The first post says that we can roll 10 times and 15 times per day. Which is it?

There must have been a gust of wind that had nudged the 'cicle off its mark.

Distant Thunder squinted at the elaborate set-up, trying to comprehend the instructions that the doe in charge gave. After watching the other kin go at the seemingly never-ending icicle stash and - though he mentally critiqued their form and aim - actually succeed, he puffed up with Kiokote pride, flexed his muscles and decisively made for the cave. He wanted to be impressive with his first shot. With the keen eye of a hunter, he sought a piece long and light, for what he felt would make for good targeting. Thunder reached up to snap the ideal icicle off with a bite, and sternly carried it to the log. Dramatically, he climbed atop the log, training all his concentration upon the target. He shifted, turned the icicle in his mouth and let it fall to fate.

"AGAIN!" He demanded, stomping away to the cave - annoyed, he retrieved yet another icicle with vigour. Perhaps it needed more finesse in aim? One eye closed, he shifted his gait. A little more to the left...

Denied once more! This was not good for the buck's ego. The bite of ice upon his mouth was not of concern, though he did try to hold it as far away from his tongue as possible in order to prevent what he had heard of as the dreaded 'tongue-stick.'

Oooh, that shot was absolutely no good. As much as he had gotten quite quickly fed up with the game, he had to recover from the shame of the previous shot. Accursed wind! Accursed icicle! He had to apply some discipline to keep the ice in line. Once more to the cave, in and out, to evaluate his position and drop the icicle.

A little closer! He peered at its final rest, but alas, was disappointed to find it off the line. Part of him wanted to shove the bloody thing inwards, but his pride wanted to achieve it fair and square. That, and integrity, of course. Integrity kept him tromping to and fro once more, to try his luck against this dastardly 'game.'

Thunder tried not to be disappointed by this almost-there attempt, but rather, encouraged himself that somehow, despite this strange luck of the draw, he was almost there. Just a little more to the right, perhaps? Right. It was to the cave and back again. He leaned to the right.

No, left. At this point, Thunder felt his emotions seesaw between valiant determination and raging incredulity. What, pray, was the point of this if the damn wind and icicles kept defying him?! A voracious fling of the icicle sent some flakes flying.

- and "AT LAST!" he roared upon the success of his seventh attempt, galloping around it, almost rearing and grinding the icicle into the ground, but at the last moment, recovering his mind and holding back in consideration for others who needed the targets. He did, however, toss his mane with triumph, and nodded to himself as he reexamined his excellent handiwork. That would be something to remember. Lean to the left.

Snapping Crocodile broke off a piece of an icicle and stepped up to the log, but as he tried to aim, he bit off the end of the icicle and watched it fall. "Oops," he said as he chewed the icicle end, making a sickening crunching sound.
