It was finally time to put those vocal lessons from her youth to the test. She knew she wasn't the absolute best at singing but she was going to give it her best shot, regardless of what her tutors had told her. She tried her best to listen to the others that went before her before she had her own shot at the song.

She figured she had done rather well, as she advanced from platform to platform, singing to the various ghouls and boils that they were 'performing' for.

Serafina had quickly learned that in Halloween, it was never worth questioning what happened. There was always some way that something would happen somehow.

But that didn't stop her from doing so anyway, walking into the stadium, completely baffled by the fact that they were apparently outside and it was snowing now. She reached a hand to test to make sure the snow was real, but sure enough ... did these Christmas creeple just have a way to produce snow magically? Probably. Perhaps it was a bit like their snow demons and ice elementals or other cold creatures...

She let out a deep breath. Serafina knew she actually had not done all that badly up until this point. She could definitely do this, right? She wasn't sure she was a good singer--honestly, she had never really tried outside of singing along with the scaredio or some streaming music, but perhaps she could find their favourite songs and not even have to worry about her voice? She shuffled her feet nervously.

Well, it was time to find out, she supposed.

Clearing her throat partially out of nerves and partially to prepare herself for what was ahead, Serafina first made her way over to Cheerheart the Elf. Cheerheart was an odd name, but she guessed that kind of weird name was probably normal outside of Christmas Town. Or in Christmas Town. What kind of Christmas song would this elf like?

She swung through the book and eventually found The Twelve Days of Christmas, which sounded about as right as anything else. She squinted at the music, tested her voice out, and attempted the song, even though her voice was a little shaky. It seemed the elf mostly didn't mind her nerves, giving her a decent score.

Deciding this wasn't so bad, Serafina made her way out of that path and down the next one, finding herself in front of a rather merry reindeer by the uninspiring name of Delbert. In comparison to a lot of the Christmas Town names she had heard up until this point, Delbert was surprisingly normal. Perhaps he would appreciate something normal? Serafina wasn't sure what qualified as normal, but she tried 'Holly Jolly Christmas.' It was unfortunate that Delbert was not really looking for that song, but she tried her hardest, and the reindeer gave her some extra points for sounding quite pleasing to the ears.

Or at least somewhat pleasing, anyway. Serafina's brows furrowed. She shook her head to herself as she moved on to the third area, wondering how she had gone so wrong that time. She couldn't pull out performances like that! She needed to keep doing her Ghosts proud, and that definitely wasn't how to do it... She had to do better with this Snowman, so she flicked through the book and saw something about 'Jingle Bell Rock.' That didn't really seem to be right either, but Serafina kept straining her voice, and the effort was appreciated well enough to give her a decent score.

Her middling effort was frustrating, and she worried about what the other Ghosts might be thinking, but she kept pushing forward. The next creature she saw, a polar bear, appeared to be more of a Halloween creature in a natural form than a Christmas Town citizen, but its happiness quickly let on what it actually was. She decided on the song at the front of the book, first, but the growing horror on the polar bear's face made her panic and flip around her book for a different song. Then, she landed on 'I Have A Little Dreidel,' and gave it another shot.

To her surprise, it worked. The polar bear was nearly in tears when she finished, and she got the best possible score she could have gotten. Serafina cheered herself on, moving to the final area with an actual feeling of confidence for the first time perhaps in the entire competition.

It was too bad that came crashing when the next creature, a Dreidel as she was told, apparently was not into the same amazing song she had sung last time. Why wouldn't a Dreidel like a Dreidel song? Perhaps the Dreidel did not like the 'little' implication?

She was stuck pondering that for a while, but by now her throat hurt, and she was very thankful for the hot chocolate and a chance at a break. She would take it. Hopefully her score kept her Ghosts proud...

When handed a song book, Ignatius' first thought was that he didn't need no stinking song book. He would dazzle on his own.

It was the rational part of his brain, buried somewhere in the back of his consciousness, that reminded him that he had literally never heard a Christmas song in his life and was not, unfortunately, quite so amazing to be able to understand songs of another world without even once seen them. This came at a bit of a disappointment, admittedly. Ignatius liked to think he was the best at everything he came across, or at least he liked to puff himself up that way and stroll in with all the confidence of a leader of a passionate cause, like the Elementals of old that campaigned for their rights as more than just Reaper Tools--

It just occurred to him that most of his friends were reapers.

