Oh?" She sighed quietly, "I suppose family is both a good and bad thing in that sense. They can be your home and comfort, but your chains at the same time." Almost like a baby kinfa needing a mother to push it from the nest before it finally found its wings, "Groups are nice, but sometimes inconvenient. You have to have similar travel plans and ideas." Talisia was just a wanderer herself so following Dris hadn't been an issue. It was good family bonding time as well. The thought made her frown slightly. The word sister was still a strange concept to her.
Talisia was patient as she realized that Eresin was struggling to tell her something, but when he did finally blurt out the words the girl nearly choked on her soup. Swallowing, Talisia pushed the bowl to the side and leaned on the table to stare down her companion. "You want to travel with me?" She shook her head slightly in disbelief, "I know we are getting along and that we have some connections, but why?" She stared at him, a crease decorating her brow as she tried to figure out his thinking. Why? Traveling with a hybrid was bound to always attract trouble and as she studied him she doubted he had been in any fights his whole life.
"I don't think you know the dangers you would be risking. I attract a lot of trouble and honestly right now have no real purpose. I actually..." She trailed off as the words caught in her own throat. Suddenly admitting her history to this other Zenan seemed too personal because he had known her brother and in a short period even her, "I'm here with my half-sister and her stepfather. I don't know how long they'll be in Oba for or even if we'll be going to Jauhar after this. I'm basically a homeless wanderer right now in a sense save for them. What would you gain from traveling with me or even what would I gain from traveling with you? I can't offer that much protection, there's plenty out there stronger than me if that was what you were seeking."

Eresin paused. Okay, okay. Recompose yourself, Eresin. He inhaled deeply and exhaled, almost sounding like a sigh. "I don't care if you're a hybrid. None of that matters to me. I'll try to not get in your way. All I ask is that you take me with you to Jauhar. There I can actually learn to defend myself. For the time being, I know some tricks that can get bandits and troublemakers of the sort to turn the other way. I did travel as a merchant for a long time, and that has many dangers as well." He looked her in the eye and smiled. "Besides, what will happen if you get injured again?" He chuckled as he gestured towards her bandages. Eresin gulped down the rest of his soup and let out a sigh of satisfaction. "I honestly don't know how to fight, but I know how to avoid danger until I actually can fight. My uncle will teach me, but I have to get to him first." He leaned forward. "Please consider it." Eresin couldn't help but feel a bit desperate. His whole lifestyle change was entirely reliant on Talisia's decision. If worst comes to worst, then I'll just have to go on my own... Eresin hoped, however, that it wouldn't have to come to that. He really wanted to see his uncle again, and at the same time he really wanted to stay by Talisia's side. He rather found it comforting to tend to her wounds. It gave him a sense of importance, but there was more to it than that. He felt like he wanted to keep taking care of her, and help her to do whatever she needed help with. I'll have to come to terms with my feelings. I really do care about her, even though I don't know her that well...

Talisia sighed, "It's not that I'm worried about you judging me. Obviously you don't care." She actually had a faint laugh for that comment, "It's just not everyone is that open towards hybrids as you are. Therefore, we tend to attract all the trouble." At his argument the girl leaned into her hand and just stared at him, "You do, hmm? So if I find your dead body somewhere I shouldn't feel any guilt for agreeing? Though you seem confident that you can hold your own, right?"
"I don't need someone to baby me." She huffed as he pointed out the bandages. Even if he had been a bit helpful there, still! It wasn't like she was so eager to have another on her conscious. What if something really did happen to him on the road? I suppose I could have Silva watch over him... Oh gods, it almost as if she were considering his request! I must have lost my mind in all of this desert sun. She needed a vacation from all of this. Perhaps even Dris had hit her once too many times while they sparred together.
Tapping her fingers against her cheek, the girl sighed once more. "Look, it's not that I don't like you...but it's just that not all dangers can easily be avoided. Nor do I trust myself to be good at protecting anyone yet." Still if Dris was there along with the others...Talisia bit her lip thoughtfully, "If you can manage to stay in Oba by the time we are departing then I'll consider it. But!" She pulled back and held a finger up towards him, "You have to make certain to prove that you can hold your own. If you even slip into any trouble don't expect me to be able to run in and save your hide, okay?"
"Plus, it's not like I travel alone. Perhaps you should meet some of my companions first before just deciding this. They might not be who you want to travel with after all." Really her mind was in a flurry. She truly had not been expecting him to ask this! Just what made him decide on her? Out of all things... Pushing away from the table the girl tossed enough coin to cover the meal, "We're on the outskirts of the city in a camp. You should be able to find me easily if you ask around. Come back in a couple of days and if you still are determined to travel with us then...I suppose we'll see. I can't promise anything though!" She reinforced quickly, "Like I said I'm traveling with others so we'll see."
Striding away from the table, Talisia paused once more to glance towards Eresin. "I just don't want anyone else hurt because of me, okay?" Her bi-colored gaze was actually gentle as she looked towards him, "So just make certain that this is truly something you are wanting and are ready for first. I'll be waiting to see what you decide after thinking it over a bit more." Giving a small wave the hybrid disappeared through the tavern and away from sight.
What is going on here? Was she really going to say yes to this guy? Dammit, Ciaran, why couldn't you be here instead of me? He always had the right answers and knew what to do. But why her? Talisia could only hope that Eresin truly would be prepared if he wanted to travel with her. The last thing she wanted was for the boy to get hurt, but at the same time she didn't want to stop him from seeing his uncle again. Time to talk to Dris and see what she thinks of this...
She could decide later, after all she still had a few days to give him a true answer.

Eresin sank into the tavern booth as he watched Talisia leave. She was right about one thing; he really hadn't thought about he course of action he was going to take. To find out now that there were more variables than he originally thought created an entirely new situation. It was hard enough for him to talk to one person, but now he had to talk to a whole group? How many were there? How would he even convince all of them that he could hold his own, when in actuality, he really couldn't. He knew absolutely nothing about fighting. Well, at least I almost sold that to Talisia. Maybe the others won't be as difficult to convince.
He bought another ale, chugged it down and started on his way home. It had grown dark out, yet he wasn't really concerned with a bad crowd. One thing he really did know was how to avoid trouble. That much I wasn't talking up. He wobbled a bit and kept walking and thinking about what he should do over the next few days. Is this really what I want to do...? he thought as he made his way home.
