To Whom it May Concern,
Hello! My name is Raiden. I am a male chimera who is looking to add a little one to my family. It is every orphans dream is to be adopted and I would like to make that dream come true. Ever since I heard about the orphanage I wanted to adopt a child. I will make sure the child will wake up every morning feeling happy, loved and always make sure they have a smile on their face. My old job was working part time at a local daycare so children absolutely love me and I know how to nurture them. I've always wanted a kid of my own but for some reason something told me to wait until the time was right and now that I have a stable job, I’m more than ready to adopt and call them my own. I currently work at a local café as a waiter and am able to provide my child with all the necessary needs in life. I’m also currently attending Grendel University to follow my dream in becoming a amazing singer. If there are any children in your orphanage who are looking for a loving father who will give them his all in order to make sure they feel loved everyday of there life I would love to hear back from you.
Thank you, for your time and I hope you consider me for adopting one of your children,
Sincerely Raiden

Callahan sat quietly at his desk in his home, looking over his text book. While he still had to study for University the Grimm wore a troubled expression. While it was the holidays, he couldn't shake the feeling that there were kids out there who did not have a place to be. His home felt empty. Lately he'd wondered about adopting a child in order to give someone else a chance at a better life. He'd grown up in an orphanage himself. He'd been passed off to the Academy and subsequently took too schooling all the way up to graduation.
While he couldn't really decide if he wanted to pursue a college education or not, he did know one thing. He had a two bedroom home, and the second room was merely collecting cobwebs. The more he thought about adoption, the more preparation to get his affairs in order. Callahan took steps to be ready; just on the off chance he was ever accepted. It had led to his cleaning the room out and getting a second bed along with a few other basic amenities. Callahan was a writer, and loved to produce works of fiction and make them come to life so to speak.
With a bit of consideration and a lot of debating on his part, the Grimm decided to go out on a limb. He'd had a discussion about children with his editor. He'd agreed how great being a mentor to someone less fortunate would be. When Cal got back from a meeting with his editor, it was not the latest project he had to finish on his mind. Instead, he'd decided to put pen to paper for an entirely different reason. The grimm's snowy white, black and grey spotted tail draped over his lap. He idly tapped his pen to the piece of paper while he contemplated what to write.
To Whom It May Concern,
Hello my name is Callahan, and I am a recently graduated senior from The House of Arkham. I will be attending Grendel University to study art. I work as a part time writer and column editor for my local newspaper. I myself have come a long way from having little to nothing. I am now able to afford my own home and consider attending university. I too know what it's like to grow up in an orphanage. I did not have a pack of my own, or siblings to play with. I was given to the Academy and grew up there.
While I never had it too hard, I wanted to give back to my community.
If I could somehow give a kid a place he/she/they could feel comfortable in, it would be my honor. While I have no partner of my own, I still believe it is within my means. I want to provide a child with a home, and begin a family of my own. I would make sure to enroll them trusting they are of age, and can help out with homework as needed. It's important to have a good education, as well as plenty of play time of course!
I know there are perhaps countless other potential parents that can provide a child with a home. However, I figured it couldn't hurt to offer my own home to a child. Especially if they otherwise might not have a place to be, or family to call their own.
Yours Truly, Callahan
P.S: Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter, and I hope this finds you well.
*Cal will be a quest character/npc/is currently only a plushie right now*

Entry: To whom it may concern,
I would first like to tender my apologies that I must make this introduction through paper and ink. Had I my druthers I would prefer to speak face to face, but circumstances beyond my control dictate I do otherwise. Should you prefer a face-to-face meeting in the future before making a final decision I shall make every effort oblige you. Should you deem me fit as a caretaker from the contents of this letter alone, you have but to send a response with a date and I will make it my top priority.
My name is Giselle. I am a graduate of Asterion University, majoring in Business and Law. I have modest yet comfortable home, a stable job, and aspire to one day run my own business. I should add, in the interest of full disclosure, that I am an elf. I understand if this causes some concern, as my race is not known for being the most (if I may be blunt) welcoming or tolerating to those they consider to be outsiders, and whether or not any child sent to such a home could be properly accepted and loved. In the hopes of setting your mind at ease, I would like to share my story and the reason for sending you this letter.