Ignatius shrugged, clearly not all that concerned about that, before strolling down the first path to come face-to-face with an extraordinarily cheerful elf. It was even within his name--Cheerheart, that sounded like a twisted scare bear more than anything else. Apparently he had a favourite song, but Ignatius didn't know it or necessarily care. He was confident his voice would carry him no matter what he sung at the elf.

It seemed he was wrong, for the elf was having none of it. In fact, he made his displeasure quite clear in a mediocre score. Clearly Christmas Town citizens didn't understand artful tones if they bit them right all in the--

Before Ignatius' mind could go on a cursing, bragging tirade, Ignatius found himself in front of a chubby reindeer who, of course, wanted to be sung at, too. That wasn't a problem! He flicked to the part of the book containing a song called 'Jingle Bell Rock,' and he decided to ham it up a bit, even playing a fake air guitar as appropriate. The fake air guitar may or may have not buttered up the reindeer, but whatever it was, it was clear that round went better than the last.

Next up was a snowman, and he decided that Jingle Bell Rock went so well last time, he would try again. This time, he was practiced, and so his voice was more trained as he sang. That was, perhaps, too boring for the snowman. The normally quiet snowman yawned at him, much to his disbelief, and shooed him off to bring in the next person. Ignatius found himself with only a middling score to show for it.

Perhaps no more Jingle Bell Rock for this next one. Looking at the polar bear as if she contained the answer, Ignatius extracted that answer and interpretted it as The Twelve Days of Christmas. It was unfortunate he was wrong in his guessing, and the bear frowned to show this, giving him a middling score because he sounded good and was singing, at least, unlike some of the others that had come through there.

Middling scores were not his style, and so, Ignatius strolled up to the Dreidelman, ready to prove that he was worthy of so much more than that. "All I Want For Christmas Is You," was not exactly the way to get to that point. The Dreidel quirked a brow, but didn't further question Ignatius' decisions, instead slapping him with another middling score, leaving him overall with a rather middling average.

Ignatius sighed. Well, at least he hadn't done terribly. For not knowing the songs at all, or their preferences, he actually did pretty well! Not spending much time down on himself, Ignatius took the hot chocolate and strutted out despite his mediocre scoring.

Ebele had been determined before, but now she was super determined.

She was sick and tired of losing so terribly! Ebele knew she was better than that. She was always the winner! She just needed to get into her competitive groove. Clearly she had not been competitive enough last time, so she would show it even more now.

This probably meant that anything she did towards the judges would honestly, probably, most definitely, be rather frightening.

That was probably why Cheerheart might have needed to cover his ears when Ebele stormed up to him, sucking in a deep breath. She flicked to a random page, only vaguely acknowledging the fact that the song was called "All I Want For Christmas Is You." She only really cared about that if the you was the same thing as a win. No, all she cared about was absolutely wowing the judge into giving her the score she wanted, and so, she screeched the loudest screech she had ever screeched, singing in what was the most out-of-tune song to grace Cheerheart's ears.

Perhaps he pitied her, but Ebele didn't appreciate the pity. A four?!

The next judge, a pudgy reindeer that looked far too happy, would clearly appreciate her stylings more. She would try to be Holly and Jolly for this Holly Jolly Christmas song, whatever that meant. How could one be a plant? A jolly plant, at that? She shook her head, before opening her mouth and letting out the most unholy screech of a song she could possibly muster.

It was horrific. That was probably why she was gifted with a two, of all things.

It only made her angrier. She was shaking and her face was red by the time she arrived at the next area, and perhaps it simply scared the snowman into submission. Then again, she had actually picked the snowman's favourite song, which was apparently "The Twelve Days of Christmas," so perhaps she just wanted to reward Ebele for picking the right song. Or perhaps she just wanted Ebele to stop.

Either way, it was a ten, and Ebele let out a victory screech before rushing out of this path and down a collision course with the bear. Someone finally understood her! Surely the bear would as well. She decided to go back to being Holly and Jolly, but she chose to sing the song in the same way she sung the Twelve Days of Christmas, which was to say she was hardly singing very well at all. Her score reflected that.

