"Not a spy, or a ninja," Elu replied distractedly, eyes sweeping across the crowd of people as they surged around them. Her heart thudded against her chest like a dragonfly's wings and she squeezed his hand. "I'm like you." A vague statement, but she didn't clarify, just followed him through the throng of people and into the marketplace.
She was surprised when he ducked into an alley, pressed her against a wall and covered her with his body. Panic swelled within her and she nearly lashed out at him, only stilling when he spoke.
She swallowed, working hard to school her features when the guards had passed. "Don't-- don't do that. If you do, I might end up hurting you." Captivity had given her an automatic fight reaction whenever someone moved her in a way she didn't want.
"D-do you mean off of Altais? I- I don't know. What would they do without you?" She wanted to, but if Altais was as important as Denebola had been to her star, she didn't know if she could do that to his people.

He immediately backed up, "I...I'm sorry Elu!" He clapped his hands together, bowing his head. "Please don't hurt me...I haven't even seen the ships yet?" but the look in her eyes was haunted and hurt and though he had no experience with the outside world, it didn't stop the empathy for her plight.
"I am sure they would probably be fine. I am...um..." He tried to think of the right word. "Showcase. Everything is dictated for me. I will be married to a high ranking royal woman, to keep the Altais line within its ranks or something. It's not always easy. Then once I am married, I will be bedded with the woman and once she is pregnant, that's it. I will never see my child." He cocked his head. "I've never met my father. or much of my mother either." Raised by attendants.
"I am just..." He shrugged, "Not very special at all."

Her chest was heaving from her near panic attack and she forced herself to smile weakly at him. "It's fine, I won't hurt you." She shook her head, swallowing dryly as she looked at him. "Just don't -- don't pin me against anything, I...I spent some time in captivity and I haven't really recovered." Her chest felt a little lighter with the admission and she reach up to pat his face lightly, fondly.
His description of his duties, the expectations of his world they, well they made her angry and she pursed her lips in a frown.
"Don't say that," she shook her head, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth and worrying it. "You're special, even if your world can't see that." Her heart constricted when she thought over what he said. He lived a half-life, it wasn't fair. He should have been free to live his life, pick a wife or consort of his own not have one picked for him.
She had many expectations as the senshi and future chief of her homeworld, but she was afforded more freedom than he was. It wasn't fair.
"Okay, I'll take you with me."
She didn't know what her promise would mean, she barely knew Al but she knew she wanted him to have more. He was a slave to his people and she couldn't stand for it. "But you'll have to come back eventually, you know that right?"

"okay! Okay that's good! Sorry-" His smile fell and then stuck his hands in his pockets. "C...Captive?" Like him? But she didn't react like...He did to things. He let the words sink in and then bowed his head. "You were...prisoner?" He waved his hands, "Not like me, worse? Abused?" If he was a bit stronger, smarter, maybe he could promise revenge or something for her.
But he was just a lamb opening its eyes and well, he would never know the darker sides of the universe.
"It is simple fact for me? Before you, I would never know the freedom. To move around like this?" He came out of the alley and spun, "To see my own home beyond the walls?" He just couldn't believe the wonders. And while he was still worried for her, he wanted to focus on the lighter side of things.
And help her in anyway-
"You'll take me?!?!" His eyes widened, "Really?!!? TRULY?" He couldn't believe it. "This is not joke? Because-" There was a sniff, "I really would like to see more! All of it!" He nodded.
"I can come back anytime right?" He said mischievously, "Not right away though!"

She looked away from him, arms folded tight across her body like she was hugging herself. Dread pooled in the pit of her stomach and suddenly, Elu was wondering if she'd made a mistake in telling him or even taking him along with her. "In a manner of speaking yes," her words were clipped, tone harsher than she meant.
"I got caught in the slave trade," she muttered so softly it was very audible. She didn't know if Altais, the homewrold, kept slaves but she hoped not. She hoped for better from a place that produced someone like Al. "I won't ever let anyone take my freedom from me again," she told him firm when he spoke of his own freedom.
"You should be able to have that all the time." Elu never knew how much she'd been afforded back home.
Despite her stony demeanor, she found herself smiling at his enthusiasm, laughter spilling from her mouth. "Yes, yes I'll take you with me. I promise you'll see more, we'll see new things, together. We just need to fix the ship first, preferably before your guard friend find us."

