Rep smiled gently at the mention of the beach. "It is really nice there, I like walking on the sand. and just drinking it in."
The mention of the mazes was once again like hearing about a stranger, faced with one now he would try to complete it directly and straightforwardly without deviating from the rules. He couldn't understand what there was to gain from that sort of thing.
"That sounds like a real shame." he said, and it was obvious he felt it intensely at the idea of being the cause of pain in others. "But I can understand people being in tough emotional places, I'm sorry that I hurt you, but I like, I'm glad like, whatever happened we seem to be moving past it now." He couldn't remember what had happened but he could guess in the general direction. What he'd seen of Jordan the other man did not deserve anything other than kindness. It was almost sad to think that whatever they had learned about one another was gone for him, and there was a moment he feared he might hurt him again.
"And I hope you'll keep me right if I ever look like I might hurt you again unawares."

"I like just lying on the beach too." Jordan smiled absently, thinking of it. There were hazards on the island that one had to be cautious of, but he still liked the beach as a place to be alone, or to have a private conversation, or to quietly unwind. He looked up, watching Rep's face as the other man spoke, and wondered again how long this was going to last. It was strange, listening to this familiar-unfamiliar version of his lover, a person who seemed to be both relaxed and rather gentle. Would the man he knew return? That was usually how this sort of thing worked. But if this was permanent, if this new personality was what he had now ... Jordan didn't know. He liked the Rep he knew, sometimes against his better judgment, and he liked the convoluted, edged games they played, and he liked being allowed to see sides of Rep that nobody else got. But in every world, in every iteration in which he knew Rep and Harrison, he loved them both, some essential underlying quality bringing them together again and again, and he thought that if this Rep was going to be here for any length of time, Jordan would care for him, too. Rep was different, and still himself, and it wasn't wise to think too hard about that, because that way lay madness. "I will," he said, gently, and reached out to touch Rep's cheek, a brief, light contact. "As long as you still want me around."

"I think I would sunburn if I lay on the beach too long." Rep said thoughtfully. "I would like it anyway though, I suppose I could wear some sun tan lotion, that would help right?"
He did look relieved that Jordan had agreed to help him and leaned into the touch subtly, unafraid of it and enjoying it purely for the face value of its physical enjoyment. "I do of course. You are great, and I mean it."
He poured himself a drink and took a sip of it, only to make a face. "Tastes pretty strange doesn't it?" he said. "It's not how I expected it."

"You do," Jordan agreed. "Sunscreen might help, though." Jordan let his hand linger a moment longer, enjoying the contact, feeling again the inexplicable magnetism that had drawn them together from the first. It brought him back again and again, that need to reach out, to touch. It was still there, when they were meeting for the first time again, in a way. "Thank you," he said, and the small, gentle smile lingered. "I didn't drink much for a while," he said. "Didn't like the sense of being out of control." He sipped again, thoughtfully.

"I don't mind being out of control." Rep said thoughtfully. "I trust myself I guess, I don't think I'd do anything to hurt anyone and if people see me acting a bit silly then that's all right with me too. I wouldn't want to get sick though so I'd be careful with that at least, I hear it can mess you up a bit."
He took another sip of his drink and tried to push away the memories (the only memories he had) of that other self that wasn't him who did horrible, horrible things when he was drunk just for fun. It turned his stomach but he knew it was not the kind of things he'd do, he just wanted to make friends and for people generally to have pleasant a life as it was possible to have here.
"I understand why other people might want to keep their control though, I just don't worry too much." he smiled a little mischievously. "I think that you'd be even sassier than usual with a little to drink and I bet that isn't a bad thing."
"I can also like, understand why you say we are ...well ..you know." he made a vague hand gesture. "I really enjoy you touching me, I almost asked for you to do it again there."

"Yeah, I try to be careful not to dehydrate too bad." Jordan licked the rim of the glass absentmindedly. "I've forgotten a few times when I got really smashed, though. Not great the morning after." He laughed a little. "I forget to watch what I'm saying. Sometimes that gets me in trouble." Understatement, but he didn't feel like explaining that one either. instead, he grinned. "It's always been like that, I think. For me, anyway. I wanted to touch you even when I thought you were just some a*****e."

Rep found himself staring at the way Jordan licked the glass and blushed a little. "Er, I suppose it wouldn't matter if I forgot at this point, so there is that. I don't remember any morning afters either. Probably also a good thing." he smiled. "I get to make all my own bad decisions again I guess, that or just make a few dodgy ones before Tracey makes me go back to how I was."
He did look curious though. "I can't even imagine the things you'd say if you didn't need to watch yourself, you are always so nice."
"And I am not an a*****e any longer I think, so you are even more free to touch me whenever you want."

Jordan's eyes slid sideways, taking note of the blush, and the corners of his mouth curled up in a rather feline smile. He sipped again, letting his mouth linger on the curve of the glass a moment longer than necessary. "May as well enjoy it while you're here," he agreed. He grinned, deliberately wicked, and reached out to trace his fingertips along the knuckles of Rep's hand. "You have no idea."