Hmph! She just needed to point them to the snowman. She understood!

Maybe it was the song that had won her points. The Dreidel might too appreciate the stylings of the song of The Twelve Days of Christmas. It at least made sense to her, even if it didn't seem any of the judges shared favourite songs. She was screeching again, of course, because honestly Ebele had no talent. It seemed that the Dreidel actually pitied her a bit, though, or perhaps he found her lack of talent charming in a very painful kind of way, and so he granted her the absolutely lovely score of three.

Which, honestly, just turned her red again, and she made her displeasure clear with a loud, "You should listen to the snowman more, he knows true talent when he sees it! I'm the best! You'll see!" Even as she had hot chocolate shoved into her hand and a medal placed over her head and around her neck, joining the other two participation medals, she kept screaming. "All of you Christmas people will see! You just don't understand Halloween talent! I am the most Halloween talented!"

Ebele was eventually convinced to leave, but it was only after considerable continued protests.

The strings of events began nearly noon and it was the third session for house cup. On the nice evening, before what the battle that AJ was most interested in was the caroling. Last year, the House Cup wasn't hold at the Last October, the tug-of-war had given him some good joys. Since the participants didn't know what they would be facing until the time come, therefore it was not a surprise to hear startled voices or cursing from the crowd.

Under the magical shroud, the stadium became a large clearing with the participants gathered under instructions. In front of them were what looked like a wood with five paths. The tail head stuck out its tongue to receive the fluffy soft snow brought down from the Stands, it didn't taste sweet as expected, it was disappointed. Meanwhile, they received a folder with six holiday songs written on each paper inside. AJ recalled the tail head changed the lyrics into food theme last year and chuckled. The boil moved his head up to the talking Liaison as she explained what they need to in this session. It seemed like something like singing contest, putting your skill, voice and of course the Christmas spirit you have on test.

Oh well, AJ shrugged. He was chill out most of the time with a meager excitement underneath. He would find something fun easily, but not getting excited about it. With a laid-back expression, the monster checked the songs he was about to sing, all were classical Christmas songs. Following it as it is wasn't AJ's style, so he planned to add some of his into those traditional songs.

Since it wasn't his turn to set off yet, he spent some times to collect his thoughts and think about the performance. Since the first participant walked into the wood, singing voices, good or bad began to fill up the area.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The creeple in front of him left for their fate and it was AJ's turn. The path was nothing comparable to the hurdle maze in the obstacle race. It was short and straight forward. Soon, he greeted the first judge, a midget elf in red and green. The candy cane and the glints caught the tail head's attention, with a face resembled one when it saw food. Thus it didn't hear the elf introduced himself as the director of Happy Factory #38, one specialized in toy making. The smirk on his face suggested to the pair he prided himself on it.

AJ immediately recalled his time at a toy-making factory which students were sent to be free labour. He twitched the corner of his mouth, it was not a happy memory at all. He simply wanted to do it quick before his festive mood was ruined. Randomly picking the song on the first paper, the duo sang a fair "All I Want for Christmas is You". He always thought that song have weird melody and didn't do the ups and downs well. The connoisseur shrugged and placed his hand on his hip, a comment of "so-so" was given before he asked them to leave when another student showed up.

----------------------------------------------------------
Leaving the first path, he dove into the one next to it. Waiting them was a deer that looked nothing like its species, on its bare horns that resembled a branch network was a green decoration balls that smoothly reflected a clear image of the student. With a friendly smile, it gave them its name and proudly told its identity as great, great, great, great nephew of Blitzen, one of the famous Santa Claus's reindeers.

Delbert cheerfully asked the student, "Have you heard of Blitzen? He's my great, great, great, great uncle pulling the Sleigh of the word famous Santa Claus! Our family's all proud of him, it's a pity I can't meet him but he looks so great in the photo -" The deer sat waggled his tail like a puppy, really, it didn't look like one.

AJ won't choose to cut the conversation if not they were in a competition and creeple were waiting behind him. "Oh oh, please start," he raised a hoof to gesture the student he could begin. He let the music play in his mind and tapped with his foot. "I had a little dreidel, I made it out of sand......." As the song went on, the deer joined in to tap his hoof against the ground. When it ended, the deer lighted up a mild smile, "The song is nice, thank you."