"Slave trade." He let the words sink in but he tried not to let her see the pity. He had heard of those things, and had argued that their planet not be part of such dealings. They were not slave traders. Their ports would not be open to such. It had always been decreed by the senshi of Altais. So he upheld it.
"Freedom is fun." He tried to lighten the mood a little. "I can't wait to see more then....walls." He laughed and then took off down the way. Elu could keep up and he found what he wanted quickly enough. The only mechanic in Altais that Al personally knew. The mechanic nodded to the senshi and then looked over at Elu.
"This one. I've met him once." He offered a excited smile. "He says, ship too large for him but he knows someone. They will go to the Garden. Discreetly." He gnawed his lip. "Is this okay?"

"Freedom is a gift that most take for granted." It came out harsher than she intended but, if nothing, Elu was bitter about her time spent as a captive. "Don't ever forget that Al, it's something we are given, not owed." Once upon a time she thought that freedom was something they all got, but the last two years had taught her otherwise.
She wouldn't take her freedom granted ever again.
She didn't know when she could lose it again.
"Yeah, okay we can work with that. Does he-- Does he know that I can't pay?" She didn't have money, not really. Just a few coins here and there to get her through. Crims had tried, but even then his resources were limited.
"I mean, I can't right now, but I would come back later--"

"A gift." He nodded. Such a proper thought to have about it. It was her gift to him, after it was gifted to her. Something they could both treasure, in their way.
"It's okay! I have..." He started to remove the elborate earrings and necklaces, all plated in gold and bright jewels. All 'gifts' from his advisors. All chains that reminded him that he was only their doll. Presentation.
"I have all these." He handed piece after piece until he was left with a single necklace and earring, the large jewels bright red in color.
"We should get back." He loathed to do so, but in order for Elu to escape, and take her with him, they would need to get the mechanic to her ship as soon as possible.

Freedom was something the young woman had come to treasure greatly now that she could grasp it firmly in her hands again. If it were up to her, she'd never let anyone dictate her life ever again.
"No-- you don't, you shouldn't give up your things for me. I can figure out a different way to pay them," she insisted, folding her hand over the earring in his hand. "I can come back and pay, Denebola would be grateful to repay those that helped me return home." That she did not doubt.
There hadn't been a day that went by where she hadn't fretted over the well being of her people.
Denebola was not meant to be without it's senshi.
"Yes, of course." She jerked from her thoughts, pulled him along with her. "Let's get this taken care of.

"It's okay!" Al practically threw them at the mechanic who nodded and set them aside.
"I have many more, they mean nothing to me." He shruggedm "They are signs, that I do not belong to myself." Only the ones he had kept had little meaning to him.
"Gifts, for time bought, if you think of it." He sighed and then took her hand. "It will be trick to sneak in but we can do it!"

Elu hesitated, feeling as though if she allowed him to pay that she was indebting herself to him and that was not a pleasant feeling for her. "I just--- fine," she huffed, deciding it wasn't worth fighting about it.
She was taking him off planet and he was getting the ship fixed. It was a fair trade. "I'm not worried about getting back in, that'll be easy." The jump hadn't been as far as she'd expected and she figured that if she went from Elu to Denebola, she'd have the boost she needed to jump the wall.
"Let's hurry though. I don't want to stick around longer than we have to."pixie nyxie cue back to the ship and end?

Altais didn't think of it as debt, and had he known she felt that way, he would've done his best to reassure her.
"Right!" He hesitated and then smiled at her. "Thank you Elu." And then they were back to the garden. The mechanic already there. After some fingagling, all under the guards noise, the ship was fixed.
And he was being taken to the stars.
