Participant: Shiny Thing
RP Response: "You bet I do!" This game looked much more promising than the frog kissing Shiny Thing had just come from. There was still a trace of the frog's back end hanging around. But her failure there hadn't crushed her spirits yet and she was ready to take on a new challenge. And it didn't look like that much of a challenge either. Just kick the coconut into one of the hoops, right? Shiny Thing squinted at the hoops, shuffling around in hopes of lining her kick up right, and then laid into the coconut with a hoof.

It made it through! Granted, it was the largest hole, but she still made it. Obviously her luck was on the rise now. "Yeah! Come on, I'm ready for another!" The success had her pumped now and she lined up her next shot in the same manner as before. This time she kicked a little harder, hoping it would be just enough to get the coconut into the higher, smaller hole. Unfortunately, she underestimated her own strength and watched the coconut go soaring over the hoops entirely and slam into a tree. Shiny Thing puffed up her cheeks in frustration and looked to Ducks. "One more try! I can get it this time!" Things had gone so well the first time, she didn't want to end on a sour note.

As the coconut rolled towards her, Shiny Thing stared intently at the smallest hoop. She was going to get it this time. Taking a deep breath, she kicked the ball and watched tensely as it flew through the air...And go right through the target! She yelped and jumped around excitedly, pleased with the outcome.

RP Response: Blue Blood wasn't sure the point of playing with coconuts, but hey, he wouldn't pass up the opportunity. He was a determined sort, and as the coconut was sent towards him he gave it an experimental kick with his hoof.

It was weird to him as he mostly eat the nuts and what if it cracked mid kick? That hardly- Still he tried. One goal of three attempts later, he'd come to one conclusion. That for one thing, coconuts were tougher than he'd expected. And, if he wanted to get better, he'd need to practice. Given a coconut to do so, he kicked it away from the booth, determined to become better.

Participant: Eating Fireflies
RP Response: If dropping icicles on a target wasn't his game, perhaps this one was. After all, he'd kicked many rocks as he wandered through the forest and swamp and those had been by accident. How difficult could be be to kick a coconut -- so much bigger! -- on purpose and make it through one of those hoops?

Well. Harder than it would seem, as evidence by his first and then his second try. Determined not to miss every target he attempted for the day, Eating Fireflies ground his back teeth together as he prepared for his final kick. He could, he *would*, score something today! As the coconut tumbled through the air, his last hope, the power of his will behind it, he chanted a little mantra of hope to encourage it on.

Maybe that was what it took! The coconut went through the little hoop and Eating Fireflies gave a little -- very little -- and still mostly dignified hop of triumph. He still had a little skill at least. It owuld do.

RP Response:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. *hiccup* Drunken Lullaby walked past the booth with coconut. She loved coconuts!

"HI THERE!" she grinned, her voice too loud. "WHATCHA GOT?"

When the game was explained, she nodded sagely to every word as if she was paying attention to them. All she really wanted was that coconut. Maybe she could crack it open and get to the sweet goodness in side.

The doe charged the coconut the first time. Her hooves got tangled and she fully on her face. She still had enough momentum, her horns hit the coconut just right… and it launched somewhere. “D’AW! WHERE’D IT GO!” Drunken Lullaby looked around. It rested just shy of some hoop-looking thing.

Another coconut came in front of her. “OPEN!” she hollered, and smashed a hoof on the edge of the thing. It popped in to the air and bounced rather dramatically. This time it got pretty close to a hoop, but it still didn’t go through.

Wow, another coconut came to her. This was great! She tried both hooves this time and the coconut went sailing through the air. Oh, nice! Maybe it would hit the hoop and break in two. Nope, nowhere near it…

This time nothing came to her. She looked all around. “WHAT? NO MORE?” Bummed she wasn’t going to get her coconut water or meat, she walked on in search of some mushrooms…

Participant: Dance the Night Away
RP Response: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Dance the Night Away heard some cheering over by a clearing, so she moved her way over there. It must be something good as there were a lot of kin playing the game. Sitting back she watched to see what it was all about. After the first couple did their kicking of the coconuts, Dance wasn't sure she was made for such a game. The kimeti doe was well built and that totoma...Well needless to say, he looked ready for anything. Dance was about to step away when another acha went up and tried. It gave her some hope.

"I want to try!" Prancing up to Ducks as she waited for her chance. As the coconut was kicked towards her, Dance moved it between her front hooves. It felt sort of natural for her to be doing something like this. Feeling the time was right, the blue doe kicked at it with her front hoof. She watched in amazement as it went through one of the smallest loops! "Did I really do that??!" She was so excited she almost forgot her next two coconuts to kick.

Feeling confident she could kick it into the small loop again, Dance actually kicked with her eyes closed. When she opened them after connecting with the coconut, she jumped with glee as it went in where she wanted it. "I could do this all day." For a doe who never once kicked anything she was getting a bit cocky with this game. With the final coconut with her, she felt that giving it a kick with her back to the loops would be good enough. Well not as good, when she turned around, she watched it fly through the largest loop. Dance's ego deflated just a little with that kick.

RP Response: He'd been practicing, kicking the coconut around until one kick had sent it into a rock, cracking it open, (and while delicious, it had prevented any further practice). But with a bit more practice under his hooves, Blue Blood had come back, aiming to gain a better score. Shaking off his mane to get his head in the game, he snorted, moving to get the hairy nut through the smallest hoop. When he scored he puffed his chest out, feeling quite proud. He might have missed another hoop all together, but he did score again in the medium hoop. Overall, he was very proud. Ha! He was indeed, better than the average buck.