-------------------------------------------------------
At the end of the third path, they found a snowman. With a nifty hat and a blue printed scarf, they thought she was inanimate until she talked. Using her lanky hand to take off her hat for a proper greeting, informed them a name of Widdlewicks and her job as ice sculptor, the demure lady asked them to sing her a lovely graceful song.

AJ picked "The Twelve Days of Christmas", a repetitive song that played twelve times with addition each time. Patting his thigh, he hummed the prelude in a breezy manner. "On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me, a partridge in a pear tree." Then he added in claps for the second time, tapping with foot on the third time, and tongue click on the forth time with the help of the tail head. The song was finished with funny sounds and noises, giving it stronger vivid vibe. The judge was happy with his creative attempt and gave him a full mark of 10 points.

----------------------------------------------------------------
The giant polar bear shook a present box while waving a hand to AJ to stop him from singing the Jingle Bell Rock. Beth the Polar Bear told him that his family love the song too much and played it every damn day and requested for another song. Therefore, he sang a Holly Jolly Christmas but his judge seemed to be distracted by the present on his hand and gave him a fair score.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Their last judge was the Dreidelman, wanted to finish it quick, AJ repeated the All I Want for Christmas is You song with more emotions in his voice. He got a score higher than the first time as expected. Coming back to the clearing, he was offered a mug of hot chocolate (yum!) and another medal, and allowed to go, rest before the battle session started.

One more session and he could be freed, the demon mused, took a sneaky peek at the Stands that slowly showered by flurries of snows. It helped to block the vision of the audiences and he could feel the piercing glance from his mother less intimidating, not! He rubbed his cold nose and pulled his scarf higher around his neck, the uniforms were not made for keeping warmth.

Mellow took a yawn and almost bit on his tongue when the ghoul in front of him shoved a folder in his way. Hesitatingly, he snapped the folder and glared at it. He looked at the songs he was given and wondered how many times he actually sang in the past. Even having a nice young boil voice, the demon seldom sing but that day, he was forced to do so. He made an obviously grudging face at the talking Liaison, which was a female elf and cursed the party for thinking about this stupid activity. Normally, caroling was a traditional practice at the holidays, but it was meaningless to the equine demon. They didn't celebrate the festival at all.

His lemon eyes shifted to squint at the paths as they were mentioned, in his mind, they were all full of hidden traps. He folded his ears with a deadpanned face once they caught awful singing voices, the session had begun. One thing Mellow was glad about was the paths and their destinations were covered by dense leaves of tall trees, it provided a convenience for the boil that didn't wish anyone to hear him singing Christmas songs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mellow stared at elf and the corner of his mouth curved upward in the least magnitude. He didn't care if he was the director of a toy-making factory and he had many years of singing Christmas songs and heard the best voice. The taller Mellow felt his vanity satisfied and sang him a beautiful Silent Night song. His voice was calm but soft, like a whisper, like a tender assurance that everything's fine.

He was closing his eyes and indulged in the peaceful world he created, hoping that moment could last forever. What he didn't realize was the elf's eyelids dropped lower and lower and soon nodding and almost fell asleep. "I'm finished," said the demon, waiting a while and not getting any feedback. The elf snapped his head up and moved his Christmas hat back into position. He raised up the hand holding a candycane and put near his mouth. "Ahem." He cleared his throat and gave his comment. "That's not bad, your voice is not bad and you catch the emotion of the song, not bad. Not bad."

The elf looked flustered but the aloof demon had nothing to do with it, thus he nodded for a thank you and left. Four more songs to go, Mellow sighed and rolled his eyes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Greeting," chirped by the deer creature, raising up a hoof and beckoned him to get closer. He was the second connoisseur. Having a bright smile, Mellow didn't hate the male creature despite Delbert seemed to be slightly annoying, like his bird not-friend. One of his ears twitched in discomfort recalling his butt was poked without permission. He pulled himself back from it and noticed the deer hadn't finished his admiration essay of his great, great, great, great uncle Blitzen the Reindeer yet. He sighed softly, almost like a whisper that Delbert didn't catch.

