“That’s what I always figured,” Paris said. “I still don’t know if it’s true, though.”
She’d spent so much time on her homeworld, and while she’d learned much about her past life (and a little about herself in the process), nothing she’d seen or heard seemed as if it would be any help in the current time. Maybe that wasn’t the point. Maybe the answers they were supposed to be finding were different than the ones they were looking for. Maybe that’s all it was -- finding yourself.
Paris leaned in to press her lips to Chris’s again, letting the kiss linger for a few moments longer than the previous one had. This time when she pulled away she looked sad and pensive, but it was fleeting. Soon, her lips twitched into a small smile.
“It’s late,” she said. “We should get some sleep. You’re going to be a grump in the morning.”

Chris wasn’t sure what that expression was when Paris pulled away. She looked sad, but he couldn’t quite place why she would look that way. Was it something he’d said? Whatever the reason, she seemed to push it aside, which had him frowning slightly as he shifted into a more comfortable position.
“You love me, even if I’m a grump,” Chris huffed, securing his arm around Paris as he pressed a kiss to her forehead. There was still a lot that they needed to learn. About themselves, about each other, about what was going to happen to them in the future. At least no matter what they did, they would have each other.
