Damn him. Damn him damn him damn him! She couldn't fault his logic. It was misguided, it was narrow minded, but it was sound. By his view of the world, the only 'right' side was that of the Negaverse. She could see how he thought she was an alien, how the symbols were misguiding and confusing, and conflicting. She could see where his whole perspective, and the worst part was she couldn't argue against it. Not really.

She contemplated it, joining the Negaverse. Andronicus had considered it, after the memories stopped surging through her head and she'd had time to calm down. She still, even now, held it as an option. Never an option she would ever take, but an option nonetheless. If the world went to s**t, or Order imploded, a hand in her chest and some Chaos later, and at least she'd have some better way to defend herself. A survival tactic in a world gone mad.

Andronicus would never admit it - not to herself, not to Ochre, not to anyone - but she hungered for a power she could not obtain. She hungered to be something more than she was, without sacrificing who she was. Yet it seemed it had to one or the other, not both.

Never both.

The squire snorted, pushing herself up from her seat and stretching out her back. "It's one of many possible futures. It's an... option I'd rather leave open until the last possible moment," said Andronicus, turning to look down at him.

"You don't ******** up the city, or come at a civilian with malicious intent, I won't get in your way. Besides, I ain't gunna attack someone who obviously already in pain. That's not... fair." She chuckled at herself again, shaking her head. Fair. As if his organization would play 'fair' when the time came. As if Order would play fair.

Fair wasn't an option in this war. Not anymore.

"My brother always said that 'fair' is a construct for the weak. He's not very nice, but like... He grew up in the woods basically. Well, we both did." Is that giving up too much? Ochre shrugged nonchalantly, though inwardly he questioned his ability to blurt too much information. "But uh, I'm not really in the mood to fight anyway. I mean, there's nothing really that anyone gains out of that right now. Even if I drained your energy or punched your lights out or something... Ow." He paused, and pressed fingers to the bridge of his nose.

"If you reconsider joining and we run into each other again, I can hook you up. But I'm gonna need to call it quits tonight, because my brain just wants to explode I guess. This s**t is so annoying. I'm gonna lay down for sure." Already he was thinking of his home with Porsha, and her comfortable couch, and her disgustingly cute cat, and a cup of hot tea. But he couldn't think too hard about it, else he might accidentally teleport straight there. And that wouldn't do; the first time it happened, Porsha lectured him for his stupidity. He lacked the lengthy leash to keep making those kinds of mistakes.

"It was good meeting you, though. And thanks for the drugs. They actually helped a lot." They left Ochre with the ability to think again, for one.

In a last gesture of peace, Ochre held his hand outward for a quick shake. He wouldn't blame the squire if she turned it down - his hand looked marginally crusted over with blood - but the offer held the importance.

She regarded him for a moment. Green eyes flickered from his face to his hand and back, deciding. In a single moment, she could set herself on a path she did not want to go down, a path that ended in destruction and heartache. Or she could loose a valuable ally and contact. To her, it felt as though the whole of her future work in the city depended on this one moment, this one single action. Would she tie herself to one side or the other, when she wanted to walk the middle road?

(But then, who was to say the future didn't change, something come along that changed her path yet again.)

Andronicus clasped his hand with her own, and shook it.

"If ya ever need more, I patrol around here most of the time, just hit me up. Get some sleep, yeh?" said the squire, smiling at him for a moment. She released his hand and disappeared off the roof with a wave of her hand, gone into the night.