Mellow patiently let him finish until he got nothing new to say, and asked if he could start singing. The deer apologized for the fever and nodded for approval. It was another Silent Night, even more peaceful with his ultimate wish that the world can be quieter. It brought together Mellow's strong wish and drove the deer to fall asleep completely. A sleep bubble formed under Delbert's nose and the demon stepped closer to put his hand onto its fluffy fur, the bubble burst and the deer blushed. He explained it was the lullaby his mother used to sing to him and he naturally felt sleepy.

The round lemon eyes as yellow as the demon's looked watery as he said it was such a lovely song and he loved it so much. He expressed his gratitude by giving Mellow one of his Christmas balls dangling on his horns, a green shiny one. "Thank you," said the quiet demon. The deer waved goodbye to Mellow excitedly, as if they made friends. Mellow made a few steps before he paused an turned around, "I believe you will be a great reindeer as your uncle one day."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mellow looked quietly at the snowman and the snowman looked back quietly, there was no exchange in words between them. When Mellow took a new path, that was what he encountered. The silence was pleasant to him until Widdlewicks broke it. "You might start now." As typical as an exam examiner, she folded her scrawny arms and announced with her cool voice.

The green haired demon didn't discriminate, he disliked female creatures equally. Therefore he planned to sing another Silent Night - "Stop. You are the Nth student sing me that song, it's not my favourite, pick another one." Mellow's tail swayed quickly for an emotion before he put the paper with Silent Night lyric to the back and sang the Twelve Days of Christmas. A repetitive song that fitted his calm mood, and he could easily catch each of the tones correctly. Until the fifth day, he showed the bizarre gold ring on his finger and eventually finished the long dragging song.

The demon didn't look happy when he sang but the snowman focus on the technique and voice more than anything. "Your voice's lovely, no major or minor mistakes and you're responsive. Eight points overall, added with two points as bonus for guessing my favourite." She gazed at his ring quickly and gave him a score of 10. "Full mark, you might leave now. Next!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mellow moved back and further and even further away from his forth judge. It - or she was too big for the demon's size. Named as a member for the security team for the Inter-holiday Liaison, Beth's strength was something you won't miss. Our tiny demon always feared of strong looking females, they seemed intimidating and forceful.

Finally noticed the existence of Mellow, the polar bear stopped shaking her giftbox and turned to face the small student. "Oh another one, would you like to sing me a song, cub?" He pressed his lips into a thin line, just maintained for a few seconds before it softened. The Holly Jolly Christmas was just average according to Beth, and she revealed it wasn't her favourite song. "What a shame, I love songs with the word Christmas better." As she finished, he heard a "yes" from behind, a ghoul wearing undead uniform was already waiting. Mellow gave the polar bear a blank look, despised of the obvious favourism through cheating and left without saying anything.

---------------------------------------------------------
His eyes might be a bit wide when he met with his final judge, it was a Dreidel with a smirky grin. "Welcome~welcome~little~friend," with his operatic thick voice, the Dreidelman, Ben talked to the demon. He was obviously a good singer when he won the Hanukkah's Got Talent but that wasn't Mellow's concern.

So he sang the song but in the mid-way, Mellow heard the snores and stopped to look at Ben. "Oh you finished?" With some swirls, the creature lay down stood vertically again. "Not yet," the demon replied in a flat tone. "Ohhhh never mind, the song is too boring to fit my taste, 2 points, you can go now. If I allow you to continue, I would fall into a dream and couldn't finish my job."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There, Mellow finished his performance and returned to the clearing to receive his hot chocolate and his third medal for participating. He wondered how his dragon friend doing and went off to find him for a short talk maybe.

Camilla arrived at the Caroling challenge pumped and ready to go! She'd eaten a good breakfast, had her nice warm spooky smelling shirt on, and had even done some voice exercises! -- She had taken chorus in scarementry. -- She was ready to go!

And so there she was, all bundled up and perfectly warm, walking down the path headed for her first caroling. Who she first came upon was a rather jolly, yet professional, looking elf. Smiling cheerfully, she picks one of the songs that seemed like it would be the cheeriest off the list and begins singing it. When she was finished, the elf before her raises a brow with a slight grimace... He did manage a smile however... It seems her cheeriness had impressed him at least... Still, after a moment he waves a hand and impatently shoos her on... Guess he didn't like Jinglebell Rock...