I came into the world as an orphan, and was adopted by a well-off family with no children of their own. It would be disingenuous of me to say I was not treated well. I had fine clothes, good food, and excellent tutors. I being groomed as something like an heir to the family business. I was quite good at it and was most content with the way my life was going. Then one day my parents were successfully able to imbue a soulstone. In that instant it was like I ceased to exist in the minds of those I thought of as family. Though I had the training, aptitude, and drive, I could never share their blood, and this made me inferior. It was never said, but their actions made it abundantly clear that I was a spare at best. I tried my best and hold no ill will towards my siblings (my parents imbued a second soulstone when my brother was a freshling); in fact, I rather enjoyed being a big sister. The attitude of the others had not changed though, and when my siblings began to affect it I left that house while I could still call a few of my memories precious.
You might be wondering at the point of me telling such a story. I don't doubt it does little to my credibility or to reassure you. I have lived in Below for some time now, and I have been able to observe many races and cultures. I have seen how close many are, and how you don't even have to share blood to be considered family. Perhaps it would shock nearly all my race to hear it, but I would gladly have given up the upbringing I had to be part of something so close.
This is what I would like to offer to a child. A caring home, a loving family. To teach them that blood, and even race, does not hinder such things. I ask you for the chance to give those things. Should you fit to grant me this chance, I am at your service.
Best regards, Giselle

Entry: Okay, so she was doing things a bit out of order from the way her folks did things. Her own timetable was always a little off one way or another in the major life event department. Melori had spent a few years after her time in the Academy just working, unsure of what she had wanted to do with herself until she had an epiphany sort of moment with what she wanted to do with herself for the long run. A good deal of her friends had already gotten around to settling down with their significant others and having kids with them. She, herself, hadn't ever really made a priority of dating while in school as her education came first. The imp wasn't above romance, and wouldn't mind it in the slightest, but it wasn't a driving force as it had been with her school friends. No, of late, Melori's maternal instincts were making themselves more prominently felt. She always sort of fell into the 'mom' role of her friend group and when parties or sickness cropped up she was the resident 'mama bear' during visits. She didn't mind. She really liked helping taking care of folks. Making sure everything was alright with her friends was one thing, but it had come to her attention she had been more increasingly drawn to lingering in the children's section of the library, encouraging young readers and helping the youngsters who passed through there. One of her coworkers had made a joking observation on this, but it caused her to sit herself down and consider what she was feeling and wanting. The idea of being a mom to someone, taking care of and loving a young life warmed her to the very heart of her. The prospect was a little scary, since she didn't have hardcore parenting experience, but by the Nine she would be willing to do her damnedest!
Melori had visited the orphanage a few times with a program from her work where someone would go read aloud to the orphans once or twice a month. This wasn't one of those visits, though she did have a favorite book of hers tucked away into her purse, plus one for the kids should she be asked to read to them. There was an anxious, excited flutter in her chest. Breathing a slow sigh, she knocked on the door and entered after a moment. One of the orphanage caretakers met her in the foyer. "Ah, Miss Ketziah, I'm afraid the kids are sitting down for lunch right now. If you don't mind waiting in the living room, I'm sure they'll love to have a story."
"I don't mind waiting and ordinarily I'd be happy to read to them, but I was actually here to visit and maybe see about bringing someone home." She offered a nervous smile to the caretaker. "I'm looking to start a family and I couldn't think of any other place I'd rather turn to." Melori was escorted to the living room to wait by the enthusiastic caretaker, who then set off for the office to get some paperwork and files for her to look over. Settling down into a chair near the fire, the imp looked out the window before pulling out her book. Might as well be comfortable while she waited, and it would give her something to focus on instead of being a bundle of nerves. She couldn't see all the kids at once. Melori felt that she'd probably lose heart at looking at a group of faces and saying she was leaving with one. Her trip would very well turn into just a normal reading time. Just one at a time would be best.
It wasn't long at all before she got fully wrapped up in her book, the quiet crackling of the fire helping to calm her fretting for the time being. Suddenly, she became aware of a presence at her elbow. Shifting her attention to the armrest, she was greeted by the curious face of a freshling. Melori smiled, closing her book with a claw keeping her place as she lowered her book. "Well, hi there, honey. Been there long?"
The youngster half ducked behind the armrest, but shook their head. "No, ma'am, Miss Melori." There was a moment or two when they sort of sheepishly shuffled their feet. "I like the pictures in your book. They're really pretty. What's it about?"
Melori's brows rose a few degrees. It had been a couple pages since there had been a picture. Perhaps she had been more engrossed than she had thought. The imp couldn't help but chuckle and opened her book again, tucking her bookmark on her page so that she could freely flip back to the beginning to show some more pictures to the child at her elbow. "Tell you what, have a seat with me and we can look through the pictures together." The youngster brightened at the prospect and nodded. "Here, let me help you up." Hauling the kiddo into her lap, Melori opened up to the first page of her book. "What's your name, honey?"
