Maggie laughed at how enthusiastic he seemed to be about her answers and it made her cheeks flushed a dark red. She squirmed and then let her nose crinkle up before busting out laughing all over again, disrupting the class. The teacher snapped her name and her head ducked down behind her painting, but she didn't stop smiling. It was a few more seconds of that before she shook her head at his question. "N-no. It's just me and my dad,.." Her head tilted to look at him again and she shrugged a little. Having a sibling would complicate her life, she thought selfishly. She'd have to change who she was to not make her siblings life more complicated and that in turn, would lead to a path she didn't really want to think about. "How many siblings do you have?"

Caelum's smile seemed to spread a little wider to hear her laughter. It upped his mood tenfold and he tapered off her giggles with some chuckles of his own.
"Oh, that's pretty cool, being an only kid. All of the presents go to you," he said, nodding his head. "It's just me and my bro, Conner. So just one. We're not, like, super-super close, but he's pretty cool, too. Takes for-ever in the bathroom, though." He rolled his eyes. "Hey, where do you live? Far from school?" He picked up a paintbrush that was on the easel and toyed at the bristles, fraying them. "I live kinda far, but I still have to walk. Well, skateboard. That takes forever, too. If we, uh, live in the same direction or something. We should walk to school together. If you, um, wanna. You don't have to, though."

Maggie guessed it was cool. She was lonely sometimes, but she didn't mind it over all. Some things would be really hard to explain! "I don't live far, no! My daddy brings me. He doesn't like it when I try to walk home yet, despite me not being a baby anymore." Well, in age. In personality she still whined and got her dad to do a lot of things for her. He made her breakfast, picked out two outfits for her to wear and she chose between them. He was offering to walk her home? Maggie's face lit up but she nodded eagerly. "I'll just have to text my dad and tell him. He'd be okay with it because I wouldn't be alone." She giggled a little more and just swayed in her chair. He was nice. "Class is almost over, so... I don't think you have to paint anymore."

"Oh, that's great, awesome!" he said, almost cheered. "If he's okay with it, then yea, it'd be fun! Really fun! Do you know how to ride a skateboard? I could totally teach you if you don't."
The boy had been at such a loss talking to his new companion he hadn't considered the time. His smile seemed to falter just a bit to hear that the class was almost over despite his reluctance to art. Still, the chance to actually walk to school with someone made his lonely days seem a little brighter.
"Really? Darn. I know I'm gonna get yelled at." He eyed his unfinished piece. "But whatever. It's just one time." Before the teacher arrived, Caelum quickly pulled out his phone, and flashed the screen to Maggie. "Hey, can I get your number? So I can contact you if, like, I'm unable to walk or something? If you wanna, I mean. I understand if you'd have to ask your dad first."

Maggie started to put up her own art supplies. Cleaning brushes and gathering her pallet to go wash out at the sink. When her friend seemed occupied with his painting and phone, she did that. When she came back, he had flashed her his phone screen and asked for her number. Without really thinking bout it, she entered her number and then name before grinning. "If you ever can't walk uhm. You can call me...? My dad would have to bring me if it's really far, obviously. Uuuh, I do have a bike if you're close enough? But you can.. text for whatever." It wasn't like she had people she friends that texted her all the time. Usually she was too wrapped up in painting. "I mean, friends do that.." A helpless look appeared on her face as she gave that lame finish and just rubbed a hand over her face. Of course Maggie wanted to apologize for it. She didn't mean to be lame. Apologizing would just get really awkward.