Disappointed but not disheartened, Camilla moves on down the path.

The next person she came upon was a reindeer! Turns out he was the great, great, great, great nephew of one of Sandy claw's famous reindeer! He also apparently liked fine cheeses... She wish she had some with her right now... Either way it was singing time! Picking another cheery sounding song from the list, the Dormouse begins singing as merrily as she could! Fortunately, that seemed to impress the distinguished reindeer at least a little! Politely he claps his hooves together and sends her on her way with a small smile.

It wasn't the best reaction, but it was something more then the last! It gave the Dormouse ghoul hope that things would get better!

A snowman awaited her at the end of the next path... Frowning slightly, Camilla wasn't quite sure what song to sing to a snowman... A rather silent one at that...Finally she picked I Have a Little Dreidel and sung it with as much cheer and charm as she could muster! Unfortunately... The snowman didn't seem to react to it at all... Frowning once more, she finally sees herself down the next path with a slight pout...

This was not going well...

Next she came upon a big, and rather impressive, polar bear. Unfortunately, she was in no mood for a super cheery song, so she choose one that seemed rather beautiful. She sung it as beautifully as she could, and while that seemed to earn points with the big white bear, it didn't seem to be what he wanted to hear. Shooing her along with at least a small smile, Camilla sighs as she heads down the next path...

She was almost done... This almost seemed worse then the quiz...

Finally, she comes upon a... Dreidel... Seems he was a popular singer taking Christmas by storm... Oh dear... She'd have to do really good to impress him... Taking a calming breath, Camilla wasn't sure what prompted her to sing Jinglebell Rock again but she did, and even better then the first time! Dreidelman was so impressed by her singing and her cheerfulness he spun several times in circles while congratulating her! It seems like she finally found the right song!

His reaction helped to cheer her up, and the medal along with the cocoa further helped. Despite being a ok singer, she had somehow picked all the wrong songs... Except for the special guess... Him she actually managed to impress... But, she had done her best and that was what was important!

She left the caroling feeling disappointed by her performance, but happy she at least succeeded once!

Megalovania was so pumped for this challenge!

Well. She was, until she heard that there would be singing. Ugh.

Marosa was excited to learn that he was going to go caroling, but was a little afraid. He remembered the last time his voice had broken, it had done damage.

The faerie hoped that he could keep it under control this time.

Sayael was still trailing after her brother, a good distance away.

She was glancing over her own sheet of music, making a face at it. Why did it have to be singing, of all things?

The sugar faerie was most definitely not in the holiday spirit.

The bouncy Kitsune took the music sheets offered to him as he came in, and leafed through them picking 5 songs he thought he had heard sang around town by some of the visitors from Christmas town. He wanted to be sure if nothing else he had some idea of what the tune should be for the songs.

The first song he sang was for an elf worker, he peeked nervously over the music sheet and started singing the all together too long song, The twelve days of Christmas Shiki skipped a couple days as he sang it, getting a tad bored himself through it, but at least it didn't make the elf too upset. Boy that was one huge song.

The second song was one that Shiki enjoyed singing, he even danced a bit, tails waving as he sang out Jingle Bell Rock. The tune was really catchy and tended to get stuck in one's head, and Shiki was no exception to the rule. The Reigndeer guy sure did seem to like it too. The Kitsune had a great time singing to him.

This time Shiki picked the wrong song. The snowman didn't seem to like his choice at all, and even if the expression didn't change it seemed rather let down that he had decided to sing it. How strange, he thought he was singing well, maybe the lyrics didn't go: "All I want for Christmas is Glue?"

This time Shiki knew before he even started singing he had chosen the wrong song, it was written all over the polar bears face, as he sang Silent night, the bear seemed to get bored, impatient and rather let down. He stopped singing as soon as all the clues set in and bowed his head saying he was sorry for being so stupid, maybe it was just the cute way his ears went down and his tails sank that got him any marks at all.

Since he had done so good he figured he would sing The twelve days of Christmas again but it didn't seem to go over as well this time as it had last time. Maybe the strange top guy.. Dreidel they called him, or something like that, didn't like this song, it was probably too long.

Overall he was sure he did terrible, and he bowed leaving the stage.