He murmured, shy and coughed before hightailing it to the Totoma to get the three coconuts to kick.

Ugh, he was not good at this game, not good at this game at all. At least he had done better than last time, but he still couldn’t get the first ball into any hoops. It might have been just his nerves though. Heehee…
Hopefully, she would like his egg though?

((You can quote me either here or in the main thread or pm me with either your mato.pe page or a handful of kin you'd like me to chose from for your art prize!))

Ducks was ready and raring to go for day two of her tryouts... i mean festival booth. Nut Smuggler had watched over the last few players the evening before while she toured the booths and now she was returning the favor, letting him go have his fun while she handled things here.

Ducks didn't mind a quieter morning as cold kin took their time warming up. She kept up her energetic spirit just fine doling out teasing enthusiasm, encouragements and tokens as kin of all kinds came to play her game.

It was a bit odd though as one kio she remembered from yesterday approached her rather than her targets and deposited a gift at her feet. "I... uh... Thank you?" She cocked her head sideways as he immediately rushed off to take his turn. Well that had been odd. The egg looked edible enough... even if the short trip had left it's presentation a bit wanting. Why would he have done that though? Ducks carefully folded up the leaf it was carried in and took it aside to eat later once Nut Smuggler was back and she could get a break.

RP Response: Algae figured he could toss a coconut or two, he was no Totoma but he was strong enough, or so he thought. He did get a little nervous hearing the loud cracking sound as the coconuts hit the heads of the kin who were in line before him. But he really wasn't expecting how heavy they'd be! The first one made him flinch, causing him to miss the hoops entirely. The second one he braced himself for a little better, and sent it sailing through the big hoop. But that third one really left a mark, and also missed. Algae stumbled away shaking his head at Duck's offer of a coconut as a consolation prize. He didn't want to see another coconut again for a long time.

She was a little rusty when it came to such games, but she'd give it a shot; after all, there was certainly no harm in trying. The first kick made the smallest loop. She smiled a little; while this was very new to her, she was managing! The second kick was a little too enthusiastic; it went extremely long, but missed the goal entirely. The third kick, however, was even a little better than the first! She smiled broadly at her efforts. This was pretty fun! She'd have to do it again sometime- though she wasn't the best at it now, practice made perfect after all!

The trash talk didn't seem to carry through to her play, though. Her first kick went wide - but the furry brown coconut still went through the largest hoop, and she eyed her handiwork with approval. What a great competitor she was! But maybe she'd kick a little harder, this next time. That'd certainly help her score in one of the smaller hoops. That meant more loot, right?

Appropriately, she ran back a few paces before running straight at the - uh - the -

Ah. She'd missed the coconut. She shuffled back sheepishly and kicked it lazily forward. It rolled along, coming nowhere near the assembled loops. That was okay! There was a third coconut. She'd certainly send this one flying!

...well, that'd been right, at least. She'd kicked the coconut right over the loops. Um...

"Practice makes perfect, I guess," Lily shrugged. But she narrowed her eyes at Nut Smuggler and Ducks - "I'll be back tomorrow."

(The coconut, she found, was delightfully sweet. Mm. She'd definitely come back.)

RP Response:

Never one to give up when he set his mind to a thing, Eating Fireflies made his way back to the booth set up for kicking goals. He hadn't done very well the day before, but that just meant there was room for improvement. Assuming he could figure out exactly how to make the coconuts go where he wanted them.

He managed, barely, with the first kick, sensind one coconut spinning wildly through the largest hoop. The second and third, however, did not reflect well on him, bouncing off the hoops but not wobbling through. He hadn't thought he was that rusty when it came to playing games, but the proof in many of these booths was being obviously shown. Eating Fireflies needed to get in more practice if he wanted to perform well.

Well. He was just going to have to come back another day and give it another try. Maybe continually trying would be exactly the practice he needed. Maybe tomorrow, he would have remembered how to aim. Maybe tomorrow, he wouldn't embarrass himself again.

A game with running and kicking? Now here was a game that Thunderstep could get behind. After the humiliating day he'd had, he needed something to boost his spirits. Thunderstep lines up the first shot and gives it his all. The first coconut slices through the smallest loop, getting a laugh out of the buck at his success. Thunderstep manages a grin before lining up his second shot, the kick goes sideways though, completely missing all the loops.

Undeterred he lines up a third shot, taking more careful aim for a sure thing. Thunderstep watches proudly as the third nut flies through the medium sized hoop. His spirits thoroughly lifted, he goes to theank the pair, and promises to return the next day. "Now this is a good booth."

RP Response: Focus. That was the name of the game. Breathing at just the right time. Not letting anything distract him. Today? Today he would kick one little coconut through one round hoop. At least. Ideally, he would kick all three coconuts through three tiny hoops and prove that despite his age and the many kin who could claim a drop of his blood in their veins, he hadn't lost his edge.

The first coconut sailed through the biggest hoop. The second bounced off the rim. With a grunt, a deep breath and an impressive frown, Eating Fireflies kicked again and sent the last through a smaller hoop. A victory! Not perfect, but better, and he would always take that over the alternative.

All the merriment that was going around helped urge him to take part, and while he was typically terrible at physical games that did not involve him ripping apart beasties to gather pelts, the games were fun, even on the off chances he lost. Given basic instructions, and coconuts to try with, The kin kicked it around with his hooves until he was confident, darting forward to score not just one goal, but several into various sized hoops. Puffing up with a bit of pride, he nodded, taking his token with a grin.
