Oh goddess, was he... Nimueh held his breath, unsure if he was witnessing his friend's final moments or not. Surely, after driving the sermal away, that wasn't going to happen - right? But now, looking down at Callum, the wounds seemed so deep and there was just so much blood...

The adrenaline that had somehow kept him afloat was waning, and once again he was shaking like a leaf. For those long, harrowing moments, Callum remained painfully still... but then he rolled up, tighter, and broke down into a shuddering mess of coughing and blood. When those beautiful pale eyes opened, Nimueh nearly sobbed in relief, but instead held his breath, as if afraid the smallest puff of air would somehow push Callum past his limit.

His first words were, of course, alarm over Nimueh's state- but the proof of his lucidity was bittersweet. Once he'd shared his outrage, his following words fell into slick-sounding, indiscernible mumbles. Was the blood even Nimueh's? The sermal had clawed at his shoulders, but sensation had yet to catch up to him, and he was pretty sure it WASN'T his. Callum, meanwhile...

His throat was a mess, and his clothes and belly were scratched to pieces from the sermal's claws. Thankfully, while deep and painful looking, those wounds weren't immediately threatening. The neck wound was the danger. "Do you... do you have bandages? Er... medicine?" He ventured, knowing that the contents of his own bag weren't ideal for this. Rocks and hammers didn't offer much medicinal aid, after all. Shuffling forward on his knees, Nimueh reached over Callum for the older hybrid's bag and tugged it open, taking a few tries to do it succesfully, now that his hands were shaking once more.

The chilled Sauti air seemed to envelop him like the hands of so many long lost relatives. Whispered winds pulled him into the embrace of spiritual kin whose arms leeched the warmth from his bones. It frightened him, but Callum couldn't find the energy to truly experience the panic. He neither wanted to go with them, nor did he particularly want to fight against them. For a long, harrowing moment he simply stared off into a sort of void before forcing himself into the present.

There were questions, questions he had to focus on hearing. Callum made a series of indescribable whimpers, as if the entire situation were too much for him to comprehend. He reached out a cold, clammy, blood stained hand in Nimueh's direction. "B-banda...bag..." He vaguely knew there was at least one roll of bandages in his bag, but the rest seemed so unimportant right now.

He ventured to touch Nim once again, and this time he made contact. His fingers clenched in the material of his pant's leg; a loose grip to keep him here on the wave of another wet cough. "D-do...don't leave..."

Callum kept ... dozing. That was the only way Nim could describe it. And each time the blonde's head sagged and his eyes drifted, his heart dropped and he was certain that was it - that Callum had 'drifted' for good. But Callum snapped back, and broke into whimpers so weak and heartbreaking that Nimueh felt pinpricks of tears at his eyes, and a clammy hand against his throat, squeezing with emotion.

So when he was told there were bandages, Nimueh was thankful for the work, and scrambled to sift through the goods inside, looking for them. Sure enough, there were bandages - rolled neatly near the bottom, used mainly for cuffing knuckles or feet against wear and tear of the road. Nim wished he could wash the wound, pack it with something if necessary, but he knew from hunting that in such cases as a mauling it was better to stop the bleeding, first and foremost. If this thought hadn't been drilled into his head so thoroughly, he certainly would have frozen, staring down at the bandages, caught between the 'should I or shouldn't I?' argument in his mind.

As he unrolled it, cursing as his uncertain gestures spilled the cloth over the ground, Nim shifted his gaze towards his friend, giving a wince of a smile at the soft words. "I won't - I promise, I won't. Just hang on, and I'll... I'll wrap you up. Ok??" He responded. His voice caught, briefly, but he shook it off and instead moved to start wrapping, pausing to briefly shift Callum over the roll of bandage with each pass. It was simply too risky to move him, just yet - and from his position kneeling above Callum he could pull to create enough pressure to, hopefully, ease the bleeding. It must be painful, but he pressed on, forcing himself to ignore Callum's complaints until he felt confident it was tight enough, at which point he tied it off and tucked the remaining bandage back into the bag. It wasn't enough for another pass, if Callum bled through - which meant they needed to find civilization, and fast.

...Which would be easier if he knew where he was. Leaning back on his haunches, Nim lifted his gaze and swept it around, half afraid he'd see another sermal... but hoping, praying and hoping to see some shred of a settlement in the distance.

Callum nodded his head softly, or at least made enough movement so that he thought the action had been performed. He believed him, but there was still this sense of fear gripping his heart, though Callum couldn't pinpoint the source. If he had known it was the fear all mortals experienced of death after receiving grievous wounds he might have been comforted, but the shock didn't allow him to think.

Callum whimpered at the first bit of movement, attempting to grit himself through the pain, but as it escalated, a fine sheen of sweat mixing with the blood on his skin, he had no choice but to cry out. Every time he squeezed his eyes closed the world seemed a little darker upon reopening with little black spots clouding the spaces around Nimueh. At one point he tried to push, albeit weakly, against Nimueh to make it stop, but the younger man was persistent.

When the pain became to much for him to handle Callum felt himself slipping into a void. He tried reaching out for Nimueh one last time, but found his hand limp at his side, too exhausted to listen to his pleas. What if he didn't wake up? He couldn't go without saying...without telling him that he lov...

And in an instant Callum was unconscious.