"My name is Perle,' the child said.
Ah, it was nice to put a name to the face. Perle tended to hang towards the back or off to the side when it was story time and tended to remain quiet when questions about the reading were asked. "Well, Perle, this is an absolute favorite book of mine. I like the pictures too and it's got some nice poems too. In it, there are a bunch of islands, each one being representations of each hour of the day. Some are night, some are day. There's a few friends that have all sorts of adventures through these strange islands." Melori was surprised when Perle began asking some pretty astute questions about the story and characters based on the pictures alone. She was all too happy to answer the soft spoken youngster in her lap.
Melori was having a grand old time with Perle, enthusiastically talking books and pictures and favorite colors when a clearing of a throat broke up the little discussion.
"Miss Ketziah, still needing the files?" Asked the caretaker with an arm nigh loaded down with papers.
The kiddo in her lap froze, their expression somewhere between being surprised and crestfallen. Melori drew Perle into a hug. The youngster nestled into her and relaxed at the comfort. "Ah, you know what, no, thank you. I think I'm good. Thanks, though. Um..." She looked to the wee one in her arms who peered up at her. Melori lowered her voice to just barely above a whisper. "Perle, would you like to come home with me?"
Perle gasped, their eyes wide and hopeful. "You mean it? You'd be...my mom?"
"Yeah, if you'd like me to be your mom, absolutely! What do you say?"
"Oh, yes, please! Please, take me home! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Perle exclaimed, throwing their arms around her neck.
The imp rubbed the child's back and nodded over to the caregiver. "I'd like to sign the proper adoption papers for this little jewel here, please. " The caregiver nodded and left to inform the appropriate folks and gather the papers needed to be signed. Alone once again, she smiled. "Hey, Perle, guess what. The book I've been showing you. It's part one of a six part series, all with similarly pretty art work and great writing. It'll be a lot of go through, but I think we can get through it together."

Entry:
Nora had finally received her reply from the orphanage she'd written to at the start of Winter Solstice and she was very excited. The child she'd adopted previously from the same orphanage, Milo, had been talking her ear off about a friend he'd had there who he was missing very much, a child called Quinn. They had been very close, but Quinn had been sick the day that Nora had adopted Milo on, which was why he was by himself in the hallway that day. The way that her son talked about Quinn made the decision to inquire about them a no brainer for Nora, and now that she knew that Quinn was still at the orphanage, she was more than ready to meet them.
The blonde haired baphomet wandered through the orphanage doors and instantly felt a pull of nostalgia. This was where she became a parent for the first time and fulfilled one of her long life dreams. Now, if everything went well, she'd be adopting for a second time. She skirted across the floor and chatted to the caretaker before turning for the playroom. There, sitting on the couch with a plushie in hand, was little Quinn. They appeared to be absorbed in a bit of make believe play with dolls, though, and scarcely looked up at Nora when she approached.
"Hello, are you Quinn?" Nora asked, taking a seat next to the child.
"Yup!" Quinn replied, not even bothering to look up. "And you're Nora, Milo's new mommy! I know 'cause Milo wrote letters and drew a picture. You're prettier than the drawing, though!"
Nora laughed. Oh, was she? She supposed that was Quinn's way of complimenting others. She leaned closer, curious about the dolls the child was playing with, and smiled.
"What are you playing? Are your dolls having a tea party?" She said, pointing toward one of the fancy dressed dolls in the center.
"Ew, no! They're doing something a lot more important than that!" Quinn scoffed, wrinkling their nose. "They're en-vi-ron-men-talists, and they're talking about ways to make Below cleaner! There's no time for tea and silly stuff like that!"
Nora clasped her hands together and tried her best not to laugh. Oh, this child was absolutely precious! No wonder Milo loved them so much, they were both passionate about the things they loved! Milo lived and breathed painting, while Quinn clearly loved the environment. Nora couldn't have been more sold.
"Alright then, I'll let you get back to your important meeting!" She replied, saluting the dolls and grinning at Quinn. "Keep up the good work protecting and preserving our environment!"
"They said they will, Ms. Nora!" Quinn chirped, echoing the grin. "That's their sworn duty!"
After another chuckle, Nora excused herself and returned to chatting with the caretaker from before. She informed them that she was one hundred percent sure that she would be taking Quinn home and went to the office beaming. It was time to sign those papers and bring this budding environmentalist to their new home base, where their dear best friend, and brother, would be eagerly waiting!
