Westward Bound had found himself with a spare hour to dedicate to foal-watching. He didn't mind this: it was, it seemed, an easy token. He wasn't at all a childrearer, but they seemed pretty fond of him regardless, and he watched the Mother's Club's foals nod off, a strange feeling bubbling in his chest. He'd seen his own children age, of course, and Westfen's...but it was strange to see so many different sorts of children, gathered in the same spot. They weren't so different, when they were young. But each species had adapted differently to their own climate, had they not?

Well. He was certainly given a lot of time to ponder this, since all the foals were doing was sleeping.

5. Time passes quickly as you play with the foals. There are no mishaps and Lionhearted returns from her break with a grin. +1 token!

User ImageEmerald had no experience with kids, but she did have a lot of energy and imagination, so she decided she'd gI've the doe a break to do some exploring of her own. "I can watch them a while." she says.

They spend their time playing tag, catch me find me, games of chase and monsters. Emerald making up silly songs as they run and jump about. Piling the snow up high, Emerald shaping the top to look like a kin's head, the foals working the bottom to look like legs and tail.

When Lionhearted returns, Emerald gives her a confused look. "I thought you were going?" she asks, feeling as tho the other had just left.

23 December

Vanish you poor thing. The buck had raised a fine litter on his own but during this winter event, it seemed that no matter what he did or tried to do to put smiles on foals' faces, they just end up crying their eyes out!

Vanish at this point gave up as Fierce Love comes charging to calm the bab down. He sulked and just wandered off. Maybe his daughter would have more like with this babysitting dealio. He for sure won't do it again.

"There now daddy," she cooed to calm her father down, "why don't you stay and rest today? I will go take care of the foals," she told him, trying to cheer him up.

Vanish got all teary eyed as he watched his daughter take over his duty. He wanted to tag along but knew that he would just get in the way. In the end he just nodded at her and remained laying on the ground, ready for a short nap.

Timeless galloped over to where she was needed and circled around the small litter of foals. To her, they seemed calm and sleepy. And very cutely closely huddled next to one another. "Aww, you guys are so cute," she whispered and started to hum them a bedtime song. "Sweet dreams," she whispered to the foals as they slept peacefully and guarded by no one but herself.

"Let's play pass the bear," said First to Strike, the moment the Mother's Club representatives had left. It began well (although if he was going to be honest he wasn't sure why they'd let him handle kids again. Well, who cared?): they pushed Grumble between them as the game went on.

But then someone started crying. And it only got worse from there.

First to Strike didn't understand. Grumble was a nonviolent bear. What was wrong?

Eventually Fierce Love caught wind of what was going on, though, and pulled the foals away. First to Strike had been having fun, though! Well, until the crying had started.

First to Strike was always eager for a captive audience, so he'd been pleased to find this booth again. "Yes, children," he said, trying to look like he knew what he was doing.

The same kin was in charge as yesterday. Gulp. After a bit of a glare, they apparently decided he passed muster, and they let him in.

Unfortunately, First to Strike tended to be a little over-enamored with Grumble, which meant. Ah. He wasn't neglecting the foals! Didn't kimeti just kind of abandon their young while they were still larvae? Sure, yes.

He was still scolded and sent away tokenless for his efforts, though. Boo.

False Light wandered into the next booth...and cringed. A token...for babysitting? Babies? She has never seen the appeal to children except to carry on a legacy of those who would reap evil upon the swamps. But other then that, False Light didn't think she would be good enough to take care of children.

Ten minutes later, proved her right. She had the snot nose booger crying and weeping as one of the club members, Fierce Love took over, growling at her.

She growled back at Fierce Love as she left. the booth to wander on. If she had children of her own, she would make sure the father takes care of them.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. When his daughter came back telling him of the good news, it gave him a little bit of hope to give it a try again. The three days in a row failing to cheer up baby foals made him quite upset.

Vanish got up and found his way to the babysitting area. Fierce Love was watching him as he approached the foals, in case he is going to be a flop again.

When he looked down at them, he was met with a cluster of sleepy foals, curling up and ready for their afternoon nap. "Wow, someone must have tired them all out badly. They did such a good job..." he whispered to himself.

He approached them very quietly and nose kissed each one of them, as he guarded them. Vanish did not want to try to do anything else, not even making any noise. Not even humming, scared that his terrible babysitting streak might return again. He just stood there and watched the foals and the environment that surrounded them for potential predators. Every once in a while, he would circle around them, checking up on the sleeping foals to make sure they stay warm and safe.

The buck's eyes teared up as he gets to experience how it's like to be able to take care of other kin's babies.

2. All the foals gather around and you tell a marvellous story! (If you type out the story in 500 words or more, you can use it for legendary story requirements!) +1 token!

User ImageWalk this Road had little idea what to do with children, she'd had very little contact with them even on her long journey. But she did know they like stories, so she decides to share one she'd made up on her long journey. Created during those times she was so travel worn her mind started to day dream.

The kids were already settled down, the days playing having worn them out. "Listen close darlings, this is a story of a secret treasure, and the kin who sought it." she starts.

"Many years ago there lived a Kimeti, so long ago his name has been lost. Many have given him a new name, each different from the last. Me? I call him Raider, for he was known to steal treasures, and hoard them away in a secret cave by the sea." she pauses to take a breath, eyes scanning the children and happy to see them listening intently.

"Raider was a greedy buck, always wanting what other kin have, simply because he did not own it. So he'd sneak into dens, and tribe territories, taking whatever he wanted. He was so skilled he hardly ever got caught, and so slick of tongue that when he did Raider could talk himself out of getting in trouble." another pause for breath, gathering her thoughts, trying to decide exactly where an epic battle should be placed.

"One night he was pilfering from a tribe along the sea, filling a great turtle shell full of shells, pearls, gems and coral. Seeing the tribe had a salamander, one of those rare flame creating kind, he was trying to figure out how to capture it.." she leaves off there a moment, taking a breath.

"That's when Raider saw her. The most beautiful doe he'd ever laid eyes on. Her pelt was the color of pearls, shining black and pink and gold. Lovely teal and jade markings swirling around her throat and ankles, long beautiful hair the color of moonlight streaming down to the ground." she gets a little carried away describing the doe, who is by far her favorite part of this story.

"Immediately he knows he wants her, the most beautiful Kimeti of all time, and, he realizes, the tribe leader's daughter. He'd been watching the tribe for many long weeks, and had seen her before, but by day her father keeps her wrapped in wolf hides, hiding her full beauty. And Raider doesn't blame him, he'd hide her too, keep her beauty all to himself." Walk this Road clears her throat, getting up to drink from a nearby pool, it's been much too long since she's talked this much, she'd forgotten how thirsty it is.

Returning and settling herself back down she starts where she'd left off, speaking in a gruff masculine voice. "Darling you're as lovely as moonlight on the sea, would you be kind enough to grace me with your name?"

Turning, taking the place the doe must be in, she speaks in a soft, melodic voice. "Why should I share my name with a thief?"

"Thinking quickly, Raider invents a story to trap her." she switches back to Raider's voice and continues. "Your father asked me to hid the tribe's most valued treasures. But the shell is too full to take alone, would you help me?"

Back to her narrator's voice, "The doe looks unsure, suspecting he may not be telling the truth. Her father hadn't told her anything of this, thought he'd not told her much of anything lately."

Assuming the doe's voice again, "How can I be sure father did make this request?"

"Raider nods, turning to rummage in the shell. Facing the doe again he shows her the tribe's token, the original kept only by her father. He'd managed to sneak it out of the chief's den earlier that day when most the kimeti were off hunting." Turning herself, pawing at clump of snow behind her, Walk this Road turns back around, a leaf clamped between her teeth, letting the foals imaginations turn it into whatever charm or token they choose.

Sliding back into the buck's voice, "The chief lent this to me, to prove to anyone who might see that I am about his business."

Clearing her throat Walk this Road switched back to the doe's voice, "I see, where is this cave? Is it far? I shouldn't be gone long, father won't be happy about that."

Acting as tho she's returning the token to the shell, Walk this Road replies in Raider's voice. "Not far, no. Just a short walk along the beach."

"Nodding the doe comes closer, helping Raider push the shell. Together they pushed it down to the beach, following the shore for many miles." Walk this Road bends her neck, acting as though she's pushing the shell, her horns clearing a path in the snow.

Standing back up she speaks in the doe's voice, "Are you sure it's not so far? It seems like we have been gone all night."

"Just up this hill, almost there." she says in Raider's voice. Turning and pushing her imaginary turtle shell up a hill of snow. "This cave here, the chief told me to hide it deep. Come, there will he time enough to return you before dawn."

Coming back down the snowhill, Walk this Road resumes her own voice and continues narrating. "The two push the shell into the cave. Raider knows this cave well, having spent most of his life there. He leads her down many twisting tunnels and passages, deeper and deeper until the doe has lost all sense of direction."

"Finally they reach the treasure trove, filled with many objects Raider had taken. Turtle shells, seashells, gems, pretty stones, dried flowers, skeletons of many kinds, everything and anything he'd desried. All stolen from other kin." she stops a moment, letting the children envision the cave.

Giving an evil chuckle she speaks in Raider's voice, "And now I have you as well, my beautiful."

"You promised to return me!" she says, giving the doe's voice a bit of panic.

"Raider grins at the doe, a very unsettling look in his eyes, walking to the tunnel entrance, blocking her exit." Walk this Road continues the story, seeing now many of the foals are struggling to stay awake for the end.

Clearing her throat, she nods to the littlest ones falling asleep. "Time for bed I think. I'll return later to finish the tale." she tells them, the ones still awake enough to protest give a few "awes" and "Why not now?" But Walk this Road just shakes her head, smiling slightly. "I shouldn't keep you up all night, and the rest of the story is just as long as the start."

Letting the kin running the booth tuck the kids in, she collects her token and heads off to find her own spot to sleep.

Vanish had regained some of his optimism back after failing three times to calm little foals down. Having experienced such a resilient event yesterday, he came back to the babysitting ground and went to hear his task.

Watching over foals again? Oh yay, he loved that. Quietly he trotted over towards them, not wanting to scare them away, and he noticed that this batch too was already worn out and tired. Whomever was playing with them sure knew how to tucker them out.

The buck sighed and smiled. Today though, he decided to lie down on the ground with them and hum a song to lull them to sleep faster.

First to Strike was bored. He and Grumble hadn't really needed to do any rescuing lately, and it seemed like the heavy presence of legendaries here generally kept real brawls to a minimum. So, yes, it was back to the foals for him. What could he say? They shared his fun-loving spirit.

Well. Some of them did, anyway. Some of them were bear-haters, which really meant that First to Strike couldn't bear (ha!) spending time with them. The others, though? He definitely recognized some of these foals from that snow fight. And the previous day had led to a little bank of snow being formed near the babysitting area.

It didn't really require much thought, then. "Incoming!" called First to Strike, winking at the nearest foal. They all got the idea quickly.

Quiet Moon had been on a break - going from booth to booth to regal the festivities while there was still time, but she couldn't help but stop by, the dark Watcher peeped her head in. A gaggle of foals were waiting for someone to watch them - or that's what she mused as she went to give Lionhearted a rest, flashing a smile to them all.

It didn't take too much time, though, and she had kept them on their toes - playing with them and just giving them time to be themselves.

She loved being a mother, and a Mother.

Maybe she should go out and play games now!
